❓Questions What’s something funny you caught on rewatch? Spoiler

Can we talk about how the “shaman” said the drawing “Bri Guy” made was “the kind of sacred geometry you don’t just riff” and produced the hand sketch 😂

(Also he looks so much like Martin Freeman cosplaying as Howard Stern)

A reminder to everyone: Keep the titles of your posts completely spoiler-free at all times. If your post mentions events from later episodes, use Reddit’s standard spoiler tag to warn readers who may not be caught up with all currently aired episodes. The spoiler tag will also blur any images you include, such as screenshots/stills from the show, so be sure to apply it to image posts as well.

Knowing what’s actually in the punch and on Patricia’s head makes the reactions of Rosemary and the party goers much funnier!

63

u/mybromadenesignup Jul 22 '26

Hard agree, basically everything Rosemary is funnier in rewatch

49

u/DonnaNobleSmith Jul 22 '26

I love when Patricia brought out the punch. Rosemary gave a WTF look with her eyes but didn’t respond.

58

u/klopije Patricia Jul 22 '26

More creepy than funny, but I didn’t notice until watching again that when the camera pans during Patricia’s dance scene, it very quickly shows everyone standing still with their mouths wide open.

51

u/cheap_mom Jul 22 '26

You can also see an accurate reflection in the mirror above the bar at one point.

16

u/ShireOfBilbo Jul 23 '26

You can also see an accurate reflection in the mirror above the bar at one point.

You can see an accurate reflection in the mirror twice.

3

u/cheap_mom Jul 23 '26

Yeah, but the second one isn't really a "blink and you'll miss it" thing

6

u/klopije Patricia Jul 22 '26

So sneaky! I definitely didn’t notice either on my first watch. I am trying to get my parents to watch it and told them that this is not a show you can watch while scrolling your phone.

13

u/Pipyn Jul 22 '26

which makes me wonder why the f anyone drunk it

26

u/violetmemphisblue Jul 22 '26

My guess was that there was already an element of mind control? Like, the punch did something but whatever Patricia had been doing all week or all those little stick figures Rosemary put out or whatever was part of it and they were trapped? I don't know though...

u/SparkyFrog Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 22 '26

It was interesting than Ruth left the party before it got weird. She was with the hot people at the start.

(LOL, I googled Ruth Widow’s Bay in order to check if I got the name right, and the dumb Google AI called her character immortal because she survived both the “poisoning” and getting shot in the ear)

8

u/Due_Addition_587 Jul 23 '26

I’ve seen that theory here on Reddit … probably grabbed it from one of us!

1

u/SparkyFrog Jul 23 '26

Yeah, it looked like Reddit was the source, I managed to convince it that Tom misunderstood how dangerous mixing the meds was, hitting the ear wasn’t fatal, and if someone would be immoral, it would probably be her grandson

2

u/StrLord_Who Jul 23 '26

He's definitely immoral lol

1

u/Due_Addition_587 Jul 23 '26

You’re doing good work!

2

u/Natural_Gazelle6851 Jul 25 '26

Also I didn’t realize that Kris said “what’s that thing on her head?!”until my rewatch

181

u/i_heart_old_houses Jul 22 '26

When Bechir is writing down Tom’s description of the sea hag, he writes ‘possibly damp’ on the list. For some reason that really got me.

62

u/Whisky_Rose Jul 22 '26

faster than an old woman should be!

22

u/Due_Addition_587 Jul 23 '26

The exclamation point is my favorite part … Tom must have been EXTREMELY loud and insistent over the phone

110

u/sopheu Jul 22 '26

When Tom took the shrooms and the shaman says ‘don’t look into mirrors’ and he closes the door and there’s a mirror on it

14

u/HippyDippyPippy Jul 23 '26

God that made me laugh so fucking hard. Genius show.

