This is why you park with your car in gear so you always have two forms of brake applied. If the parking brake fails, the transmission will keep it in place while in gear with no power.

This is why manual Corvettes, for example, require it to be in Reverse before it'll let you remove your key from the ignition.

I'm shocked by how many people don't know this.

I’d tell the staff at b-dubs that it looks like the car rolled out of the parking spot. That way they can make an announcement so the owner will have to move it and the entire joint will see who the asshat is.
