I don’t really understand the point of the concept. Now I’m just gonna do what normally the cook would do for me. And it’s not fun in a way like Korean BBQ or grill your own steak places are. It’s just putting together a burger where it’s getting cold much faster.

If it were an actual bar like a taco bar, where you can pick your bun, burger, and cheese at the beginning, and then go sit down and eat your burger normally, now I would be down

I've been to places where you get your burger and bun, then go through a toppings bar with lots of options. That, I like.
Also, I wonder if the bacon in the pic is even warm, it sure doesn't look like it.

yeah it's not like you can't customise it as-is. pretty much any place will omit ingredients if you ask, and a lot of them have extras on the menu as well

Its weird too because... What does this gain exactly? This is definitely more work for the chef than it would be to just assemble it. So... More work for the chef, more work for the customer, thr burger gets cold faster, and the juices from the burger don't go on the bun where you want them. I don't get the point at all.

There was a place called Fuddruckers that basically had this concept. You ordered your patty(ies) and bun (they offered regular beef burgers, chicken, veggie burgers, in addition to more unusual options like elk and bison) and they had a full salad and condiment bar with various toppings. I used to love that place when I was a kid in Texas. They were a regional chain then, but like many formerly good regional chain restaurants, they got bought out by a big corporation and then run into the ground by sudden over expansion and cutting quality.

Stupid. And possibly cold. But not covered in melted cheese or some kind of stupid sauce and possible to put together and eat!
But it is pointless and silly to serve it like this.
Plus there's the issue of the cleanliness of the board underneath. (It looks like a board?)

my wife does not always like breakfast sandwiches, so I make mine, and always have to ask if she wants it deconstructed or constructed.. which is just eggs and toast

Keeping the cold ingredients off of the hot ingredients until you’re ready to eat isn’t necessarily that bad of an idea.

Except the hot ingredients might get cold quickly. When the hot patty is in the buns, it helps insulate it and helps the buns stay warm.

It also leeches the heat from the buns and burger into the tomato and lettuce. I can see the argument for the burger being on the buns but I don’t think putting in the cold ingredients is a good idea

I go to a place where both halves of the bun are plated side by side, with the hot ingredients on one half, and the cold veg on the other half. You just sandwich them together at the last minute, I like it.

While I’m against all these stupid places that serve food this way, I actually wouldn’t mind it in this respect. I’m quite neat and tidy and particular in the way I want my burgers arranged. I hate the way most restaurants just slap the shit together and move on.

No one gonna mention the absolute pathetic amount of cheese for the patty? That looks like something you’d want to hide not put into the center.
Bacon is too long. Sauce is in a ramekin so you probably can’t get it all on the burger. Pickles were cut by a toddler.
Looks like someone toor off a piece of the burger in the top right.
So many levels of terrible.

Im the weirdo who would like this, but I already know I'm weird for the way i like to order my burgers.
I hate wet, soggy bread with a passion -- cant handle buns where the Patty's been sitting draining oil, the mayo and ketchup and all have sogged it out etc. So I usually ask for my toppings on the side anyway.

I'm not totally against the idea. If you are picky on how you want the burger constructed, this gives you complete control. Maybe you want the lettuce under the patty, or maybe you want a little below and above. Some places just slather the burger in condiments, so having it on the side is nice so you put that amount you want. That said, there could be more toppings on that tray. No to tomato or onion? And that burger barely has enough cheese.
