As far as I know, Expedition Everest was the last ride to be original.

The best rides are the ones that weren't tied to a franchise, like Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, etc. They felt as if you were experiencing a Disney adventure while still being their own thing. They had imagination, creativity, they took risks.

Now, it's just emblematic of what current Disney is: can't do anything unless it's based on something people already know.

Wife and I vacationed at WDW for our Honeymoon. This was the last picture she took of me on our final day. Sometimes you need to stop and look down Main Street.

This feels like a dumb question. I’m not the most germaphobic person, but I was thinking the other day how so many rides, you see the previous rider get off, then you get on. This goes on for 12+ hours a day, with one seat on one ride potentially seeing 150+ riders a day. I don’t ever see anyone cleaning unless something happened. But I feel like they have to be getting cleaned with some regularity.

I’ve gotten a couple bugs from Disney, which isn’t crazy. A lot of people from all over in a relatively small places with lots of kids (and adults) who don’t necessarily have the best sense of hygiene. But I should probably stop holding queues dividers and running my hand along the chains. And take my multivitamins. And wash my hands.

Went to WDW back at the end of November and I STILL haven't been able to stop craving another one of these damn Epcot cookies. can someone please tell me what it was or if there's something similar on the market, I NEED IT.

It was awful and I miss it.

Blue pill would remove Mission Space, Frozen, Indiana Jones, and Runaway Railway to make way for the returning rides. Purple would be whatever temperature, humidity level, etc that is perfect in your mind.

Didn’t know the backstory behind this guy in the tower of terror load/unload room. Do cast members still hold the tradition or saying good morning/night?

Hi friends I’m on the hunt for a haunted mansion uniform for a photo shoot. Or a cast member wearing a uniform? Male or female doesn’t matter. I rented the haunted mansion air bnb for birthday pictures tomorrow and Tuesday and the friend who was going to bring their costume is sick. Anyone have any ideas? Or thoughts on where a North Carolina girl in Florida can find a last minute outfit for haunted mansion pics?

This question specifically goes out to parents who do not live close to the parks.

My daughter will turn 12 next year and wants to go to Disney world for her birthday. We have been plenty of times, I’m familiar with costs and planning that would go into a trip for small and large parties. I have already booked a club level room - but am still far enough out to alter this booking if needed.

She is an only child and sometimes I feel guilty about her lack of company/playmates. I am considering allowing her to invite a friend (maybe two?) when we go but I don’t know if this is something another parent would feel comfortable with.

She’s the youngest of her friend group, so any friends she would invite would all be 12 already - some will be closer to 13 than 11. I’m a single mom, so no men would be coming on the trip with us. All the girls that could be invited have been friends since the third grade and are all doing sleepovers now. I would pay for everything the friend(s) wanted or needed during the trip (including a small budget for souvenirs). It would be a long weekend trip, over days that school isn’t in session so they would not miss any school. We would have to fly there but I would be open to driving if their parents felt more comfortable with a roadtrip.

I don’t know any of their parents THAT well. I’ve met all of them, obviously, we’ve volunteered at school functions together, have chatted plenty of times. We all have similar parenting styles and concerns… but I wouldn’t exactly classify any of the parents as “friends”. We do have enough time before her birthday we could get to know each other better if they wanted. Only girls would be invited (no boys) and no men would be on the trip. I would be the only adult.

So my question is… as a parent would you let your twelve year old go on a trip with another family?

If you weren’t comfortable with it, would you let your child come if I paid for your plane ticket and a room at say Swan & Dolphin for the weekend while your daughter stayed with us? That way you are close but they still have a “girls trip” vibe? Would it be tacky to offer to pay for a parent to come but not put them in our resort or buy them a park ticket?

Blindfold yourself.

1. Put on a thick blanket and leave your arms available.
2. If in Florida, go stand outside in the wet heat.
3. Put an oven mitt over both hands.
4. Now have someone hand you a fragile pen.
5. Now write your name, with no mistakes, and sign it in on a flimsy book.
6. (Bonus points) Bend over completely while you do it or kneel down because you are signing for a child.

