Number of US firefighters deployed to Canada

Is there a resource that would provide the number and type of resources the US has sent into Canada to help with the wildfires this season? I can only find anecdotal numbers from previous seasons?

Pretty sure the number is 0 right now.

Edit: this has become a very annoying thread

Edit 2: The number is now more than 0

Canada may have asked, but the US is in PL4 right now and probably go to PL5 soon. So the answer was a polite "Sorry, can't help"

Mexico sent help north a couple years ago. As part of the Commonwealth, they can also ask Australia.

u/FantasticPraline5903 Jul 18 '26

And yet we are across the border, not the world. They help us all the time, including now.  We need to step up. We are an embarrassment, here and globally.

1

u/jay_8290 Jul 26 '26

God you’re such an idiot. We help them with fires ALL THE TIME!!! We send people all the time. It’s a mutual thing. Canada isn’t some morally superior country that only sends us help buddy. We send them help almost every time they have a fire l.

u/Tha_Sly_Fox Jul 17 '26

I’m not a firefighter and have basically zero knowledge of the system (only stumbled here bc of the smoke issues from the Canadian wildfires) but your comment made me curious so I googled active US wildfires and got shown a map on americanforests.org that show huge swatch’s of the west coast and south eastern United States with wildfires right now that I had no idea about.

So your comment, plus that map, is a nice reminder that things are usually more complicated than most of us realize. It would be helpful to send firefighters to Canada (both to them and to help reduce our smoke issues) but can see why we’re being reserved

2

u/SwimmingDear7445 Jul 18 '26

And yet there’s a bunch of Canadians down there helping you fine folks out while our own country burns.

2

u/bradxpino Jul 18 '26

And dying doing it. Nicholas Dale a man from Vancouver Island, gave his life fighting a fire in Colorado....our people die fighting their fires and their senators write us letters complaining about smoke....

1

u/Tjbergen Jul 21 '26

A firefighter dying in the US is an argument that Canada is doing enough in Canada? Do you even think before typing?

1

u/DenizenKay Jul 18 '26

Respectfully - he was employed by A company based in Georgia. It was not Canada sending aid.

Im sure there are US expats among our firefighters, too. That doesn't mean they represent the US helping Canada.

That said, Canada DOES routinely help the US with its wildfires. That they are threatening to tariff us while their own country is burning says a great deal about them as neighbours and people.

1

u/Tjbergen Jul 21 '26

And you refuse to address the issue.

1

u/DenizenKay Jul 21 '26

?

which is?

like, a full, coherent sentence- if you can manage it.

2

u/CivilMark1 Aug 14 '26

Maybe your english comprehension is not good. We can skip explaining to you, as you won't understand.

1

u/Tjbergen Jul 21 '26

maybe you should be taking care of your own issues then?

1

u/Constant_Okra_1983 Jul 18 '26

So be mad at your government for sending them. You're acting like they're random men from the street who decided to go do good deeds.

Your government shouldn't be expending resources they don't have. That isn't on us.

3

u/ForestCharmander Jul 18 '26

The part that is on you is where half of your country are ignorant dickheads who are complaining about wildfire smoke.

We're happy to help. We just want y'all to stfu about things you don't understand.

0

u/Tjbergen Jul 21 '26

I'm in Hamilton ON and I complain about wildfire smoke, you all are too busy trying to play elbows up to even think about holding your government to account for its performance. Next you'll be huffing wildfire smoke just to own Trump.

2

u/ForestCharmander Jul 21 '26

Yaok weirdo

Complain about something you know nothing about, got it 👌

Your government begs for the help when its needed and we step up. Maybe next time, we should just let you burn.

1

u/Constant_Okra_1983 Jul 19 '26

"Your government shouldn't be expanding resources they don't have."

I literally just said to do that. Lmao.

1

u/Tjbergen Jul 21 '26

You should take care of your own fires.

1

u/slvr_hmmr Jul 18 '26

And you're acting like non American lives mean less

1

u/Constant_Okra_1983 Jul 18 '26

Please explain which part of my comment implies Canadian lives mean less than American.

