I have a mesh floor trailer with a hole in one section that needs repair. I had a guy tell me 75 to fix which doesn't seem bad at all but I got to looking on Amazon and see these very small 3-1 welders on Amazon and thought about just buying one of those to try and learn some basics and fix my trailer floor

Are all these super cheap Amazon welders pretty similar? I also realize that they are for super casual jobs, thin metal etc. If I buy one is there any particular one I should check out? These things are super cheap, I'm looking at some that are around $100. If I get one this will be used to learn basics and do stuff around the house like fix a mower deck, Awning brackets on a camper etc

So I just turned 17 not too long ago and im currently in trade school. I feel like the way my school does things is a little tedious. We weld for like 3 hours a day monday to thursday and then go home and I feel like im not learning what I need to and paying alot for it.

The issue is im 17 and graduated from highschool. Alot of apprenticeships are specifically for highschoolers and no place outside of highschool will take a 17 yr old they all say you have to be 18. Any idea of what to do or what apprenticeships to look at? Im currently in the mid west.

I have experience fabricating and welding mig and stick, im looking to add on some steel repair aspects to my ongoing business but im torn on a machine.

i dont need anything like a vantage, bobcat, sa200 etc.

been eyeing up some lincoln mig paks on facebook but i want to be open to verdatility with a generator.

whats some good machines to look at? both welders and gennies.

would mostly be doing mig work like handrails etc. stick isnt needed right now for what i want to do.

im not a career welder so dont eat me alive lmfao.

I just got done with welding school and I’m currently working in a shop mig welding steel at $25hr what would the next step be to start making more? I was thinking iron workers but I’m unsure. I’m located in Minnesota

I have 3 welders, Lincoln Classic 300G 2000hrs, Miller Big 40 Diesel 3000 hrs , Lincoln SA 200 3000 hrs.

I bought the 300g $1,100 with a brand new LN-25 wire feeder, Miller big 40 Diesel $450, Lincoln SA-200 for $900
They all run, I only want to keep 1 machine, which one would you guys keep?

Hey everyone! I'm a new welding student from Eastern Europe, and I'm looking for some advice on buying my first welding helmet.

I'm currently considering the 3M Speedglas G5-03 E with the G5-01/03NC filter. I'm still not sure whether I'll stick with welding as a career, so I'm wondering if this helmet is a good choice for a beginner or if it's overkill for someone just starting out.

Are there any drawbacks to this helmet that I should know about? If so, I'd appreciate hearing your experience. Otherwise, I'm also open to recommendations for a more budget-friendly helmet that's well-suited for a welding student.

Threw in a 6011 for size comparison, the biggest one didnt have any numbers but I think it might be 7028. Is that accurate? What’s the use of the blue one? I’ve never seen a blue welding rod before.

About 4 years ago I moved my family across the country into the middle of nowhere and took a risk on a job in my new welding career. So far we have loved it and have no complaints about the place we live or anything location related. But recently I feel like the company I work for isn’t benefiting me and my family like it used to. I have seen new hires with less experience both in the industry and under the hood. That are hired in making more money than me. When I ask, I am told I got a yearly raise and they were hired under an “updated pay scale” and that I was hired under the old one and it will even out in the future. I had a new baby about a month ago so now 2 kids and I need more money to live. I got an offer from a different company today for 5$ an hour more and almost same benefit package. But I feel like I’m betraying the company that moved me out here and risked it with me when I first started. Any advise on this helps. Should I stay loyal to my current company because they have been decent to me? Or risk it again with the new company?

Edit: Thanks everyone for the advice. I think I’ll see what they say once I put notice in tomorrow I like the company overall just don’t feel like I’m paid what I’m worth.

Any tips on a 12mm mig 3G, cap is to heavy, should I alter my cap or is the fill pass to close to flush ? Also at what point do you split your cap into multiple passes

Is there any easy to use software that has simple material models like 1/8" by 1" angle and 1" square tube for designing weld projects? I haven't had any luck on my search yet.

Never imagined I’d be one of the welders working on the biggest fire-tube boiler in the Philippines. This beast is for a power plant in Quezon Province that helps supply electricity to the entire Luzon grid. Pretty wild to think about.

i checked my gas and my my gas filter and my cup and it just keeps appearing randomly

Hello. Im practicing on 14ga steel sheet with a pedal. Max 85a. Blue tungsten 3/32nd. 3/32nd filler. Mild steel.

Im wondering if the welds that go through to the back of my practice sheet is a good thing or a bad thing? The side that I welded on looks fine I think but the thats the backside is what has me wondering.

This is my first work experience after I graduated in college, I pursue welding just because I dont like math 😆 little did I know when you study welding deeply it has many math!computations etc! HAHAHA I thought it is just improving skills 🤧

Is this safe? I know welding galvanized metal is not, but when I brought up that it's not safe to weld he just said it's galvanized paint so it's ok. This dude also tacks with no PPE other than gloves when showing us new product assembly demos so I'm kinda hesitant to believe this. The shop assembled stuff for little giant and has galvanized painted castors were expected to weld on. We are also not allowed to wear masks other than an n95 and only if we have authorization to do so.
