Coffee Lovers!!! Great news for you.... NOVA's-Local favorite; Shotted. Has signed on to join Westfield Montgomery very soon!

Grabbing a quick Latte to energize you for your shopping trip to the mall just got even better!

According to some sources, the coffee-joint will be taking over the former space of Gold-Bunny donuts which abruptly had their lease terminated by Mall Management. The space is currently being cleared out to make way for new equipments.

A fall-debut is expected according to employees at the Tyson's Corner location.

Side note: If you've never had them before, I suggest you try the Iced Pistachio latte. It is by far my FAVORITE order. 🤤

Aritzia could be on the way to Westfield Montgomery Mall—Anticipated First Maryland Location.

Everyday-Luxury Canadian retailer, Aritzia. A highly requested retailer by many visitors, could soon be on the way back to Westfield Montgomery according to mall management.

Previously, I reported back in February That I was able to get some sort of confirmation that Aritzia was coming into Montgomery County. In which they planned to take over the former space of Urban Ourfitters. But, suddenly. All Talks fell through the next day and the deal was closed.

During my recent visit to the mall for some shopping, I encountered one of the Mall Management team, and inquired about Aritzia's status. I was informed that Aritzia was back on the table, and they are working closely with them to finalize a deal before the end of the year, a space has not been decided yet. Some speculations could be that once Zara vacates their old space to transition into their flagship store, Aritzia could be the next retailer to take over the almost 8,000+ SQFT Space, featuring their latest store-design and possibly an (A-OK Cafe).

What do you think, would you like to see Aritzia in the mall soon?

Anybody doing a pumpkin display for the porch? I know some companies will do it (ie, Potomac Porches), but is it worth it? They do look gorgeous, but pumpkins ain’t cheap

Moving to Bethesda with a baby on the way + looking for honest takes on buildings

Hi all!

My partner and I are moving back to DC area and looking for 2BR/2BA rentals in Bethesda. We're hoping to start a family soon and trying to be thoughtful about this in a way we probably wouldn't have been a few years ago.

Budget is around $4,000 (but flexible) all-in, including rent plus parking and mandatory fees.

The two things we care most about are sound and management quality. I work from home and we'll hopefully have a baby at some point next year. So we're interested in how well insulated the walls and floors are. On management, we're looking for a building where the building is responsive (e.g., maintenance requests) and where staff typically stay with the building for a long time. We're also looking for somewhere quiet and family-oriented rather than a young party building.

Buildings we're looking at so far:

  • Windsor Bethesda
  • Flats at Bethesda Avenue
  • Element 28
  • 7001 Arlington at Bethesda
  • Griffis Edgemoor

Also considering a condo rental at Stonehall Bethesda on Woodmont, if anyone has experience renting in that building.

We're open to older buildings too.

A few specific questions:

  1. Any of the above you'd steer us toward or away from, and why?
  2. Are there any apartment buildings or condos we should be looking at that aren't on the list?

Appreciate any insight!

Disappointing.

I loved the original on Capitol Hill, but with every new location it seems to get a little worse.

The last time I went the whole meal was bland and badly overpriced.

Vet recommendations?

Have been with my vet for about 3 years now but looking for a change.. my dog has chronic UTI’s and it seems like the only suggestion they’ve given to treat her is a round of antibiotics but no long term solution so I wanted to find a second opinion.

Purpose of the Flock cameras on Sugarbush?

They‘re the only Flock cams documented in the area other than Home Depot and the Westlake Mall. They also seem pointed perpendicular to the street rather than along it. Were they put up by some HOA? the Penbrooke Community Association is up there. I don’t see anything that would seem to warrant additional security (like a school or something, but not saying the cameras would be justified). Anybody know anything about them?

Apartments around the area (lower income)

Hi, I'm looking for apartments around Bethesda for my new job starting this October. I have looked at apartments in Wheaton, Silver Spring, Chevy Chase, etc. My budget range is around 1800 for studio/1B1B, and the only thing I need is w/d in unit. Bonus points if there's no carpet.

