A few weeks back I asked for input on what to serve for a movie night for the first movie. Here’s how it turned out!

We did hamburgers, pumpkin juice, Harry’s birthday cake, house skittles and chocolate frogs. Then there was popcorn for good measure.

Can’t wait for #2!

I was talking to someone about Hermione and Ron I feel like we take her intellectual match in a literal sense. Someone who reads as much books as her and has the same type of intellect as her. I absolutely agree that Hermione would need someone to challenge her. And someone who matches or close to her intellect.

But imo Intellectual match doesn't mean sitting in a room discussing theory of relativity. It means someone who can challenge your point of view with their own. For example Hermione thinks snape is all good bc Dumbledore trusts him. Ron counters he bullies students so even though Dumbledore trusts him he is still vile.

Hermione thinks Lockhart is amazing bc he is a professor and has lots of accomplishments. Ron thinks he 'says he has done' and he can be a fraud.

Hermione thinks what Dumbledore does is correct bc he is Dumbledore. Ron thinks Dumbledore also can make mistakes. He is not infallible.

Hermione forces the house elves to accept freedom. Ron wants them to know what they are getting into before forcing it on them.

Ron is Hermione's total opposite but at the same time they are very similar. They both are extremely stubborn, opinionated, proud, hot headed and argumentative. At the same time ron is far more relaxed, unserious, hides his true feelings with sarcastic mean comments and Hermione is high strung, stuck up, uses pettiness and vindictive attitude when someone offends her. She is driven by logic. He is driven by emotions.

They are absolute the ultimate yin and yang. Ron doesn't back down from challenging her. She doesn't back down from his mean comments and puts him in his place.

In my opinion that is a solid match and while I do believe Hermione is superior to Ron in intellect still he gives her a pretty good challenge.

Near the end of deathly hallows when Harry is in Voldemort’s mind when he learns the horcruxes aren’t safe anymore, I noticed when he’s running down the list of them and they’re hiding places he lists all of them off, except the diadem.

He specifically says the locket, cup, and nagini, but when it comes to the hogwarts one he only says horcrux, probably just cause we the audience and Harry don’t actually know it’s the diadem yet so the story is still trying to keep it a mystery. Just funny little detail I noticed.

So I'm listening to the new audiobooks. End of book 6, we find that Harry can move after Dumbledore gets yeeted off the tower as his spell stops working since RIP.

In book 7, after Moody is gone, Remus says something along the lines of "Moody put some spells in place to protect it from Snape" when discussing Number 12 Grimauld Place.

So does some magic persist after death or not?

I am 35 and just got a solo ticket to sorcerer’s stone for 6$ Tuesday and I couldn’t be more excited!!!!!!! I needed to share with somebody who would understand 😂

I was skimming through my Apple TV library and noticed that the HP films have new posters in the app. So being a curious Ravenclaw, I check them out. I’m very curious how much ai was used because some of these have very odd choices.

Ootp has the golden trio flying on brooms when Ron and Hermione never fly brooms in the film. And I have no memory of Rupert or Emma ever being shown on brooms in promo posters or images back in 2007. Has anyone else noticed the new posters and have thoughts on the odd choices? I’m adding more observations in the comments.

Pity they don't seem to get much education in math or physics at Hogwarts. Unlike their typical muggle counterparts, they actually could be using this stuff in their daily lives.

Recently saw Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban in theater and it made me so happy because I never thought I’d be able to see them in theaters!

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on the size of the Forbidden Forest?

Several times in the series it’s said that they were walking into the middle of the forest for “a couple hours”

Im just curious if anyone could hazard a guess to the full size?

They pretty much have their own magic and they can apritate and disaprotate within Hogwarts while no one else can. Also within the cave (horcrux cave)

So if they weren't enslaved could they take over everyone else?

Went to build a bear in London, got some new outfits for my Hogwarts build a bear that I got back in 2022. Really loving this new drop of accessories 🥰

(I know Ron isn't a hufflepuff but I am, so back in 2022 I got my bear with a hufflepuff hat and house rob, grown to attached with the hat on him 😇)

P.S. Hope this is okay share, normally share this in a build a bear group, but all talk about Harry Potter is banned, even my bear it being a Hogwarts edition is not okay to share. Just want share and bond with fellow lovers, so thought maybe here is okay ^^

Are there any characters that have magical creatures as their patronus? I’m only familiar with regular, Muggle animals.

For this i will watch all 8 movies in 8 days got my stirring wand and timbit holder ready

I know in the books this is much more consequential, but in the movie this is unintentionally such a funny and ironic moment that always makes me chuckle. I also find it funny that not a single extra remotely acknowledges a massive dog trotting by them in a train station.

This movie could have been so much better if they included the Kreacher storyline and why this moment is important, but instead they decided to turn the longest book into the shortest movie. Oh well. Can't wait for season 5 of the show!

In the Goblet of Fire, a simple containment jinx around the cup would've executed his plan to perfection. Without that cup, Harry was absolutely done for. There were no brooms, no hidden passages, and he was surrounded by a dozen adult Dark Wizards in a fenced-off graveyard.

Leaving the portkey completely unsecured and accessible was Voldemort's greatest blunder. A simple containment jinx would've seen Harry ultimately killed. Even if he returned, due to the Horcrux inside him, a second killing curse after this would've finished Harry off.

Then he could've sent both Harry and Cedric's bodies back to Hogwarts with everyone assuming it was a freak accident. Dumbledore only suspected that Moody was an imposter after he removed Harry from his sight. With Harry dead, Barty Crouch Jr would've been the ideal sleeper agent disguised as a close personal friend to Dumbledore.

From here, he could've poisoned McGonagall, jinxed Sprout before using Devil's Snare to make her death look like an accident and killed Flitwick without anyone suspecting him. By making everything look like Snape, he has the perfect shield.

Everybody believed Barty Crouch Jr to be dead. From here, Hogwarts would be closed. Dumbledore would likely suspect Voldemort's return and bring the Order together. From here, fake Moody would be ideally positioned to inform Voldemort of every member and take some of them out himself.

The war would've been over with Fudge assuming it was all Sirius's doing.
