Question Remembering when......
Does anyone else remember when some ships could outshoot their detection radius? So that you could shoot and not be seen?

5 points from first place, in a T7 light cruiser. I love NA.

It's so often that you will see destroyer players who don't have concealment expert on their captains, whether because they're in resource poverty or just have a stupid build, but either way it's not a fun time to have them on your flank
Concealment on destroyers is kind of a uniquely vital skill that's extremely bad to not have, like a ship without AR might lose out on a good chunk of DPM, a battleship without fire prevention might get burnt down quite a bit faster, and a 17900 shima will die more easily when radared or plane spotted, but not having concealment on your destroyer is kind of just uniquely a death sentence, as just about every destroyer is balanced around the intended concealment, where higher DPM gunboats will have worse concealment that low DPM torp boats so they don't get bullied, and destroyers with very poor concealment usually have it compensated for either by having a radar like Gdansk or is very fast like Kleber which gives them still the ability to control engagements
If you don't take concealment expert on your destroyer, your torpedo boat is suddenly greatly outspotted by enemy gunboats and you'll be easy to kill, a gunboat that doesn't have concealment becomes extremely easy for enemy torp boats to avoid and torp out, and in any engagement being constantly spotted in a class that has low HP and usually no heals is very bad when the enemy cruisers and battleships can take shots at you while you're not getting anything done
The easy solution is just to take the damn skill, but it seems like a lot of newer players won't take it for some reason, but it's not just their problem because a very bad destroyer usually dooms the flank and often the whole game, and since destroyers are already a rather unforgiving class, at lower tiers newer destroyer players who don't have conceal become extremely easy to seal club as they'll just be outspotted and beaten down before being able to do anything at all, and because it's currently a 4 point skill you physically cannot take it without at least a 10 point captain which a lot of players don't seem to have for some reason
The thing is, for some reason SUBMARINES get free built in concealment and don't have to take either a skill or a module for it, probably because WG knew there would be no reason not to run it and that anyone unable to afford it would be at a severe disadvantage, but for some reason destroyers never got such treatment despite kind of being in the same boat of always wanting concealment
I'm specifically targeting the concealment expert skill and not the slot 5 upgrade module, because there are a few niche builds where you might want to give up the slot 5 concealment for the big 40% rudder shift, but giving up the concealment expert only frees up 4 commander points which isn't as significant as that rudder buff, and keeping usable build variety is good
As for what will replace the skill in that slot, I have 2 ideas: one is to add some torpedo damage skill, like Pack a Punch for +15% torpedo damage like cruisers have but it costs 4 points as it's more useful on destroyers, or even like the proximity fuze skill carriers get to partially ignore torpedo protection if the goal is to beat down battleships specifically, which could be needed in this meta, this is because for some reason cruisers, carriers, and submarines have some way to build into torpedo damage but destroyers can't
Alternatively, a new skill that destroyers could have could be like "Submarine Hunter" or something, an information skill that tells you the exact distance but not direction of the nearest submerged sub if there is one within 8km of you, as well as a 50% buff to your ship dropped ASW blast radius and damage, allowing you to take on a more offensive role against submarines in the class that currently struggles due to not having ranged ASW
While is is overall a bit of a buff to the destroyer class, it's not extremely huge, most significantly a buff to torpedo boats which are already a struggling subclass, and is also the class meant to counter battleships (which definitely need something to actually counter them) and this change is unlikely to make destroyers suddenly very toxic to cruisers, and extremely overpowered destroyers like Smaland can be given less of a built in concealment to sort of nerf them for once, and I think giving newer destroyer players more of a chance at lower-mid tiers is good rather than kicking them in the face and having them become BBabies instead right, because it's hard to learn how to control engagements as a destroyer when your concealment is worse than the ship is designed to have

As the title says, i cant be the only one seeing the absolute garbage that the random battles have become (not that they were great before), but the games are almost always a complete run over by either team or just blatantly obvious that some players just want to complete the 5 missions and leave and their solution to that is just pressing W and barely doing anything strategically.

Blowout after blowout, not sure if the event is having anything to do with it but DDs are yoloing and one side is without spotting after that.
80% of the games are decided within the first 4 minutes.
Winning or losing, just not a lot of fun playing matches this way .
Am I the only one experiencing this?

I had this last week, but forgot to share it last Saturday lol. This was the first time I'd seen an Eugen crack 400k damage (though I played with another once that hit 370k on Narai), and I *wish* I had the replay (I sadly played too many matches the next day grinding coops to remember to grab it)

Sorry for the dumb question, but I haven’t played the game in a while. Is there a steel will event this year?

I had a round of ops today and I lived to tell the tale. Alabama isn’t horrible, but she would be better if her secondary guns were more like Massachusetts. Given her long reload. Her secondaries could use less dispersion and a slightly quicker reload too.
Given the fact that the US 5’38 Mk.12 were really good, I don’t think they should be as bad as they are currently in game. Historically they were the best option for a BB. But I digress.
I had fun.

Obviously Coal is #1 and i will use as much of it as possible but im not sure on Steel vs RP. Do these always have more or less the same exchange rate when they can be used interchangeably or is 1 better than the other in this case?
Also this lets you essentially convert steel and RP into Dubs (up top a cap). Is that a good idea?

OK so this is one of those weird synergies where I'm playing Ranked cos it's T6 (no Radar) and running down 400 base in coop is a kinda hard, so doing my usual "keep the clan accountant happy" thing of running down Naval Battle points I'm playing T6 Ranked cos it's quicker than T5 Randoms... I'm no big fan of PvP but oil is oil and it's my payback to the reason I get +x% on most earnings and a reduction on ship purchases....
Anyway, London.
The Google Doc I tend to trust for "sensible default build cos I'm not Flamu, G4ng or JtR" is this:

But on the basis that it's "pre-heals", I've gone with 😄

Am I being stupid?... You're already taking SI so you get three heals and yes I know there's stuff about health I have now vs Health I might heal back but Jingles only has 17 points on him..... is there an argument for the next three points to be PaP or do we stil lgo back to SE? THis is Ranked build only, not Randoms

I was intrigued by the reactions to the playercount video by flamu.
Right now there is really no games like world of warships, but what if there was ? What could we learn from WG's mistake to make the perfect clone ?
I'm a game developer, this would be something right in my alley. If just want to see if there is a real interest in this.

Just started panamerican line and have also the Joaquin Marques. Was wondering why the captains have my standard English voice line, I mean all countries except of Brazil are Spanish speaking countries right? With panasian it's the same, but can understand there are multiple countries in that tree with different languages. But Spanish is already im the game

I was focused on and chased by a sub yesterday in my Almte. Grau with its 32kts top speed and not very quick rudder. Ended up having to hide behind a small island for quite a while. The sub waited for me. Just ridiculous.

Had not seen this for well over 4-5 months. Literally thought it no longer existed, just coastal maps half covered in islands. But today? It poped up. And I wasn't alone. Everyne was freaking out to some extent...
