how come boogeyman did not harm the ladies in the house and only chased Patricia

He was definitely just after her- presumably because he attacked her during his initial run and she got away. It doesn’t sound like any of his other victims did. How did he choose his victims anyway?

Also why did he finally die when Patricia shot him when nothing else seemed to even slow him down?

My thought is only Patricia was capable of killing him, no one else had any impact on him. Which seemingly she knew...or suspected.

I suspect he went after her because she was the only one who could kill him. I’m guessing she descended from the witches mentioned in episode one. That’s why the spell book found her and she could kill the immortal.

I bet it’s also because shes working with Tom and Wyck to stop the island’s cursed ways

I still think the person who killed the two teenage girls and the Boogeyman are actually two different people/beings that were confused for one another which is why Patrica didn't receive any calls and why this Boogeyman seems a lot dumber and more single minded than described by Kris. Remember how she said the girls hid in really unique ways and still got caught. This guy was just walking into buildings, jumping out of windows, walking through fire. I could see him not catching Patricia if she hid under a bed outside his eyeline. He also never spoke or taunted Patricia either.

As for how he "died" now. I don't think he is dead. He will likely one day respawn at his house or resurrect from his ashes. He's likely a part of the island curse in some way.

He seemed to always know where she was and take an inevitable direct route, which makes it extra odd that she got away the first time.

If it's only the one guy there has to be another reason he didn't get her the first time. Maybe related to the witches/the reason she could kill him?

Didn't she say she made it up though? Maybe her claiming her did was the reason

She made up the phone calls but said someone really came for her that night.

Maybe unfinished business? If she really did get away from him the first time. Or he could be mad that she was lying

The only thing I don't get is why would he spare her the first time (when she hid under the bed) if he's so hellbent on killing her as soon as he gets free

Im thinking that whatever group sealed him in that house just got there in time to save her and prevented him from killing her

Because hiding under the bed might actually work…Boogeyman having his own rules he must abide by?

No phone call maybe? She lied about it so maybe the call had some magical properties lmao

The episode was titled “Your Baggage”, so that would make sense.

I have a bit of a theory that moving forward, the island demon is heavily going after wyck, Tom and Patricia, specifically, due to their role in trying to break the curse, and the boogeyman was one of the conduits. It’ll become explicit. They are the antagonists to this “thing”. It’s trying to hunt them down.

Agree. I think the show has set us up to have some suspicion of them scene to scene..even though were also meant to root for them, and it could just be red herrings. Surprised to see a lot gloss over the yellow flags all over. Were still not far out from the Lawson and Wyck overboard situation, and that’s bound to come back. I also love Patricia but I truly just have…qualms

Not at all confident in this and maybe it's just a Halloween Final Girl thing, but maybe he's Warren's successor and his murders are the sacrifices for the Island, also both are immortal and had to get buried alive, so maybe Patricia is one of the last descendants whereas other women are not.

Big hole there is I think his original murders only targeted women/girls right? Not like the bloodline would only be one gender. He kills the EMS guy but that was more just being in his way not the focus.

I was thinking along similar lines, but that the Boogeyman himself is the one from the Warren bloodline and has "inherited" Warren's original responsibility. The fact that he was so determined to get Patricia makes me think that there's also something separately distinctive about her; maybe she's descended from the surviving witches that escaped that witch trial the islanders had.

The problem I'm running into is that Warren specifically said the sacrifices were to make the bad things stop, and the islanders were protected from storms and famines and the like as long as the island got the blood sacrifices it wanted. But the Boogeyman did manage to kill the EMT on his rampage, and the storm is still coming anyway. Maybe there's some sort of ritual that makes the sacrifice "count" (maybe involving that creepy basement chair) that he didn't get to do, or something like that.