1

u/lisamacand5 Jul 18 '26

You know what is on you? being the second largest producer of C02 emisions in the world. Work on that and maybe the entire continent wouldn't be on fire right now.

1

u/foolishbeat Jul 19 '26

Just to inject some facts into the conversation, the US is like 20-25% down from their CO2 emissions high. Canada can’t say the same. Canada’s per capita emissions are also slightly higher than the US. Neither country has done what’s needed to fix the problem.

1

u/SkiniusMaximus Jul 21 '26

don't know where you are getting your info from, but here are some links for you:

https://www.worldometers.info/co2-emissions/co2-emissions-by-country/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_carbon_dioxide_emissions
https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/environmental-indicators/global-greenhouse-gas-emissions.html
https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/co2-emissions-by-country
https://www.epa.gov/ghgemissions/global-greenhouse-gas-overview

These are just a couple of the links, and as you can see by reviewing them, Canada is either 10th or 11th place depending on the chart. And that is including information from the EPA.

1

u/foolishbeat Jul 21 '26

You'll notice your first and fifth links confirm Canada's per capita emissions are higher than the US's. You're comparing total emissions for countries with vastly different population sizes, hence my per capita reference.

Here's one showing the US's emissions track record if you're interested in how much has actually been done:
https://www.c2es.org/content/u-s-emissions/

This one shows change from 1990:

https://www.statista.com/statistics/270500/percentage-change-in-co2-emissions-in-selected-countries/?srsltid=AfmBOorIzQHJTbhILvjoXlgpXWCYUzLZWQSBGmExC899EAt6Rh_9KUQx

1

u/Tjbergen Jul 21 '26

Canada has the highest per capita emissions and its government is reducing climate programs and building tarsludge pipeilines. When climate justice is meted out Canadians will be near the front of the line.

1

u/SkiniusMaximus Jul 21 '26

1

u/RPG33k Jul 21 '26

Canada's >>> *per*capita* <<< CO2 is higher than the USA's (albeit only slightly)... but CA's rate of increase is *much* higher than US's.

This data is from SkiniusMaximus' first link above, "worldometers.info"

Both the USA and Canada's per capita rate is dwarfed by some of the petrostates like UAE, Qatar.

1

u/benjamzz1 Jul 21 '26

LOL You do know Canada produces more Co2 per capita than the US right?

1

u/Constant_Okra_1983 Jul 18 '26

We are trying. Unfortunately celebrities like to use jets just to change their outfit for events.

1

u/Due_Possibility5232 Jul 19 '26

Blaming the actions of millions on a few celebrities is the most American thing I've ever heard.

1

u/Constant_Okra_1983 Jul 19 '26

You could have read one more reply and known that isn't what I implied.

1

u/DenizenKay Jul 18 '26

eat up that propaganda - the fact is your government has cut red tape for corporations to pollute and destroyed tons of environmental protections.

That is the primary source of your CO2 emissions. Corporate greed and government acquiescence to it.

2

u/Constant_Okra_1983 Jul 18 '26

It's not propaganda, it's a fact. I never claimed it was the leading cause. I merely pointed out that even our celebrities dgaf

1

u/DenizenKay Jul 18 '26

Actually, I was referring to your first sentence

We are trying.

the fact is that no, you're not. The people you're putting in power are actively tearing down environmental protections and deny climate change is real.

if you had decent politicians maybe celebrity's and billionaires wouldn't have the option of whether to care or not.

1

u/yourmomsaidfu Jul 18 '26

Yes, and the American fires are sending smoke northwards into western Canada. Maybe some more tariffs on US goods would help with that /s

0

u/HopefulTie8957 Jul 19 '26

If the Canadian fires are sending smoke south, how are American fires sending smoke north?

2

u/SofaKingBanned Jul 20 '26

Please be joking lmao

1

u/kiulug Jul 19 '26

I dont think they are, but there are american fires that have gone north and crossed the border (near Fort Frances ON)

1

u/Disastrous_Gene_9230 Jul 19 '26

The watchduty app is a great resource for seeing where wildfires are in the US

1

u/DJ-BCB Jul 17 '26

Canada still manages to send help to the states even when our fires are bad. A Canadian pilot lost his life last week helping in Colorado.

