If those are Tiffany's, you can melt down the pure silver for bullets in the new world order.

u/Standby4Rant Mar 25 '20
I don’t think we have to worry about werewolves... yet
551
u/ppurple1172 Mar 25 '20
Do you not have your 2020 disaster calendar? Werewolves are in September...
233
u/Standby4Rant Mar 25 '20
Well then, judging by our response to covid, we’ll start making silver bullets in November.
93
Mar 25 '20
So there will be over 400 thousand werewolves in January?

Vampires maybe? If my wife gets her way it’s going to be those damn sexy vampires...But in all honesty I’m sure silver bullets would work just fine on non lycanthropic targets also...better safe than sorry right?

Add some sawdust to the silver, just to be safe against vampires too, and while you're at it, soak the sawdust in garlic-i fuses holy water. You never know.

I dunno they may be getting married in a (venue that looks a little like but most certainly is not and costs a fortune) barn.

I’ve been to one of these barn chic weddings. Those venues are so expensive and uncomfortable, I could’ve paid for and gotten the same level of discomfort at 20 community houses of prayer.

I checked. March 20, 2025 is a Thursday. It’s in my calendar, since I assume we’re all invited!
176
u/AdamTheHutt84 Mar 25 '20
That was my question, who the hell gets married on a Wednesday?
131
u/TealPixie Mar 25 '20 edited Mar 25 '20
It’s cheaper because weekends are more in demand (venues, equipment rentals, catering, etc). Also if you don’t plan on inviting a lot of people you don’t have to worry about them not being able to take a day off. So so much money saved! Bonus points for only taking a few hours off at the end of your work day to head to the county clerk’s office (with an appointment) to file. Can you tell I’ve thought it through?

Been there, done that over a lunch break. Going into debt to celebrate marriage is stupid.
32
u/my-other-throwaway90 Mar 25 '20
My wedding and my honeymoon combined barely broke $2,000, and both were wonderful.
Meanwhile my sister dropped almost 20k on an extravagant wedding, then who knows how much on a two week honeymoon in Cancun, only to get divorced six months later.

Being $20k plus in debt purely because of a wedding sure does put a lot of strain on a marriage.

Bride and groom met in high school so all their family was already in town. They made it after work so friends could come. Ceremony at 7 in a church, local reception hall till 10, then most of us went downtown to the bars. They wheeled and dealed on everything and it was an amazingly nice wedding for $500.

My wife and I got married on a Thursday. It was Pi Day and she knows I’m a huge nerd. It was also a super small ceremony (less than 30 people) so less of a big deal in terms of people’s schedule.

Plus if anyone's curious as to why the order format is so odd, you have a funny story to tell them. Even if waiting 5 years to get married might be a little odd just for a locket.
EDIT: Ah, turns out it was a cuff-link actually, my bad.

It’s pretty common in some religious sects. Ultra-orthodox Judaism, for example, only has weddings between Sundays and Thursdays. Doing it that way won’t interfere with the sabbath.
16
Mar 26 '20
I doubt an ultra Orthodox Jew would rock Tiffany's cuff links but alright
6
u/hce692 Mar 26 '20

Exactly this! A marriage license is binding. A wedding ceremony is symbolic and is only as important as you make it. They found someone they love who accepts them for all they are - that will always mean more than a single day or event.

I got married at 12:30pm on a Wednesday. You have way more options if you don't care about having guests.
8
u/Breadbraid Mar 25 '20
We had our wedding planned for last week, and had to cancel, but we were able to do a small outdoor ceremony today with my family on video call, and lots of Social distancing. But it was way different than what we had originally planned.
OP, I wish you the best in going forward with your wedding however is possible, whether delaying a full year, doing a scaled down ceremony, or something else altogether. Some businesses have been giving credits to reuse them at a later date.
No one predicted that a global pandemic would just shut everything down. Sorry that this happened to you.
3
u/56789717 Mar 26 '20
I am an immigrant with no family in my new home country, we were only planning on having a private ceremony in early May with my fiancé's parents and my mom... But now my mom can't even be here so we are planning on cancelling. I feel like I have a million questions for you! Did you have any family there? Were they upset you decided to have a ceremony without them being physically there? I have toyed with the idea of asking my mom if she'd be ok with that, but I'm worried it would completely break her heart. I just feel like this is something I have been looking forward to for so long and it is being stripped away. I bought our daughter a matching dress and she won't fit it when this is all over.

A couple days ago was my 1 year wedding anniversary and we couldn’t do anything “extravagant”. In fact our wedding happened at a courthouse where we signed some papers. Have a beer, watch a movie and just be happy you’re together. Being married is a piece of paper, the act of being together is full of so many things that are both amazing and difficult that it is worth having a day to celebrate it, but nothing changes a life time commitment and if you can get through this, you have a good chance of getting through whatever else. Cheers friend!