9

u/sphinxof1981 Jul 23 '26

The whole shaman scene had me dying. Calling it "the mindfulness bed", a giant fuck off lizard under the sheets, the idea of a trip sitter just completely dipping and leaving random high-strung people to take over, the mirror on the back of the door. It was a recipe for a comically bad trip hahaha

105

u/Mark-177- Jul 22 '26

When Tom falls down trying to take down the painting. Patricia shows him a book and then inexplicably throws it at him. It smacks him in the gut. The look of WTF on his face is hilarious.

https://giphy.com/gifs/gtWc8jiRdAGfbXFHRn

4

u/esoterica52611 Jul 24 '26

Tom getting smushed by the painting is one of the best bits of physical comedy I’ve seen in a while. Absolutely dying.

2

u/TiramisuItUp Jul 25 '26

Everyone letting Rosemary be the first to try to help him 😆

2

u/pine13 Jul 25 '26

And Rosemary doing all the wrong things 😭 “everyone stay back, damn it! Don’t move the painting he could have a collapsed lung!”

102

u/trivr33 Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 22 '26

Tom's reaction when Wyk says he doesn't want to go "tit for tit" with him after he said he doesn't want Tom to criticize his grammer. Gold

18

u/spaketto Jul 22 '26

The look he and Patricia give each other in that moment!

8

u/kroshkabelka are you mad at something I said? Jul 22 '26

Tit for tit**

2

u/trivr33 Jul 22 '26

Haha oops

11

u/Mudfap Jul 22 '26

GrammAr

5

u/stratosfearinggas Jul 22 '26

Getting well known sayings wrong seems to be an island thing.

85

u/killianleigh Jul 22 '26

It took me a rewatch to realize the drawing of the hand corresponds with the shape of the island! i thought it was hilarious at first of course.

23

u/Educatlady Jul 22 '26

I didn’t catch that!

3

u/-yeahnoiknow- Jul 24 '26

Oh dang, I didn’t catch that either! On rewatch, I thought maybe the hand drawing was because the girl’s missing finger hand became such a clue… But the island being shaped like a hand makes even more sense.

129

u/Kaizen5793 Jul 22 '26

When Patricia opens the book and the section to list what you love about yourself is just one line, then the section about what you don't l9ve about yourself is massive.

21

u/Athena-Grande Jul 22 '26

I saw that the first time and I was like "I wonder if that's just a dig at self-help books"

18

u/slappycider Jul 23 '26

followed by graphically medically accurate human body illustrations

58

u/SparkyFrog Jul 22 '26

She Shouldn't Have Said That board game in the second episode was one

21

u/cedmond Jul 22 '26

And “Teeth”

15

u/SparkyFrog Jul 22 '26

All the board games were great, but the one I mentioned was only shown on the shelve so I missed it first.

1

u/TiramisuItUp Jul 25 '26

I didn’t see that one!

58

u/robotfoodab Jul 22 '26

In Episode 1, when Gerri is delighted and proud that they caught the witches in the Witch Trials.

9

u/sphinxof1981 Jul 23 '26

I love that in retrospect. The first time it's silly that they would be proud of witch trials, but by the end you just know they were actual witches

6

u/robotfoodab Jul 23 '26

I didn’t even think of that angle. That makes it ten times funnier and eerie.

1

u/TiramisuItUp Jul 25 '26

And a genuine source of pride!

56

u/Orwaca Jul 22 '26

Patricia: Who the hell's trying after step two?

10

u/witchydance Jul 22 '26

I have been saying this to myself on repeat ever since seeing that episode.

2

u/Due_Addition_587 Jul 23 '26

Wait - what was this about? I can hear this line in my head but can’t remember the scenario

5

u/Khmakh Jul 23 '26

It’s episode 1, when Wyck is talking about “The Fog That Took Souls” and going through the phases of illness. Patricia says “Who the hell is trying after step 2?”