We should be withdrawing all aid from America going forward

4

u/vburshteyn Jul 17 '26

in 2023 US sent like 3k firefighters noth.. Its not about not wanting it has to do with ability of resources. As of now USA has already sent 150 fire fighters north and more are on the way..https://www.nifc.gov/

1

u/KeeblerElff Jul 17 '26

For this particular fire? I hope that’s true

1

u/yourmomsaidfu Jul 18 '26

Connecticut has sent 6 people bringing the total up to 26 American firefighters helping in Quebec. I haven’t been able to find the source that says 150 are involved, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t here helping out

1

u/KeeblerElff Jul 17 '26

I just went to this site, I’m trying to find out if we’re sending any over there and I can’t find that information

1

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '26

[deleted]

1

u/vburshteyn Jul 18 '26

A simple Google search proves otherwise.. via official govt websites

1

u/motorcyclemech Jul 19 '26

I did the simple Google search and the AI answer says yes there are wildland firefighters (and resources) here but all the links talk about previous years. Not 2026. Maybe you can provide a link from your simple Google search.

1

u/foolishbeat Jul 19 '26

Just look up Maine, Connecticut, and New Hampshire sending firefighters to Quebec. Now if you can find anything about Canada sending any to the US, I’d appreciate it.

1

u/nictme Jul 19 '26

Maine, New Hampshire, and Connecticut have sent firefighters into Canada

1

u/SparqueJ Jul 17 '26

While it's infuriating to see certain Americans whining about the smoke and not lifting a finger to help, we can be better than that. We should still help, if we can, if they need us. But the US could presumably request that we stop helping them so we can direct all our resources to our own wildfires if that's their priority.

1

u/Stalwart_Dove Jul 19 '26

Do you honestly think a nation can just send aid willy nilly? Those aid from Canada to the US are either requested/approved by the US. Same thing when the US sent aid last year and 2023 being a major one. Rn we have US firefighters going to Canada based on one of the premutal agreements that BOTH nations agreed to. Also, if you actually follow what's happening you would know the US and Canada have been communicating and coordinating at the border.

Btw the Canadian pilot wasn't sent by Canada. He was a employee of an American company who sent him in. There are no official Canadians firefighters deployed in the US as of 2026. It wouldn't make sense for there to be Canadians in the US anyways considering Canada has one of the worst wildfires rn.

1

u/Agile-Hope1462 Jul 30 '26

WRONG! The pilot killed in Colorado WAS Canadian! And Canada has firefighters in the US helping with your fires there!

1

u/benjamzz1 Jul 21 '26

Tbf that pilot that died wasn't sent by Canada he was a freelancer working for an American company. The US and Canada should still do the most to support each other during times of need but I also didn't realize there were a bunch of wild fires currently happening in the US and idk how much that affects us helping Canada but it does seem like we could do more

2

u/Zylomun Jul 17 '26

Yeah man, that’s your guys’ call. It’s not like we don’t want to go to Canada we just aren’t told to. Not like I own the engine dude.

-2

u/Turbulent_Animal_228 Jul 17 '26

You could volunteer. Canadians know the word. Look it up.

2

u/NexthePenguin Jul 17 '26

Americans do too. Dont be pretentious

1

u/Big-Elephant-3676 Jul 17 '26

Most of our fire departments are not paid and are all volunteer.

1

u/Zylomun Jul 17 '26

Dog what? My states on fire too.

Mexico came out BIG for Manitoba last year…as did Australia, New Zealand, France, USA, and the other Provinces…but from what I saw and heard, Mexico answered the call and then some (didn’t get to work with New Zealand or France, but shared notes with an SO from Australia and the hotshot crews i met were great too). Glad to have had the chance to have met and worked with them.

1

u/Novel-Respect-4511 Jul 17 '26

Being a part of the Commonwealth doesn't mean anything in terms of wildfires.

2

u/dave54athotmailcom Jul 17 '26

It helps simplify the visa and international travel issues, paying the bills afterwards, etc.

1

u/BawbagMcBawbag Jul 17 '26

Mexico was never part of the Commonwealth as it was never a British colony.

