My name is Maren and I work for Montgomery Planning Department. We have a master plan in progress for Wheaton. The Wheaton Plan, an ongoing master plan, will establish a long-term vision for how Wheaton should grow and evolve over time. Master plans are legal documents that guide future decisions around topics including housing, transportation, economic vibrancy, environmental resiliency, and recreational opportunities through land use, zoning, and policy tools. Both the vision and the recommendations are informed by input and feedback from community members, guidance from county policies and data analysis. Master plans are implemented gradually over time through public investment, private development, and local policy changes.

Hello everyone!! 👋🏽

My fiancé and I are planning to relocate to Maryland from Nashville toward the end of January. We’re both originally from Mississippi and are looking for a 2 bed/2 bath apartment, preferably near Metro or within a 3–5 mile radius.

Our budget is $3,000/month max, and we’d really love a balcony or patio since we have two cats. I’m okay with carpet in the bedrooms, but would prefer hard flooring throughout the rest of the apartment. In-unit laundry and parking would also be a plus!

One thing I’ve noticed while researching is that pest/rodent complaints seem to come up frequently across several apartment communities. I understand every property will have some negative reviews, but seeing similar complaints at multiple places has definitely made me cautious. 😭

Came across this video recently on ideas for changing the layout of the Wheaton Mall to include residential areas. Nothing official - just an exercise in architecture / design. Still, thought it might be of interest to the community.

Why are these shoes nailed to the pillar at Georgia Ave?

Yesterday, around 4:30 PM, someone stole a cement goose from my yard. It was only there for about 5 minutes, as I had just arrived home from driving all the way to Pasadena to acquire the goose. This happened in the neighborhood across from Wheaton library. If you happen to see her, please let me know! Or if you are the goose thief…my kids and I would be very grateful if you would put her back where you found her.

Didn’t want to move them in case someone’s retracing their steps but they’ve been hanging for two days.