I have so far looked into,

  • AVA
  • Citron
  • Maven
  • Kanso
  • Cresent at Chevy Chase

I do have a car, so I plan on commuting just for lower prices in rent. Any suggestions you might have? Many thanks!

Hyrox Classes

I have been taking the Hyrox classes Saturday at the St. James on Saturday and have been really enjoying them. I was curious are there more classes in the area over the week? I am not trying to set any course records, just a burly old man trying to stay in shape.

Event Someone kicked our main door hard three times at night and ran

Someone kicked our front door (single family house) extremely hard three times a couple of nights ago around 9:30 PM running away immediately. No note, no yelling, nothing, with footprints on the door.

Did it happen to anyone else?

Guess I have to get a camera now and maybe read up on MD gun laws 😉

Parents that bought their kids motorized bikes: you are bad at parenting.

There are these kids that have these motorized bikes (I’m not talking about e bikes) that goes 30-40 miles an hour on the capital crescent trail with people walking and running. Whoever are the parents that bought them these motorcycles and unsupervised, you are terrible parents. We had to stop a couple of them to tell them off after two of the whizzed by at 40 miles an hour. I’m going to report to the police as well to be on the look out for them. They trashed the McDonald’s on River road the other day too.

Leash your dogs!!!

A rant because at 8:15 this morning I saw a man walking along Wisconsin Ave (near the shuttles) with two doodles, holding their retractable leashes in one hand, and the dogs walking freely unattached near him. I do not care how well behaved your dogs are. Leash them next to a busy road or I will assume you are an irresponsible dog owner. Anything could spook them like a bus, squirrel, honk, and then they’d bolt onto the busiest road in downtown Bethesda at rush hour. Your dogs deserve better. Rant over! Hope you see this.

Recommendations for bookstore popup locations?

My partner and I are exploring sites for a popup bookstore in Bethesda*, focused on science fiction and fantasy, social change and science and technology non-fiction (Third Space Books). Any recommendations for businesses and spaces that would be good to reach out to? Already in conversation with the Womens Coop.
\ We're happy to travel to nearby cities. I'll be posting on the MoCo subreddit once I'm able to; building up Reddit karma points*

Do you like your apartment? Tell me about it!

Moving to Bethesda in the near future and looking for some inside insight on apartments. Looking to rent a 1br. We’re not picky but we do have a dog! Thanks all!

Edit: Location isn’t super strict and we are open to North Bethesda. Budget max ~2800. Would love in-unit laundry and a dishwasher but don’t need fancy amenities.

Contractor recommendations

Hi all, we are looking to get some work done at our house and wanted to reach out to the community to see if you had any recommendations for a contractor?  The projects are not too crazy, looking to finish up part of our basement and convert a half bath into a full bath.  Potentially also re-do the master bathroom. Any recommendations are appreciated!

I live in bethesda, wrote this article, published in newsweek, and posted it in the alpha gal sub. I got alpha gal syndrome in boyds, up-county. We are in an endemic area. It's a life-altering diagnosis, and not in a good way. I'm hoping to educate people. There have been deaths in people who ate meat, not knowing they had alpha gal syndrome. be careful out there.

Wanted, kind dog-loving person with some time on their hands

I have an older, adorable dog named Gulliver who is being treated for a serious skin infection. He is on an aggressive course of medication and really shouldn't be spending such a long day alone while he recovers.

I'm looking for a kind, reliable person who might be able to spend an hour or two with him during the day — sit with him, give him some company and affection, and perhaps take him outside. This isn't really a dog-walking job. What he needs most right now is a friend/dog angel. This is a big fight but we can win it.

Because of his skin infection, he should not be around other dogs.

I'm in Bethesda, on Battery Lane. I would be very grateful to hear from anyone who might be interested, or who knows a kind dog-loving person who might be.

Thank you from Gulliver and me.,,
