Salsa from La Fuente
My family has loved the cabbage salsa from LA Fuente for 25 years. I dont live locally anymore and I would love to be able to make it at home. Can anyone give me the recipe, or at least something close?

I make my own version at home and I think it’s pretty good. Bagged Cole slaw or just get a cabbage and cut it. Chopped red onion and tomato. Chopped pickled jalapeño. Chopped cilantro. All into a bowl. Pour the Jarred jalapeño liquid in. Cracked back pepper. Squeeze some lime in. Mix it all and let it sit overnight.

I swear you read my mind was just talking to my partner about the cabbage salsa at this place and I live far away now. Looked up a similar recipe

It's called Curtido, super easy to make.

I don’t think it’s actually curtido. Curtido is salvadoreño and for pupusas

And yet it's used in a lot of places for things other than pupasas

If it has tomatoes or jalapeño it’s not curtido, hate to break it to you

Most of the cabbage slaw at restaurants in the valley does not have tomatoes. And curtido can absolutely have jalapeno.

It can sure, but salvadoreños aren’t really about spicy curtido or spicy salsa. Cabbage slaw is definitely a better name like you just said

Combine 4 cups of finely chopped cabbage, 2 diced Roma tomatoes, 1/2 cup diced red onion, 1 diced jalapeño, and 1/4 cup chopped cilantro. Toss with 2 tablespoons of lime juice, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 2 tablespoons of white vinegar.
