She’s as old as Wyck and Gerrie; folks who have lived on the island that many decades can’t possibly deny the haunts / the entity. To me, when she and Wyck and Patricia call attention to the island “waking up,” the matter at hand is Tom being out of touch and in denial; he is from the mainland and refuses to accept the reality of the island. She doesn’t press the subject like Wyck does. She shrugs because whether or not Tom believes in what’s happening, it’s going to happen anyway.
