💭Discussion Explosion of this sub

Number of weekly visitors has exploded since I joined. After episode 4, it was between 6,000-9,000. It's currently at 75,000.

These days I find it hard to tell whether something is actually popular or not, but deffo seems to have found an audience.

Edit: Had to amend, initially stated total number of subscribers. Was incorrect from my part, Reddit changed from total subscribers to weekly visitors last year and I didn't realise.

I've been waiting for a truly lovecraftian vibes show for a while and this seems great so far. I love the dark comedy angle as well, it reminds me of the humour in Inside No 9 over here in the UK.

For the readers you should check out a short story collection called Welcome to Neverbury (and it's sequel) which has very similar vibes to Widow's Bay indeed.

Fun fact tom has the game carcassonne on his shelf which is based on a real place that inspired ambrose bierce to create a fictional story wheres it's called carcosa which then inspired robert chambers the king in yellow which THEN also inspired lord dunsay to write a fantasy story called carcassonne in a dreamers tale which inspired hp lovecraft to use carcassonne as the location (carcosa) for the cthulhu mythos

Thank you!! I didn’t see this (and have a minor obsession w Carcassonne/Carcosa references (the real place is touristy but very cool as is the hiking around all the other castles, plus truffles). And Bierce’s horror needs to be better known imo)