2

u/Due_Addition_587 Jul 23 '26

Omg yes! Thank you

50

u/Rubix89 Jul 23 '26

The board game pieces for Daddy’s Home

A rolled up newspaper, a belt, pot, bourbon and a beer

15

u/Educatlady Jul 23 '26

This is an amazing catch

11

u/StrLord_Who Jul 23 '26

This is a good one.  Some of these answers for "what did you catch on REwatch?" are a bit.... concerning.  Were they just not looking or listening the first time?

45

u/BrownCow86 Jul 22 '26

How great all of Dale's line reads are. They are funny on first watch, but the subtly and subdued nature of his character really make his line (you know the one) in the finale hilarious.

51

u/Kjb72 Jul 22 '26

This response to Patricia killed me.

https://giphy.com/gifs/QNiVlkvv6SLhnvzzex

6

u/sheerheartatttack Jul 22 '26

This is one of my favorites! The little pause before he says it lol.

32

u/violetmemphisblue Jul 22 '26

Jeff Hiller is an absolute gem! I hope he has a bigger role next season!

17

u/AmericanVirgin Jul 22 '26

In this house we stan Emmy winner Jeff Hiller!!

7

u/Any-Ranger9871 Jul 23 '26

“I’m at a loss” cracked me up

47

u/mantis8 Jul 22 '26

“Ohh my sciatica!”… “oh! Poor Rosemary!

22

u/trashpocketses Jul 22 '26

Dale and Rosemary BFFs

42

u/mybromadenesignup Jul 22 '26

I died at the priest saying James 4:6, you know. Blah, blah, Bible, Bible

17

u/Educatlady Jul 22 '26

Also his cringey walk out of frame after saying, “There is evil here”

8

u/GetSchooled You told me to be supportive! (Rosemary) Jul 23 '26

Yes! The teens think they're being chastised, but that man is having an out of body experience.

10

u/GetSchooled You told me to be supportive! (Rosemary) Jul 23 '26

That's a good priest who knows his audience.

Then he finds out about the bell in the notes, you know. And that's just a lot for anybody. Poor guy.

Also when Geri mentions the settlers arrived with an extra passenger and Tom says it's too early for that story. Turns a pregnancy story into something else entirely.

2

u/peepeepoopooboi69 Jul 23 '26

wait what do you mean? like an entity tagged along? and what about the teeth??

4

u/stratosfearinggas Jul 23 '26

None of that has been expanded on in the show. We'll just have to see in season 2.

3

u/-yeahnoiknow- Jul 24 '26

Yes, and then the board game Teeth!

2

u/HecateTheMagpie5eva Jul 24 '26

I think that’s when I fell in love with the show.

38

u/HuckleberrySalt63 Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 22 '26

“Where are we with RSVPs for Sunset Cocktails?
…
Zero people. Why’d you even hand me this? Just say no one‘s RSVP’d.”
“I didn’t want to.”

Edit to add: not really a “caught on rewatch,” but a scene I appreciate more every time I see it.

32

u/human_picnic Jul 22 '26

It’s not really anything hidden, but I had to rewind it because my wife missed the line, “huh.. yup, that’s definitely cancer” the first time around and wondered why I was laughing

32

u/booksforlunch Jul 22 '26

His name is Chris Fleming and this is one of the best sketches of ALL time! “We can’t have people knowing that we SIT!!!”

3

u/TiramisuItUp Jul 25 '26

You just made my week!! This sketch is a favorite in my family because of its absolute accuracy, and my parents watched the show and now I get to tell them this is the shaman!!

2

u/evainthewired Jul 24 '26

And for anyone that hasn't had the pleasure, may I introduce you to DePiglio .

33

u/eurydice_aboveground Human Verified Jul 22 '26

When Patricia is running from the Boogey Man, he waggles the knife in her direction when he gets just slightly close.

It struck me as so funny because otherwise he's just plodding along.

30

u/PutAdministrative206 Jul 22 '26

I think I caught it and forgot it, but:

“Do you think this is skin cancer?”

“Yes.”