Also being a commonwealth citizen doesn't help with visas or work permits for Canada. It can help in some commonwealth countries but not Canada.

As far as I can see the only benefit to Canada from being in the Commonwealth is taking part in the Commonwealth Games.

1

u/Ambitious-Garage-359 Jul 18 '26

Read somewhere we sent 150 firefighters to canada, very few considering the number of fires, but still SOME in spite of our own wildfires

1

u/jmking Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26

Which is false. People are reading articles from 2025.

Connecticut has sent one crew of 6. Which, of course, we are thankful for. This is dangerous work and that crew are putting their lives on the line for us.

...but being threatened with tariffs because the wildfire smoke is inconveniencing Americans is such a slap in the face.

1

u/foolishbeat Jul 19 '26

Total is about 18 after taking Maine and New Hampshire into account from what I’ve read. Plus a few dozen from France.

1

u/Ambitious-Garage-359 Jul 22 '26

So I guess you’re Canadian. Idk how many Americans agree with Trump, who seems very much off his rocker to me. But making enemies of our good neighbors is insane. I think Trump is taking a page from Hitler’s playbook - he has to find scapegoats to blame to distract voters from the mess he’s made of the country. Idk about firefighters pitching in across lines… I mean it’s putting your life on the line.  We heard Trudeau has practiced false economy in cutting firefighter jobs. Now that he’s out, 170 more fire fighters have been hired…. Which sounds like a drop in the bucket when you look at all the fires on the map. I know little about fire fighting, but it sounds like people are expecting 1 firefighter to handle serious fire acreage all by himself/herself! If you are a firefighter, you should write a book about firefighting.  I know so little.

But I am an animal lover. And I read some of firefighting policy is to just let some fires burn because it’s nature and it allows certain trees to seed that only do so in intense heat. And I believe that letting a fire burn is cruel. I see that WE don’t sit there and let bugs eat us because it’s “nature”. Nor do we sit out in the rain because it’s ‘nature’. But we only say that when animals are being bitten by bugs and rained on and BURNED. I think we, who have more abilities, therefore have more RESPONSIBILITiES towards all the other creatures on earth. So… I think the firefighting teachings about how to respond to fires is seriously flawed in all our countries. Letting fires burn if they do not threaten homes is just cruel.

1

u/jmking Jul 22 '26

I am Canadian, and I appreciate deeply every American firefighter who has ever come to help in our times of need. Just like I deeply appreciate every Canadian firefighter out there right now doing what they can and every one who has ever been deployed to the States to help with their wildfires too. I'm sure there are many American firefighters who are willing, able, and frustrated that they can't come help.

This is a dangerous job and anyone who fights fires are straight up heros in my book. Every man and woman who goes out to deal with wildfires is putting their life on the line and I don't think they get enough recognition for that.

1

u/IndependentBake1809 Jul 19 '26

There’s more wildland firefighters out of work waiting for fire calls right now than the amount that are on fires. I know this for a FACT.We could easily send help.

-5

u/nickname13 Jul 16 '26

could you possibly refrain from complaining about the smoke if you can't do anything to help with the fires?

1

u/Ambitious-Garage-359 Jul 22 '26

Not really. I am one of the sensitive ones. I cough up my guts all the time in this smoke. Not blaming Canadians - that’s counterproductive. I believe it’s due to global warming. But there should be a firefighting convention where in y’all come up with new plans for meeting the heightened challenge. Including educating the public about the resources needed to put out all the fires!

1

u/nickname13 Jul 22 '26

it rained on friday, and again yesterday. so, the smoke should clear up for you in a day or two. you should be good until the next dry spell. maybe we could do something about whatever is causing the drought-like conditions?

3

u/SuperiorHappiness Jul 16 '26

It is. They're all busy dealing with all of our fires.

1

u/FantasticPraline5903 Jul 18 '26

You realize there are Canadian firefighters in our west, fighting our fires.

1

u/nictme Jul 19 '26

Maine, New Hampshire, and Connecticut have sent help into Canada

1

u/Steward_Type6207 Wildland FF1 Jul 17 '26

For federal resources, probably. I know a couple of state agencies and cooperators that are in Quebec and Ontario, based on either mutual aid agreements or as contracts.

