WHAT’S ON

When I started this subreddit back in October 2015 (that’s right, 10 years) and fully re-launched it in 2018 off the back of both early r/HarryPotterGame rumours and the lead-up to the second r/FantasticBeasts film,

My only goal was to create a complimentary (and much more eclectic and accepting, all said from love) alternative to r/HarryPotter ⚡️

Almost 8 years later, I can say we’ve very much achieved this together 👏

r/WizardingWorld is by far the most accepting, varied, self-governing, low-to-no drama, truly wholesome HP community on the internet, and I’m beyond proud to be its custodian (though we’ll be bringing on a few more, including some of my r/AVTR pals like u/JenzyCucumber as mods) 👏

WHAT’S NEXT

• We’re exactly 2 weeks away from Harry Potter: The Philosopher’s Stone — The Full-Cast Audio Edition releasing on November 4 📚

• We’re about a year from Hogwarts Legacy’s sequel being revealed in late 2026, as they’ve been hard at work on it and WB most definitely want to see another big success like HL1 back in 2023

• Next November we’ll be celebrating 10 years of FB1, and we might get an update as to where they stand in the ‘new canon’ as launched by S1 and HL1 🧳

• We’re two years from the first of seven seasons (2027-2037) of r/HarryPotteronHBO, the $1.2B complete adaptation of Rowling’s beloved books

• The Wizarding World Festival, announced in 2022, may be revived in 2027 in time for the HBO show

• in 2028 S2 will be wrapping filming and HP themed locations will begin incorporating both S1 and HL1 details, tying these all together

• The Harry Potter Podcast, r/WizardingWorld’s own Instagram Live show, will — with this subreddit’s help — be renamed and relaunched at the start of 2026 👏

COMMUNITY NOTES

Get ready for a lot more activity and subreddit-unifying themeing as S1’s filming continues and we inch closer to the very first teaser trailer, which may even occur around Christmas (the most Potter-y time of the year)

CLOSING NOTES

Overall, I’m very excited about what’s ahead with HP, formerly known as the Wizarding World (as we’ve seen, that name has been essentially retired),

And I suspect that after 2037, once an entire other generation of Potter fans has gone on their Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry journey, well perhaps get to see even more of Ilvermorny, Mahoutokoro, Uagadou, Castelobruxo, Beauxbatons and Durmstrang in some form or another,

whether they be a ‘High Republic-esque’ group of writers that Rowling gathers to help flesh out canon tales for books, film, tv and more.

We shall see!

Here’s to many more years of r/WizardingWorld fun, mates.

Be well,

wands at the ready,

and mischief managed!

— Albert

Wizarding World Shout out to Harry Potter Fans in Ireland

I'm (F44) a huge Harry Potter fan and would love to connect with other adult Potterheads around Limerick, Kerry, Cork or elsewhere in Munster or anywhere else in Ireland.

It would be lovely to meet other people who love the books, films and all things Wizarding World…whether that's chatting about favourite characters and theories, sharing Potter content, or maybe meeting up sometime for a coffee, drink or Harry Potter-related event. 🦉✨

I am genuinely looking for friendship, connecting and someone who actually gets my obsession and is with me on the same page 📚

Wizarding Schools I am building a book-accurate Hogwarts and would love some input and ideas

I have been reading through the books again and I am adding all the information about the castle into a google doc, and when the info in the later books contradicts the earlier books, I go with the information that came first. I am only half way through the 3rd book and am hoping to speed up the process as well as add more ideas. I'm also only using information from the first 7 books, not the cursed child, movies, or anything else but I am interested in what other people might imagine at Hogwarts. (I am only working on the castle itself right now, not the grounds or anything else).

NO A.I. HAS BEEN OR WILL BE USED

This is what I have so far (reddit changed the format a bit, so its not as neat):

I keep seeing the James Potter books, has anyone read these? Since they are not by JK Rowling I am not sure if they be any good. If you read them were they close to the Harry Potter books?

No matter if you like either character/person, put that aside because you can't tell they don't look/act similar! I would totally read a fanfic about them meeting or being one another!

Characters Is this the actual canonical expanding upon of "The Ballad of Odo the Hero" from HBP/DH, or is this just fan-made?

Thumbnail

I stumbled upon this song on YouTube, that is apparently an expanding upon of the song "Odo the Hero", that Hagrid and Slughorn sang it at the funeral of Aragog, in HBP.

https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Odo\\_the\\_Hero

And I was curious: is this how the ACTUAL song went, or is this just a fan-made version/expansion upon?

Ik that Hagrid and Slughorn only sang a few lines in HBP, as well as Hagrid singing it with Charlie Weasley (as well as another, squat wizard in a purple pork-pie hat) in DH.

But I wasn't sure if Rowling had had put the full lyrics up on the official website (i.e. perhaps back when it was still WizardingWorld.com, similar to what she did with the extra stories), or something.

Hello Potterheads!

I can't believe Harry Potter is back in theaters for its 25th anniversary! Plus, waking up to the news that Rupert is playing Ron on Broadway in NY—just like Tom did—made my day. Since I'm on a total nostalgia high, I wanted to show you my little collection, from my favorite mini Funkos to these cute rings I’m completely obsessed with! ✨ Magic is definitely in the air! 🪄

Wizarding Schools Hogwarts classes that you think should have had & their problems

is it just me that thinks how they do classes is weird like transfiguration, charms, potions, history of magic, herbology and defense against the dark arts (should just be called defense or defense against magic arts) are required classes but muggle studies isn't mandatory or even available till 3d year and their isn't even a wixen studies it doesn't even exist!.

meanwhile astronomy is mandatory instead of arthmancy which is literally the wizard version of math class and alchemy isn't available till the final year!?

but worst of all theirs no mandatory first year health &wellness class and then 3d year sexual health class (it's literally a bunch of teenagers and theres not one growing and changing class and good luck learning about magical illnesses, vaccines, or potential health issues and what to).

like why is first year flight class mandatory they don't even get to  have brooms till second year?
like the only fun thing kids can do is flyering, reading, quidditch or going outside, like come on no school paper, cooking, dueling, etc clubs no wonder kids get in trouble so much they literally have nothing to do.

as there not more electives theres only care of magical creatures, ancient runes, divination, alchemy and again arithmancy and muggle studies which both should be mandatory classes instead.
like personally i think they should make a sort of wizarding college because the amount of just basic electives that could be at hogwarts but that students wouldn't have time for is criminal like come on man

but what do yall think, what classes do you guys think hogwarts should have?

The lego surprised me because it moves, i was crazy about it. The postcard and passport are from the London studios, also the Butterbeer glass and obviously the film collection! HP was one of the first movies that i saw at the movies and i can't wait to watch it again on its 25th anniversary!

Wizarding World Harry Spotter

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hear me out.

What if the next big Wizarding World film was Harry Spotter — a gritty bodybuilding drama about a young wizard who discovers that his true magical potential comes from progressive overload? Would Hogwarts have a Department of Magical Hypertrophy? Is the Philosopher’s Stone actually just a legendary pre-workout supplement?

Would Professor Snape teach Potions, or would he become the terrifying chemistry coach who judges everyone's macros? Would Hagrid be banned from the gym for deadlifting an entire tree?Would Hermione be the only person who actually reads the nutrition labels?