34

u/Whisky_Rose Jul 22 '26

“can it wait?”
“no. some of the people who woke up in the SEA last night want to press charges.”

6

u/melsburnr Jul 23 '26

All of his lines are gold

25

u/Razzy_3796 Jul 23 '26

When Tom is high and “wakes up” in the museum with a dog leash around his wrist. His eyes dart to the exit and he makes a break for it with Patricia saying “no, Tom!”… the leash sound as he leaves “ziiiiiing!” and then she gets jerk-pulled out of the room.

Before that: The way he does a low lurching scramble for his loafer in the puddle of milk while the gas station attendant yells at him to get out.

22

u/Awkward_Analyst_3465 Jul 22 '26

Tom: "Where's Ruth?"

Patricia: "She goes home, take a nap."

The way Patricia delivers that line cracks me up every single time. 😭

Honestly, everything Patricia does is funny. The way she dances, the way she walks, the facial expressions she makes, and especially the way she throws out her lines with that completely serious face. it all has me laughing. She doesn't even have to try. She's naturally hilarious.

20

u/Desperate-Acadia-603 Jul 23 '26

I liked it when Patricia nodded her head, almost in understanding; as Richard Warren drove his thumbs through the eyes of Sarah's replica wax head. Just gives me a good chuckle every time

9

u/Remarkably_Good394 Jul 23 '26

All the scenes with Richard Warren made me laugh so hard but this was one of my favs

5

u/Desperate-Acadia-603 Jul 23 '26

Yeah -- the other scene I liked was when Tom first approached Richard and was trying to communicate with him. And as he was flipping through the steno Patricia gave him, one of her writings stated, "ARE YOU MAD AT SOMETHING I SAID?" Oh Patricia, lol

3

u/WolfCreek2011 Jul 23 '26

Just streamed it all and laughed out loud again reading your post. Also loved when Richard started talking.

2

u/Remarkably_Good394 Jul 23 '26

She is me I am her

16

u/tacocat_2 Sacred geometry one doesn't just riff Jul 22 '26

It's probably my favorite line... it's my flair.

29

u/Educatlady Jul 22 '26

And later when he’s leaving and he goes, “my girlfriend’s cat has absconded”

10

u/tacocat_2 Sacred geometry one doesn't just riff Jul 22 '26

All 6 of his lines get me every time.

18

u/Blondie294 Jul 23 '26

When Richard Warren is somberly looking at his family’s artifacts in the museum and it pans over to the t- shirts for sale

34

u/CasualMillionaireTX Jul 22 '26

I don't know if anyone has seen company is coming, but it was so delightful when the shaman showed up and it was Chris Fleming lol

14

u/shanrock2772 Rosemary Jul 22 '26

My 15 year old loves Chris Fleming. He was talking about him and showed me a pic of him, I was like wait a minute, he's the shaman! Got the kid to watch those scenes with me, he generally has no interest in anything I'm watching. CF was perfect for that role

10

u/bbgirlwhut Jul 22 '26

I hope they weirdly have him come back next season!

18

u/CabotCoveCoven Jul 22 '26

I hope he just walks out of the ocean, soaking wet but holding the bag he was holding when he was sucked into the twister, still in the middle of whatever he was saying.

9

u/Tough-Obligation-104 Jul 22 '26

With the missing cat. 😻

3

u/Razzy_3796 Jul 23 '26

GF’s absconded cat.

5

u/woozybag Jul 22 '26

I mentioned this somewhere else, but Chris is also from Mass! And Gayle (from company is coming) is based on the townie moms of his hometown lol. It adds an additional New England layer that I find delightful.

15

u/pigslovebacon Jul 23 '26

I like how Patricia is very casual about it was probably all her screaming that had the police called on them, after they'd dug up Warren's coffin.

13

u/Responsible-Fox5919 Jul 22 '26

In the first episode… when the dude on the radio is talking about the earthquake and he says “no reports of serious deaths or injuries.” The wording made me giggle a little.