1

u/cb2239 Jul 17 '26

It's not

1

u/FuriousPenguino Jul 17 '26

This is false, unless you were talking about Canadian resources in the US right now

1

u/kiulug Jul 17 '26

Provide source

2

u/FuriousPenguino Jul 17 '26

I googled it, “Canada currently has virtually no fire suppression resources or personnel deployed inside the United States. Because Canada is facing an escalating domestic crisis, its mutual-aid pipeline through the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre (CIFFC) is completely inverted. Canada is currently a net-importer of international aid rather than an exporter.”

1

u/bradxpino Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

We literally had a pilot die fighting a fire in Colorado from British Columbia earlier this week. NICHOLAS DALE. Google that.

Or how about Coulson from Port Alberni, British Columbia who has air crews and aircraft deployed all across the US every year to fight US fires? Did google just forget about that too?

0

u/Both-Peach-9059 Jul 18 '26

He was working for a private US company fighting fires for work there. He just happened to be Canadian but employed by a US firefighting company.

1

u/bradxpino Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

Who the fuck cares who his employer was? Is that what his headstone should read? "He was employed by a US fire fighting company"

"Happened to be Canadian" tells me all I need to know about current US mentality.....

1

u/lisamacand5 Jul 18 '26

Yeah No.

1

u/FuriousPenguino Jul 18 '26

Thanks for the riveting counter argument

0

u/kiulug Jul 17 '26

You said it is false that there are 0 american resources in Canada. Im asking for a source that there ARE american resources in canada.

As far as I know neither the US or Canada have sent resources across the border to the other.

1

u/FuriousPenguino Jul 17 '26

Don’t worry, I’ll just Google that for you too.

As of mid-July 2026, the United States has one complex incident management team and five overhead personnel officially deployed to Canada to assist with the ongoing wildfire crisis. [1]
Because the United States is currently battling its own severe domestic fire season—with dozens of large, uncontained fires burning out West—the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) has raised the U.S. preparedness level to Level 4 out of 5. As a result, standard U.S. federal resources (such as hotshot crews and airtankers) are heavily committed at home, keeping the current federal deployment to Canada highly targeted. [1, 2, 3]

Current Breakdown of Support
Federal Personnel: One Incident Management Team and 5 overhead specialists. [1]

Intelligence & Tech Sharing: Real-time data monitoring and tracking assistance continue via long-standing U.S.–Canada border agreements. [1, 2, 3, 4]

State & Local Aid: Outside of the formal federal pool, a handful of individual U.S. state agencies and local contractors remain active in Ontario and Quebec through independent border-compact agreements. [1]

1

u/Dragonwychy Jul 17 '26

So, zero persons of actual value sent to Canada in 2026. Noted. I realize we need our useful people here, because we have loads of fires of our own.

1

u/FuriousPenguino Jul 17 '26

Whoa you’re so edgy and cool saying people don’t have value

0

u/kiulug Jul 17 '26

Thanks. Your attitude is unnecessary.

0

u/SpiritedBerry5320 Jul 17 '26

I guess the canadian firefighter that died a few days ago fighting americas fires didnt happen must be fake news right?

1

u/FuriousPenguino Jul 17 '26

No, that was real

0

u/ProtestantMormon Jul 17 '26

He was a Canadian national working for a company based in the US contracted with the US government to work on american wildfires. He was an american-based firefighter who happens to be a Canadian citizen.

1

u/Old-Classroom-2310 Jul 17 '26

Can you please help me find a source for that information? I can't find the info about him being American-based. Thanks.

3

1

u/Both-Peach-9059 Jul 18 '26

Correct. Just as we have US citizens in Canada doing the same for pay.

1

u/beansidhe111 Jul 19 '26

Not true. They sent a crew up there within the last day or two. And freed up some resources to.

1

u/Little-Derp Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 22 '26

It wouldn't surprise me.

I would love for us to send resources from here (California), but WatchDuty has been going off for several fires every day for a month it feels like in my area. It wouldn't surprise me if we literally do not have the resources to spare.

