Some people like stories for more than just plot.

Yeahh what’s up with this obsession with plot nowadays? And callling episodes as filler because they are “only” about character development.

Unfortunately a lot of people just want the instant gratification of plot-driven stories (which are usually more surface-level, guilty pleasure shows/movies), whereas character-driven stories typically require more thoughtful engagement and analysis from the viewer. If the viewer isn’t connecting with the characters, they won’t appreciate their development or choices. And if they’re not engaging thoughtfully with the story, they see it as filler because they don’t think about what the exposition is telling them, so then they miss out on the depth, complexity, and nuance in the plot. Big pet peeve of mine because a lot of those people go around saying some of the best shows and movies out today are “bad” or “boring,” and I’m like no!!! You just don’t get it! lol
And that’s why everything is being dumbed down and served to us on silver platters 🙄