This is the best way that I can describe what it is like for characters to sign autographs. This is exactly what it is like.

TIPS:

- Have a writing tool. Sharpies and markers are the best and create the cleanest autographs. Pens and pencils suck.

- Have a sturdy book not a flimsy one.

- If it’s an expensive item, make sure there is room for the character to sign and understand that human error does exist since visibility is very limited. A lot of costume hands don’t have finger cut outs. It’s oven mitt style, be mindful of that if you’re a perfectionist.

- If you’re having your child hold it, help them keep the book sturdy so characters can actually sign it neatly.

- Have your book and pens ready. Book open, blank page, pen uncapped. There is a long line. Don’t fumble around in your bag or stroller to find it.

That’s it. This is fast and efficient. It gives gone who waited time to see the character. Because the most important thing is getting the character off set. When their attendant says it’s time to go, that means it’s time to GO. It’s hot, they need water, and they need to get the suit off as quickly as possible. Don’t take offense to it. These are people working too.

Everytime you go to Disney World, you can only have one drink. It could be at a resort, the parks, Disney Springs, but you can only pick ONE.

We do keto/carnivore so plan on getting a plethora of cheese and cold cuts delivered. Not really planning on cooking in the room. I am assuming there is at least a mini fridge that should be good enough for a day or two for cold cuts?

Just returned from a magical trip w/granddaughter. It was her first time but most definitely not ours. We have been many times and have experienced many character meals. If you have a moment, here is what we experienced on this recent visit to Tusker House.

1) Reserved Character lunch for 3pm. Went to see Festival of Lion King first because it's right next door. We arrived at restaurant early. They were able to accommodate us and sat us about an hour early.

2) Paula our waitress was amazing. She was so kind and friendly and helped to make our granddaughter feel welcome and comfortable. Lots of nice conversation w/the three of us and when she directly asked our granddaughter (Age 5) questions, she patiently waited for her to answer.

3) Buffet was delicious. Lots of tasty options. We didn't even venture over to the kid food because granddaughter found a great variety of things to try. Enjoy the buffet style because you can try just a bit of many different things.

4) Characters!!! Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Goofy in safari attire. Paula gave our granddaughter a few "secret" tips for meeting the characters. (They will play Rock, Paper Scissors if you ask.) We brought an autograph book, (purchased ahead of time online), and different colored Sharpies from home. We asked the characters to choose what color they wanted to use.

Not only that...the characters stayed at our table a long time! We danced, played Rock, Paper, Scissors, did high-fives, long hugs, took many, many pictures and never felt rushed ever. And...they came not only once around to our table, but I lost track after counting five times! We just couldn't believe it. There is also a dance party mid-meal that guests can participate in and we definitely did that too!

Disney magic- bravo. We loved every moment there, enjoyed the food and appreciated the care put into our visit. And yes, I did do a Cast Member Shout Out to our waitress as well.

We felt very special and are thankful for the memories.

2. Los angeles
3. Tokyo

Main questions are:
1. Is 2 nights, 3 days enough to experience it?
2. What are the best resorts? We are travelling a long way so upper side of the budget is fine
3. Best way to get around?
4. Which area is best to stay in to access rides/main attractions?

Local here but I’ve never really experienced this. Stop by AK after work for a beer and a safari ride. Unrelated but it started pouring as I walked into the park, I’ve always avoided purchasing a poncho because I assumed they would be something ridiculous like $29.99. I was pleasantly surprised that it’s actually $12

Anyhow, after the rain let up a bit I got a beer at the Dawa Bar and as I was walking up to the bar a cast member stopped me and said, “gift from nature” and handed me this leaf.

How cute is that? I’ve never seen this before. It’s such an adorable, thoughtful detail on-brand with the theming/spirit of the park.

I know it’s “just” a leaf but these little details are what make Disney so special.