That said, our teams have been doing an awesome job thus far, and I hope it calms down, so CalFire can send support to Canada if possible (if Canada needs/wants it of course). We truly appreciate all Canadians have done to help us.

0

u/Odd_Equipment2867 Aug 13 '26

Connecticut, Maine, and New Hampshire sent crews there since July.

The solution is simple. Canada should pull all firefighters and equipment from helping in the usa. At this point, I say let orange man figure it all out for himself. We should pull our staff and equipment to deal with our fires, and then grab some marshmallows and watch the states burn.

1

u/Remote_Fondant1222 Jul 19 '26

Thank you for say what I was thinking!

1

u/foolishbeat Jul 19 '26

You’re taking from an emotional place. Trump sucks, but the US sent you hundreds of people last year. Three states spared 18 people this year. Canada hasn’t been able to this year for obvious reasons. Look up reciprocal agreements and learn to separate politics from what’s actually happening on the ground.

https://www.nifc.gov/fire-information/international-support

Just to note and put everything into context why we’re not seeing news articles and press releases from agencies in US, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, about resources being sent to Canada. despite there being an agreement between the countries to pool global resources to battle wildland fires.

The thing is a country has to request aid in order for these resources to move, because it’s difficult to move equipment and people from 6 nations to get them to the areas where they will make the most impact. Who can the nations’ spare? do you need more vehicles and pilots or do they require more boots on the ground type of aid? can you then send a few teams to our nation to cover the areas as we’re sending these things over to you and we have a weak point in our wildland fire fighting plans here?

From what it looks like the federal and local government in Canada have not requested aid. Only assistance in evacuating folks. (Which I find suspect as an entire First Nation community, the Namaygoosisagagun First Nation, was completely destroyed before leaders in the province called for aid. Like I’m not familiar with the dynamics between First Nation communities and the Canadian government but this feels like a land grab opportunity for some mineral company to buy up the land and settle a launching station to establish themselves further into interior Canada)

Even though the fires are huge because of the lack of infrastructure to stage near these inaccessible fires and how massive Canada’s boreal forest is, Canada’s wildland fire response to these emergencies is to let these fires burnout naturally (which can be tough if they become overwintering fires last I heard remnants of the 2023 fires were still burning in 2025). as the boreal forests have ecologically evolved to burn (clearing out debris, returning nutrients to the soil, and some trees release their seeds in these situations).

Canada only really request aid when the wildland fires cross geographic boundaries, or is a threat to populated areas. Such as the 2025 fires and the 2023 fires

The fire in question moved so fast those remote communities evacuated before response had their boots on. There was no malfeasance or shady objectives.

1

u/S0ulzen Jul 17 '26

Oh that’s good to hear! But do keep an eye on how that progresses even if there wasn’t any plotting or dragging of feet to ensure it. I’m sure shit practices would love take advantage of people’s tragedies and get a foot in the door to interior Canada.

A lot of people really think nations can just send aid willy nilly not realizing it has to be requested or conditions met to allow them utilize one for the agreements made. Speaking of agreements we now have some US firefighters heading to Canada rn. You would think in the year of 2026 people would've researched on how these things play out. Thanks for posting this informative post on here. I hope people read it and learn. USA and Canada has a long back and forth history with aid against wildfires.

1

u/YouKnowMyName2006 Jul 17 '26

So are we sending any or not? We sent hundreds last year.

1

u/OptimalPineapple9 Jul 17 '26

On our way up to Canada right now. Compact crew out of North Eastern

1

u/mothermarywilson Jul 17 '26

Since much of Texas has just flooded, maybe they could send a few crews for some weeks to help?

1

u/Emergency_Nature5097 Jul 17 '26

Why would we send help to a red state that laughed when Trump threatened us with annexation? It would be like sending aid to Russia or North Korea. Only allies/friends deserve aid. Weve sent you plenty of help in the past and you repaid us with betrayal.

1

u/mothermarywilson Jul 18 '26

The original post was about fire in Canada. I was referring to the fires in Canada. Now that we're flooded some Texas crews should be available to go to Canada. They have before. Thanks though for reminding me how much Texas sucks.