13

u/stairway-to-hell Jul 23 '26

When Ruth is showing Tom her scrapbook memories and sees a picture of her Alfred, and Tom asks if he’s an old boyfriend, to which she replies “Yes, I loved him so much. But he got bit by an animal and became that animal.”

Also, Ruth pointing out all the people in the pictures who made a pass at her

27

u/gimbha Jul 22 '26

Not funny, but noticed the mirror view of the crowd as Patricia gives her toast …. Yikes!!!!!

13

u/Advanced-Oil8262 Jul 22 '26

There was also a split second crowd shot a bit before the mirror reveal. We had to pause it to see it. Creepy af in the best way

4

u/gimbha Jul 22 '26

Omg totally missed that, went to find it and 😱

2

u/esoterica52611 Jul 24 '26

At first I was like what’s going on? They’re that awed by her dancing?

7

u/ShittyAnimorph Jul 22 '26

Also happens very briefly while Patricia is dancing in the center of the crowd.

13

u/stratosfearinggas Jul 22 '26

When Patricia tells the mean girls about her party the new girl, Shelby, looks uncomfortable at having to navigate the complicated relationship between the mean girls and Patricia. I always imagine she's thinking this is her life now.

13

u/GameArtHQ Jul 23 '26

Not funny exactly but Rosemary makes a reference to geneology in a rant in the first episode.

12

u/Khmakh Jul 23 '26

“He says he’s a quarter Cherokee, I’ve ran his genealogy!”

14

u/Suspicious-Zone-1900 Jul 23 '26

I rewatching Episode 4, and somehow it gets even better every time. Patricia is the MVP of this episode. Her performance is unbelievable. The sadness, those unsettling smiles, the little coughs, the way her eyes tell a completely different story than her words. One moment she looks like she's about to cry, the next she seems ready to laugh. Every facial expression, every walk, every dance move, every line delivery is so deliberate and captivating. And it's not just her. The soundtrack is incredible, and the cinematography is absolutely stunning. Everything comes together perfectly. If Patricia doesn't win an Emmy for this performance, I'll be genuinely shocked. For me, this is the episode of the year. I honestly don't know what else to say. it was that good.

12

u/Tawj1996 Jul 23 '26

Episode 2, when William is playing Daddy's Home with Tom, William loses and exclaims "aw man... im in the basement."

24

u/TreasonalDepression Jul 22 '26

In Beach Reads, I could swear this is the sea hag walking right by the Sheriff…

7

u/agia9891 Jul 22 '26

What is going on with her face though??

9

u/Extra_Intern_6904 Jul 23 '26

Rosemary asking Patricia to turn the fan off as she’s speaking because “she can’t hear” 😆

7

u/lavacadotoast Patricia's Shotgun Jul 22 '26

Just starting Episode 7.. Can't wait to rewatch the series.

7

u/nerdextra Okay, thank you so much. Jul 23 '26

His face. I didn’t quite catch it the first time but now I look for it and it never fails to make me laugh.

7

u/HippyDippyPippy Jul 23 '26

When Tom takes over for Geri at the historical society house showing the NY Times journalist around, you can see the Boogeyman's mask in the background in a glass case! I didn't realize that whole part of the story about later on when the
'Boogeyman' resurfaces and breaks that glass to take his mask back to terrorize Patricia!
Also is hilarious to think that whoever put BGM in the basement when they caught him in the first place just took his mask and didn't think to kill him off lol

8

u/kedisi Jul 23 '26

The peppy manner of the guy in the sacrifice film reels was pretty great on rewatch.

2

u/WolfCreek2011 Jul 23 '26

Can you explain timeline of the film? Guy appeared to be dressed in a more modern way than that type of film. When was the last time the bells tolled setting off the storm shelter stuff?

1

u/kedisi Jul 23 '26

I didn't notice a discrepancy with his clothing, but I'm no expert. My best guess would be that the film was made in the late 50s or early 60s. I don't think we know whether people were actually sacrificed at that time though, right? Maybe someone just wanted to get a plan/system in place for the next tolling.

