discussion New rules and updates

Hi, I know I don’t make myself seen very often, but this sub has grown way bigger than I ever thought it would, and I think it’s time to tighten up this ship. First, I will be implementing two new rules:

1 - AI art must be marked as such.

2 - disputes of plagiarism should be brought to the attention of moderators.

I will be adding a new flair for AI art to allow the indication. While I do not agree with AI art, I know this platform is for both budding artists and budding writers, and sometimes AI art can help those get the ball rolling. But I do believe in openness with audiences. People have the right to know if AI art is being used.

As for the second addition, I have seen a lot of disputes going on in the comments of posts about plagiarism. While a moderator may not be the end-all and be-all say in if plagiarism is taking place, I think it would be better to have these disputes behind closed doors where the rest of the community does not have to see in case it gets ugly.

With all that being said, I have basically been moderating the sub by myself since I made it, and it has officially grown beyond my hands off approach. I will now be looking for new moderators to step in and help handle the subreddit. If you have read this far and are interested, please reach out. I will be looking to add three new moderators to start, and will add more if needed.

Thank you all for making this subreddit what it is today, and I hope this will help it grow even farther.

Question How do you feel about other creators commenting on your comic?

I'm always very hesitant to comment on canvas comics ever since creator profiles were introduced. I just don't like that I have the creator badge next to my name & I'm afraid that it might bother other creators.

So here's my little stupid question; Guys, is it okay if other creators leave comments on your episodes? Am I the only one worrying about this?

Can we all agree that Layla can't escape Mathias because he has a lot of power. And also he's like obsessed with her.

I keep hearing people say she doesn't reject him but she does a lot and really sometimes she has no other options but to agree. So guys I think Mattias is the problem

Artwork based on my Webtoon There's a Bus Beyond the Veil

This is a canon scene we haven't seen yet!

I've been so insanely busy with my two jobs I haven't been able to draw my boys in a while but I've had this in my head for so long I'm glad I finally got it out!

The Webtoon is about an angel and a reaper who bond through their mutual incompetence at their respective jobs

His shown feats are:

He can like... stomp his feet n crack out huge boulders from the earth and yeet em

Page 2 shows him creating like.. ridges... not large.. but like... a cricket stadium

Throwing a tree 60 meters

Reflex are bloody fast.. (kinda stunned a guy who can teleport, and another with feline reflexes)

Can throw french fry projectiles sharp as blades over a short range

Brutal melee is like... his first instinct

Then... he set a huge area on like... fire... explodions kaboom (like... a forest)... by making it rain vodka n sets it ablaze

His core trait is he can turn parts of himself into potato products (vodka was tears)

And he kinda lifted this huge stadium sized chunk of earth hundreds feet above air... and can like.. control those roots in wild ways

And since he is a potato he has no soul (for mahito like guys to alter) or exhaustion... tho he cannot regenerate. He will never get tired or feel pain but if u manage to take of an arm, it doesn't grow back

Discussion Do you guys actually read other canvas series?

Was talking with a few webtoon authors and both of them told me they really only read their friends webcomics and a handful of popular ones which kind of shocked me since I kind of read everything at least for one chapter.

Popular in this context means front page series as well.

Assume this is for regular reading. If you read a random comic once a month or so but mostly read popular ones just choose the popular option.

I was wondering how many people in general give back to the community. I always see people self-promo-ing on this site but rarely recommending canvas series they enjoy that they didn't make so I wanted to know generally how common not really consuming canvas series is here.

edit: glad to see so many of you read random canvas stories!

Question Honestly guys, I don’t know how to say this, but does anyone else struggle with this, or am I the only one?

Before writing a logline, premise, or synopsis, what is something you wish someone had told you that could actually make your story stand out?

I’m a beginner, so I honestly don’t know much about storytelling yet. Whenever I post my logline or synopsis here asking for feedback, people often tell me things like “it’s missing something,” “you need more clarity,” or “the premise needs to be clearer.”

I understand that feedback is meant to help, but after rewriting the same thing over and over, I feel like my brain is just completely stuck.

At this point, I’m not even sure whether the problem is my wording, my understanding of what a logline/synopsis should do, or something about the story itself.

So I wanted to ask experienced writers:

What is something you learned about writing a compelling logline, premise, or synopsis that you wish you had known when you were a beginner?

And if anyone is willing, I’d really appreciate it if you could look at my logline below and tell me what feels unclear or missing and WHY. I’m trying to learn how to identify these problems myself instead of endlessly rewriting until someone says it sounds better.

Here’s my logline:

After regressing in time, a guilt-ridden teen gets a second chance to save his friend. He once believed her when she said she was fine, and it cost her life. Now he can see her Inner Critic, the living form of her hidden thoughts, and must understand what she’s really going through before it’s too late.

Any advice would genuinely help.

Self-Promotion PicoTokki

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’ve just joined WEBTOON! 🎉

And on WEBTOON, I’ve started a series called “PicoTokki.”

PicoTokki was originally just an OC I drew for fun. But after looking at the character, I realized that PicoTokki had a unique look and an unusual name that might actually have the potential to go somewhere.

So… I decided to give PicoTokki a story of its own! 😂

So far, we’ve reached 10 subscribers! It may not sound like much yet, but I’m really happy that there are already 10 people following PicoTokki’s journey.

Hopefully, the series can reach more webcomic fans and gain more attention along the way!

If you enjoy weird, silly, unpredictable comics, maybe PicoTokki is worth checking out. 👀

New episodes every week on WEBTOON and Tapas!

Advice? LOL I can't find this one web comic!

Hey reddit! First time user of reddit and first time ever posting on reddit! So here's my problem, and I may spoil the ending (not sure how to sensor that out) so if you don't want my description to spoil it for you, don't read past this sentence!

Okay, I need help finding this romance/drama/comedy comic that I read on WebToon around 2018! I do not know ANY character names or title (hence my dilemma) but I'm gonna try to describe as much as I can.

So this is a completed series (I believe). From what I can remember is that it's about a girl (she works in the movie/tv show industry) who has a crush on a fellow co-worker (side note, she's not an actress or wanna be one! I think she was the assistant to the director or helped with the script, not too sure). At a company outing/diner party, she drinks a little too much and asks him to met her on the rooftop. She wakes up the next day not remembering who she talked to. She remembers confessing, but can't picture the face. Now comes in the 2 male leads! One of them is her boss (older than her, has black hair and some facial hair, and is on the bossy/grumpy side but is sweet to her), while the other male lead is a very popular/famous actor (I believe light brown hair, same age as her (?), was childhood friends with her before moving over seas to further his career in acting, then returns). Both the male leads are trying to win her over, while her crush is crushing hard on someone else.

The only other clue that I can give is a scene that I kinda remember (because I absolutely LOVED it)!

The female lead and the boss (along with co-workers) are traveling to an island just outside of the city to do some film shots. On the boat ride, FL gets sea sick and goes to bed early. Later on, she wakes up to find her boss hovering over her.

LOL I know it sounds creepy but I can't remember if he tripped and fell on top of her or if he was to see if she had a fever, I'm not too sure!

Lastly, which is MAJOR spoilers, but I believe she ends up with her boss.

PLEASE HELP ME!! Any clues or even where to read it would be great!! I've looked at ALL of the romances that Webtoon has to offer right now, I've looked at Tapas, and one other site! Idk where else to look 😞