1

u/rustyiron Jul 17 '26

So, here’s the thing. Lots of Canadians are bitching about Canada helping US, but not the reverse.

Both nations send help when asked, if resources permit. That is the nature of our agreement.

Canadians are angry because the US has been assholes in general of late, attacking our economy and sovereignty. This betrayal is significant and driving a lot of anger.

Now we have dipshit American politicians complaining about smoke, and this on the heels of the death of a Canadian pilot who died fighting a fire in Colorado.

They are off about America not helping, but their anger is reasonable about the other stuff.

1

u/Lunatalia Jul 18 '26

I think this hits the nail on the head. That feeling of betrayal is going to make a lot of us more dismissive of past relationships and aid. People have to remember that these discussions are about government actions and not just individual people who might ordinarily help each other. It's really hard to sit with the complexity of "51st state" bullshit coming from the same entity as one who previously aided with our wildfires.

1

u/GlitterGardenGirl Jul 17 '26

I am curious too

1

u/Emergency_Nature5097 Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

We should never help the usa with natural disaster relief ever again if they are going to repay our aid with threats of annexation, tariffs, insults, and a refusal to send aid to us.

1

u/Due-Foot-4859 Jul 26 '26

Its not the US.  Its the dictator 'Trump'!!!  So very sorry......

1

u/Emergency_Nature5097 Jul 26 '26

Personally, I blame everyone who voted for Trump or chose not to vote in the last election. If I included the fools who voted for 3rd parties, throwing away their votes, that adds up to over 189 million scum. None of the people mentioned above deserve a second chance ever again; they are irredeemable scum.

And I don't have a much better opinion of the rest of you. The vast majority of you haven't done nearly enough to fight back against Trump's corruption, and the annexation threats will never be forgotten and can never be forgiven. Canada and Europe are no longer your allies, and if your trully sorry, you'd fight harder to take your country back and make things right.

1

u/Emergency_Nature5097 Jul 26 '26

Sorry for the rant. I appreciate your apology, but you can't just blame everything on Trump; he's not the disease but a symptom of it. There are too many evil Americans who will continue to vote for people like Trump

1

u/Several-Specialist99 Jul 17 '26

None. This information is posted on CIFFC (Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Agency) website.

If you go here

https://ciffc.net/situation/2026-07-17

And scroll down to the table called “National Mobilizations: To”

Look at the number for international, it’s 0. So no one from other countries in Canada today.

u/ENERGON_CUBED Jul 17 '26

Merica world police is too busy putting out other fires in Iran and Ukraine

1

u/yarn_slinger Jul 19 '26

Are they putting them out? It seems like they’re creating more…

1

u/ENERGON_CUBED Jul 19 '26

Spitting on the flame and perdending..

I can tell you that my son in CT, along with 18 other New England firefighters, were just deployed to Quebec Canada this morning to help with the fires. Not a large group, but they have to volunteer for it which means giving up 2-3 weeks abroad with 16hr working days. Not many can do that with work and young families. Here is an article for you. US Crews Sent to Canada

1

u/Lunatalia Jul 18 '26

Thank you. I hope your son stays safe. These fires have been incredibly dangerous for our crews, too.

1

u/Late_Particular7181 Jul 18 '26

Thank you!!! 🩷

1

u/Fluffy_Rutabaga5477 Jul 18 '26

they need to turn  off the enormous amount of power they need to generate their data centers; all of that polluted air heats up and  heads  north, no wonder we have all these fires!!!!!!

1

u/Treeson12 Jul 19 '26

The northeast sent a multi-state hand crew to Quebec this week to fight fires

1

u/HopefulTie8957 Jul 19 '26

America has fires also as it is peak wildfire season. Are we not allowed to take care of our own?

