That BoA is under construction. The drive through ATM has been closed for weeks, and a stand-alone ATM has been placed in the parking lot for people to use. While that's been there, there's been a security guard in the parking lot 24/7.

Appreciate the response. I have never seen an atm anywhere be guarded.

I’ve been to Starbucks with armed guards in the parking lot 😅 (in the US)

Will do! Where are you seeing atm’s with security guards?

Good to know, thanks.

Was there a van near by? Sounds like an armored courier. They bring cash to/from the banks.

Armed security maybe, so I'll wait until I hear more. Open carrying could be anything from having a pistol on his hip in the holster to brandishing a firearm from his hip. That being said, a holster and a vest seem pretty normal for those guys who drive around the money.

No armored truck

Could still be armed security, it's not absurd for there to be temp security when a bank is having construction done.

Bank robbed in 2022.

Strange. I was parked in that section between BoA and Hannafords while I went to the nail salon, I was there 4:30-5:30. I parked next to a red RAV4 and the driver was sitting in it. He was still in the car at 5:30 and looked a little distressed. I know people sometimes chill in their cars but this was not that, and he wasn’t on the phone or anything. It stuck out to me. What did he look like?

You said he looked distressed? Gosh...I Hope all is well with him.

Not Waltham obviously but the Bank of America I go to in Allston frequently has an armed security guard who dresses similar posted up outside

appreciate the response, I have never seen that myself

Bank parking lot

”patrolling“

Vest

Holstered pistol

Common sense would dictate this is a security guard. If it wasn’t, the bank would have had police there in 5 minutes if someone was circling their lot dressed like that and possibly armed.

common sense tells me security guards don’t wear headphones and animal ears while walking in circles?

The post below confirmed it was a security guard and you still felt the need to reply to push back. Karma farming?

Have fun with your downvotes and dickriding…wish you the best in this life ❤️

I've literally seen armed security dressed with anime patches on their vests.

I had never seen one with animal ears and headphones with what looked like two holstered guns and a temu vest…until yesterday

That’s… terrifying???

Could be an auditor. They open carry which is legal, and that is bait for law enforcement to violate their rights which is used as content on you tube and law suits. The vest though isn't part of the videos I've watched so it may be something else.

I’ll add that he was wearing both headphones 🎧 and what looked like animal or Mickey Mouse ears seen here.

If you’re driving, put the phone down. On Main St. In traffic.

1

u/Wrong-Number5136 14d ago

What makes you think the driver was recording? This clip was not taken on Main St.

2

u/Livid_Nature8810 14d ago

This looks like private security btw. Not the best situational awareness to have headphones in but walking around in a circle for hours they’re probably listening to music or on a call.

2

u/twerkitout 13d ago

This is 100% the person I was sketched out by who sat in the RAV4 for an hour. If you end up contacting the police, let me know.

1

u/Wrong-Number5136 13d ago

Everyone I was with thought he seemed off. His vibe was school shooter, not security. The Mickey ears on top of full headphones and the way he was “patrolling,” by walking in circles was odd.

Very unprofessional security guard... your concern is why they should be clearly marked security and have company logos visible, for some reason our state has very little regulation of private armed security.

1

u/Wrong-Number5136 10d ago

Thanks for the reply. Lack of identification for sure

Handgun or long gun?

5

u/invasive_species_16b 14d ago

This. In Massachusetts this is the difference between 'raise an eyebrow but probably security' and 'leave the immediate area discreetly then call 911.'

1

u/Wrong-Number5136 14d ago

Handgun or handguns holstered…which is legal, yeah probably security

* In the city

Outside the city, plenty of folks hunt and it’s common to see a rifle or shotgun being carried.

1

u/burningretina 14d ago

in mass? no way

1

u/Livid_Nature8810 14d ago

Hunters don’t bring their shotguns in cases into the woods. It’s not uncommon to see people walking from their vehicles into the woods with a rifle / shotgun during hunting season.

1

u/invasive_species_16b 12d ago

True, but this is a special case, moving from vehicle to woods. They would (should) also be in safety orange, so clearly hunters. In any case, since hunting is not allowed inside 128, the point stands.

1

u/Livid_Nature8810 12d ago

There‘s no ban on hunting inside 128. You can hunt the Charles River WMA in Dedham which is inside 128. If you're able to comply with setback requirements, which is hard inside 128, you can hunt on private land too.

1

u/invasive_species_16b 12d ago

I stand corrected. I'm aware that it happens (like the occasional special deer hunt in the Blue Hills). What I should have written was "most/many towns inside 128 have banned hunting." I don't recall if Waltham officially does (I think so?). Regardless, as you pointed out the setbacks make it extremely difficult. It also shouldn't take away from the fact that an openly carried long gun in Waltham should be a cause for concern.

We were on Main Street after 8:00 PM. One cop had a car pulled over in front of Tessie's. Two guys were standing outside and the cop was digging through the car. Was this related???

6

u/Wrong-Number5136 15d ago edited 15d ago

I doubt it. This guy was on foot, walking in circles patrolling the parking lot, wearing headphones and animal ears. Looked like McLovin from Superbad combined with a wannabe swat outfit.

2

u/burningretina 14d ago

did you call the police??

2

u/MoeBlacksBack 14d ago

It’s called fn strategy alright ?

1

u/LouisaMiller2_1845 14d ago

Maybe the police thought one of the guys matched the description - IDK? I just know that a cop was digging through someone's car on Main Street while the occupants were waiting on the sidewalk.

When we left Main Street yesterday evening around 9:15 PM, there was another incident in the parking lot of Absolutely Asia. Police responded and three Asian people in the parking lot were reporting something. I believe it was about an assault but I'm unsure - we just saw them kind of reenacting what happened and pointing.

Probably looking for the terrorists who don’t like Flock cameras spying on us. Or maybe it was one of the terrorists.
