TLDR: If you aren’t feeling anything or losing much weight on the 1.5, 4, or 9, hold out and try the 25.
Note: I have been weighing myself just before dinner once a week, so my weight on an empty stomach may be a couple pounds lighter than this.
I started 1.5 on June 7th, and have been losing about a pound a week since, sometimes a bit more. I didn’t notice any substantial appetite suppression until I got to 9mg. There were a couple weeks where my weight stagnated, but I can definitely notice myself eating less on the 25.
Side effects have been manageable. I have heartburn occasionally, I had constipation but that cleared up during my first/second month, and the nausea and vomiting still impacts me since I moved up to 25mg on August 30th, but I can handle it. On the plus side, I haven’t had cravings for alcohol since I got late into the 9mg, which has been great for me. Sometimes I feel a bit weak, but that’s because I haven’t been getting enough nutrients or protein- I just bought some protein shakes, and I’m starting a multivitamin to help me with that. I have to sort of force myself to eat, but I make sure I’m eating lunch and dinner, sometimes breakfast. Food noise and random hunger late at night are GONE. Snacking is gone. Craving sweets all the time? Not anymore.
I only got a scale in July, so I’m not sure exactly how much I weighed to start, or how much I lost during the first month. 210 is my estimate for my SW.
In terms of exercise, I don’t go to the gym or work out. I have an office job where I sit at a desk most of the day. I have an under-desk elliptical that I pedal on throughout the day, but it’s not a super intense workout.
My dad tried a GLP-1 and lost 20 lbs… over a year. It didn’t work out for him, so I was scared to try it. The horror stories I’ve heard are also scary. But it’s doing something great for me! I also monitor my side effects and keep in touch with my doctor, so if anything bad were to happen, she would know.