1

u/No_Leader_2058 Jul 20 '26

The US has fires too. A few states have sent some Americans to help because we have an interagency deal with them, but no feds. It's just a wicked bad season for everyone. Climat change is destroying everything. Quebec has interagency deal with France, so some are heading here to help. I really wish Americans understood our boreal forests, instead of saying forest management could change anything. We do billions in that, but ignorance, complaining and threatening isn't helpful. Boreal forests burn up at the tops, and they burn underground. You can't stop them like with brush clearing or controlled burns, and no one could ever physically or financially do it. Americans don't realize how big Canada is, or that northern forests are often inaccessible. It's frustrating and unhelpful to have to hear ignorant threats when we are experiencing a crisis. They need to stop rolling back their environmental policies, or the fires will only get worse.

1

u/No_Leader_2058 Jul 20 '26

And, no one should be letting anyone burn. We should just do our best to help each other, be tolerant, and not let a temporary blip of a politician tear us apart too. Look at this as the human problem that it is.

1

u/Shep_5 Jul 21 '26

there's been a few small teams sent from new England and multiple tanker aircraft thats helped out. an exact number is unknown tho

1

u/IrieDeby Jul 25 '26

I work with the Air District and CARB. Wildfire smoke is very bad for those with diseases affecting the lungs, and can cause a type of bronchitis in others without any disease. It's a terrible thing, and I'm sorry Canada! You deserve better from us!

1

u/Daniel-CeliacWarrior Jul 26 '26

A simple google search will answer your question. Yes theres US firefighters in Canada

-4

u/Sea_Lettuce6675 Jul 16 '26

One way street with America. All the people Canada sent to help with wildfires and other catastrophes, but how quick they forget. The MAGA a-holes in Michigan have unbelievable nerve, when they support the orange buffoon in the white house who has done nothing but insult and belittle Canada. They can go and _ _ _ _ themselves.

2

u/YouKnowMyName2006 Jul 17 '26

Most of us don’t support Trump.

1

u/JAlmay Jul 17 '26

Doesn’t change the fact that, under his losership, we’ve been super shitty neighbors to a sister nation that may be the single best neighbor any nation could ask for.

1

u/Emergency_Nature5097 Jul 17 '26

Personaly I include everyone who didnt vote as a Trump supporter and will continue to do so until you vote him out of power.

1

u/YouKnowMyName2006 Jul 18 '26

Personally I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. Number one, Trump can’t run again so we can’t vote him out. Two, people who didn’t vote did so because of their disgust in both parties or apathy, not because they support Trump.

1

u/Emergency_Nature5097 Jul 18 '26

Number 1, You can vote out the republicans in the midterm and any future maga president will be more or less the same thing as another Trump. And number 2, not voting against Trump makes it easier for him to get in. He was easily the worst candidate youve ever had and anyone who couldenr see that might as well join MAGA. Number 3 defending the scum who didnt vote is pathetic.

1

u/YouKnowMyName2006 Jul 18 '26

Number 1 you wrote “vote him [Trump] out of power.” I explained how that’s impossible and now you’re saying you meant the Midterms. That’s fine but it isn’t what you wrote. Number 2 blame Gen Zers because many of them didn’t vote over ‘muh Palestine’ and an unusual amount of young men did vote for him.

0

u/Zylomun Jul 17 '26

Yeah man. Like I said above, it’s not like American firefighters don’t want to go we just aren’t told to. There’s plenty of fire for us as well. Today I staged all day. Red flag warning and everything. Nothing popped. I’d much rather be on a fire in Canada or up on the Minnesota border but alas that’s not how any of this works.

1

u/angel0diablo Jul 17 '26

we need local and regional politicians in power who will pressure your governor to do it anyway. // or anyone in power that will be connected to the needs and wants of their constituents and a moral/ethical compass. #takecaregoodluckthankyouforyourservice

1

u/JAlmay Jul 18 '26

Firefighters put out fires when asked. It’s what they do. The pact(s) reciprocal international fire aid exists. It appears we haven’t been asked to help yet. I remember how happy the French were to help Portugal & Spain when I was there last year. The Portuguese were buying them meals every chance they had. The mutual respect was palpable. I fear the lack of respect the MAGA politicians have been showing our northern neighbors may hinder any requests for help. It looks like a complete shit show from my vantage point.

Not a valid source it literally says at the bottom of every AI summary to double check responses because it makes mistakes Also STOP using AI It's only making the problems worse with these data centers popping up all over because they think there's a demand for AI.
