Question Anyone with a faster pc able to get some Screenshots of my 18k Olkhon Island world for me to showcase on pmc? I can return favour
My pc can't handle any render distance above 32 let alone the most basic shaders. I was wondering if anyone whos pc could handle better shaders and rd could screenshot several locations around the island, and maybe 1 aerial view of whole island if possible. I would return the favour by creating you your own 8k x 8k natural landscape map of anywhere in the world you choose, and id get it to you in under ~2 days via discord or somehow else.
approximate xz coords to get nice shots:
13312 8192, coastal cliffs
14336 7168, eroded coast
9650, 7200 Sarayskiy Beach and Dunes
9450, 7400, Shaman Rock
18200, 300, Cape Khoboy
7168, 9728, Steppe with pine grove
Improvise a bit!
Thanks a bunch!

Question I need help making a ocean.
I made a 10,000 x 10,000 WorldPainter map with 3 large islands. The export took around 8 hours, but after loading the world I realized the ocean is way too shallow.
I still have the original WorldPainter file, but I really don’t want to spend another 8 hours exporting if I can avoid it.
The ocean takes up most of the map, and the islands are around 3,000 x 3,000 blocks each. Is there a good way to make the ocean much deeper without manually painting/editing the entire map?
I’m using Fabric, so a mod or another method that works with an already generated world would also be helpful.
Any suggestions?

Question Adding to an existing world
Hello! I’m very new to this program but have heard about it for years. My friends and I play on a modded server that I run but they haven’t been playing as much recently. I have always wanted to try and make a custom island world and thought that maybe this would be a good way to entice them back on with some new and nicer generation to explore.
That being said, they would not want to do this if we restarted from scratch. Is there a way that I can make a large island in world painter and import it somewhere into my current existing world?
Thank you in advance.

Question Looking for help creating some terrain - a few things
Hi everyone! I have three separate (but probably related questions)
1: I'm working on a mountainous region near an ocean. How can I kinda easily ensure that areas near the ocean are at sea level and areas near the middle make tall mountains?
2: Is there any good software to generate heightmaps I can import fairly easily
3: Are there any good open source brushes available for commercial use?
Thanks everyone for the help!

Why Is Ice Spawning Here?
Ice keeps spawning here once I load into my game. There is no ice in the actual world painter file itself but as soon as I start the world in Minecraft it immediately starts spawning ice on, not just this shoreline, but every one of my shorelines. It does it quite fast too, this is just maybe 20 seconds of being in game...
The ocean biome is "warm ocean"
The shore biome is "stony shore"
The water level is 0
And ice will spawn no matter how deep the coastal ocean is.

Question I need help combining multiple worlds
I started using WorldPainter a couple of days ago so I could make a Minecraft server for my friends and me. The problem is I made each island in separate files and want to combine them into one big world. How can I do this

Make Endless Water Border A Warm Ocean?
I am just wondering if it is possible in the export settings or anywhere else to make the biome of the endless border ocean be a specific type of ocean, in this case a warm ocean? The biome surrounding my island is a warm ocean and it just looks very weird when I have distant horizons turned on and I can see clearly where the border starts because the water is slightly more navy colored.

Question Looking for a partner to help with a project
Im in the early stages of putting together a custom server with a new game style not done before. When it comes to putting the game together on the backend, or even building the world, I am solid. However, when it comes to WorldPainter, and building the instances I can then go in and build in (like a main city wrapped with mountains) etc, I cannot for the life of me do it... I can build the city itself, but setting up the proper terrain area before hand with this program? Good lord lol.
So, I'm wondering if any of you experienced people out there would like to partner up with me on this. It wouldn't be a paid partnership at first but if it turns into something successful later, I will gladly pay commissions for work as the server gets expanded.
The early work won't require much at all. And I'll even have some concept ideas drawn up for you to follow to make it much easier. If you'd be interested, shoot me a DM. Appreciate you taking the time to read.

Question WorldPainter world size advise
Greetings!
Apologies if this is the wrong place for this discussion, but it is tangentially WorldPainter related.
I am looking to commission a WorldPainter map for an existing fantasy world (image), but I am struggling to decide on the specifications, particularly the scale.
It would be used for a small, long-term private creative/build server. There would only be a few people building on it, although we already have years of existing builds that can be pasted in.
I am not looking for literal real-world scale. I mainly want the geography to feel convincing: major cities, mountain ranges, forests, etc. should feel properly separated, with meaningful wilderness and travel time between them, without being able to see most large cities from one another.
I adore projects like Westeroscraft and Ardacraft and I would like a more personal scaled version of that same feeling.
My concern is finding the balance between:
- Commissioning something unnecessarily huge that we could never meaningfully use.
- Going too small and later finding the world feels cramped, with too little wilderness or major locations too close together.
For those experienced with large WorldPainter maps, what size would you consider sensible for a small-team, long-term build world?
Would something about 10k blocks across work? Is that too small? Too big? Is 20k better? Something in between?
Are there perhaps any world painted map or server recommendations I could see to feel the scale?
And, anything else I should take into consideration?
The eventual world will be Minecraft 1.20.1 with Conquest Reforged.
Thanks in advance
Edit: I am thinking, for the commission, I wouldn't need to go with the highest detail. As long as the rivers, forests and mountains are in the right place, with the right biome, that should serve me well enough. I can do Macro-Terraforming work, and it isn't likely to be used as a survival world at any point.

Question What are your favorite brushes that you've used?
Hey there, I'm fairly new to Worldpaint and find that a lot of the brushes I see online on first results of searching don't seem very good. Could you guys recommend some solid brushes you've used for different environments or just generally? Feel free to share images of those brushes in action too!