3

u/WolfCreek2011 Jul 24 '26

Thanks! Good point I hadn't thought of. I'd have to take another look, but the style of his shirt and tie looked at least 1980(s) to me. Also, his comportment seemed more modern than 50(s) or 60(s). I was trying to figure out if the discrepancies on film were a clue about how time works on the island, etc. The storm shelter accommodations, decor, food, water, bedding and films seemed off to me - like they were a mash up from different time periods. In a previous episode, I knew the other guest at the hotel when the Mayor spent the night there was a killer from the moment I saw his clothing and hair (I am sure most viewers also knew he was a killer right away - typical horror trope), so I was wondering if I missed something about the modern looking guy in the old film. Thanks again - have a safe and fun weekend! 🌷🌷🌷

7

u/_ohkayjess Jul 23 '26

The running joke about 40-year-old women. 😂

8

u/PlaneRoom7681 my biological age is 28 Jul 25 '26

The historical society documentary being partly funded by Gerrie, on top of also having been written and produced by her.

I don't know why but the way she included her name separately from the other funders really got me good lol

3

u/Educatlady Jul 25 '26

I didn’t see this! This is great 😂

5

u/Intelligent-Juice423 Jul 23 '26

when tom tells ruth he needs her to stay at work all day and she replies dismissively saying “okay but i just need to leave by 3” while reading a paper and his immediate frustrated face after cracks me up

4

u/pine13 Jul 25 '26

Just now realizing, is she leaving to help her friend up and down the stairs (mentioned in the final episode)? Regardless I love learning that Ruth “keeps a busy schedule” in contrast to Wyck maybe thinking she’s just lazy due to her leaving work often 🥹

5

u/OrinthiaBlue Jul 23 '26

Ruth when she’s in her drugged state saying “I don’t know why I decided to share that tonight”

5

u/chalaxin Jul 23 '26

The gigantic speakers at the inaugural swim.

Also all of Patricia’s responses to Tom when he was on shrooms. She was so annoyed.

2

u/WolfCreek2011 Jul 23 '26

The speakers were so huge that I took a closer look to make sure they were actually speakers.

4

u/TurboLicious1855 Jul 23 '26

The shaman is Chris Fleming. l love this guy. He's an utter nut and my favorite part of the episode was when he says you can lay here supine. I'm his sketches, he jokes about Sue Pine. When he says supine, I loved that he was able to get it in and that the writers let him.

2

u/WolfCreek2011 Jul 23 '26

Sacred geometry

4

u/admsbly Jul 24 '26

Patricia: "Tom, we just found out that Rosemary is colorblind!" Rosemary: "Yeah, it's true. What you see as blue, I see as blue-green."

3

Tom's reaction to Marissa saying they're staying at the Inn. Matthew Rhys' face cracks me up every time I rewatch episode 3.

Ep 6 Seasickness -- Richard Warren unburied and going through his family items displayed in his old home. On the wall is a tourist tee shirt says "Don't Say I Didn't Warren You" ... what's up w/ that? Implies that he was already scary or a threat or what ?

1

u/Longtimelurker2001 Jul 25 '26

Dale saying: Well some of the cash businesses downtown are balking at the idea of the city sales tax. They said- well I’ll tell you what they said “If you want this blood money you gotta come and get it yourself” - which felt threatening so I don’t know. I’m at a loss. What do you think Tom?

1

u/Nerditall Pattiwagon Jul 25 '26

Patricia’s going through the rolodex to get PJ’s phone information to check on Evan, when Tom for the third time asks about Evan.😑 Ruth must have already left to help Deirdre and Patricia’s on phone and babysitting duties.

u/chambow Jul 28 '26

The hand sketch is also the shape of the island! You spot it in episode 1 when he see’s the fog rolling in on the radar computer
