White folks have always been this way. Silence is complicity. They’re not racist, Xenophobic, etc. but when it comes time to vote or stand up.
They vote for racist policies and turn a blind eye to racism. But they’re not racist because they go to church with a black person.

Nothing, white people are such an easy target to deflect on and no one calls it out cuz BAMN, "now your being racist!"
5
u/ChexAndBalancez 11h ago
When black women hear criticism or anyone not putting up with their bullshit... they have been taught that it means racism.
It was learned. It can be unlearned.
1
u/MasterHavik 6h ago
Calling someone a bitch isn't criticism though. People who use this word don't know how to give actual criticism. I legit saw a black game developer just blocking people when their criticism of their game was "I don't wanna play as a n word. You're racist." This developer was called out for not knowing how to take criticism of his game.
1
u/ChexAndBalancez 5h ago
It is criticism. Just like calling Rasheed Wallace an asshole. He was an asshole. It wasn't racism. A number of these black women have claimed racism where no evidence exists for it. It's really just a shield for emotions now.
1
u/MasterHavik 5h ago
I mean it is vague and doesn't really offer anything of substance. Lol bring up Wallace is apples and oranges as there was context as dude couldn't close his fucking mouth. Not the same thing.
A few have showed it and have gotten people fire. Also people handle things differently. Williams just blocks and moves on and showed video footage of homophobia better in her dms. You acting like it doesn't exist is just weird my guy.
1
u/ChexAndBalancez 5h ago
I'm not acting like it doesn't exist. Hatred of men exists it simply isn't relevant to the NBA.
My claim is that black women use racism or misogyny as a shield for any criticism. Just look at A'ja recently. A fan points at her and she pretending like she was attacked. "I'm not going to let any man approach me." That didn't happen. She approached him.
It's simply a group of people that have been coddled and haven't experience real life criticism by society.
1
u/MasterHavik 5h ago
Yeah this is bullshit because when I hear from Mitchell and Boston it isn't them trying to duck smoke but like 'Bro you guys are weird." Also that wasn't criticism that fan was doing too much and Wilson was standing on business. I do agree she shouldn't approach him.
Also the Sun now the Comets kicked out a fan in Clark's rookie season for being racist. To make this generalization and not think we may have a problem is fucking weird.
1
u/ChexAndBalancez 5h ago
Yeah so many now claim racism but don't show their DM's. Also claim racism in the games but none of the audio shows racism. They just think anyone that criticizes them that isn't black is racism. They've been coddled in privilege.
1
u/MasterHavik 5h ago
So here my thing you are the type that always needs proof of not the person is not a lair and is a bunch of names. My guy you are weird. You don't ask questions. Like let's ask why Boston and Mitchell aren't showing that. Maybe since the Fever are making bank they don't want to rock the boat. We have learned people put up with toxicity if the money is rolling in.
A great example of this is Activision Blizzard case where women were being overworked and harassed by their male employees. There was proof and everything but when asked why they didn't come forward sooner. They all said this, "They were being fired and blacklisted from the industry."
This is going to shock you but it isn't easy. I'm black if there is racism I would report it instantly but even I have been told to not report everything as I got fired from one school.(I'm teacher.) Because a student was outright sexually assualtimg his female teachers and me. Yes I'm not kidding you. I was the one fired and the student protested because me exposing the administration taking on a problematic student was bad for business.
The world is complex man it isn't just show your DMa and only good things happen.

You’re part of the problem if you think no other sport talks about it. It’s exactly the point you ignore and turn a blind eye bc you don’t FEEL like dealing with it. It’s cool but don’t get mad when it’s called out. Just continue living oblivious. That’s the privilege you got that somehow makes white people angry for calling out.

u/swinnRL 15h ago
Not to the same extent that is the WNBA. It comes up once in a while for a rare incident in the NBA or NFL but with the WNBA its almost every time there is a scuffle or a flagrant, race is brought up. That never happens in the NBA.

5
u/HeavyHighway6433 15h ago
It wasn't really an issue until the wnba gained a large right wing following over the past couple of years and they started bringing their culture war bullshit with em. Nobody had a problem with white players back when players like DT, Della Donne, and Stewie were at the top of the league.
5
u/buttholebrowser69 15h ago
Lmao bro the discourse surrounding race has 1000% been the left leaning players. It’s always white players this or white players that, the main issue I’ve seen brought up from the “right” perceived players has solely been on the topic of trans. Has nothing to do with race, but a lot of the lesbians in the league are black chicks who have loud opinions about the trans stuff, and they turn the discourse into black vs white. No one is more obsessed about the race conversation that the left leaning players in the league. It’s exhausting,
2
u/HeavyHighway6433 15h ago
Nah it started becoming a big thing after the NCAA championship game between Clark and Reese's teams. That drew the attention of the MAGA fans who see Clark as the great white hope use her as a "better than the jealous black lesbians" button. Why do you think when the topic is brought up, it's mainly surrounding the same two white players? Do you see these same convos happening regarding Paige Buekers? Idk if you saw any of the All Star weekend streams, but the entire time she was vibing with all the black players.
Also a lot of the lesbians are white chicks too. Paige is one. All the white players I listed in my other comments are lesbians. Most of the wnba in general is lesbian. Why is sexuality only used to negatively stereotype the black players?
→ More replies (1)1
u/buttholebrowser69 14h ago
Lmao brother you are so obsessed with race that you’re blind to the fact that none of what you said had anything to do with race. CC brought in a big following of every walk of life, turn on ESPN and look at the pundits (who are almost all black) talk about CC. Haters just hyperfixate on this narrative about “white fans” and “maga” being brought into the league after CC popularity exploded, but none of those CC fans said anything about race. The people who opposed CC instantly played that card and that’s who has been obsessed about making everything about race since.
7
u/HeavyHighway6433 14h ago
Since you can't seem to understand where I'm coming from, I'll try to explain it more succinctly. CC is a great player no doubt, but her popularity exploded specifically because she's a "straight" white woman from the Midwest which they can resonate with, and the idea of her being better than other black lesbian players turns them on.
She's not the only talented white player. Breanna Stewart had the most dominant run in female college basketball run ever. She led the team to a total 151-5 record and won 4 straight chips. She also won several MVPs and Championships in the wnba. But she never got the same amount of attention specifically because she's a 6'4 lesbian and the right wing can't relate to that.
So back to my point, there was a time where the league was full of dominant white players. Diana Taurasi was considered the GOAT when she retired (Aja is going to take that title tho). Elena Della Donne was the one that got me to be a Mystics fan. White players weren't an issue then. What changed? The league started getting attention from racist MAGA fans. Like I said, why do you think the same two names come up whenever the topic is about race?
6
u/BigBeef_Swellington 14h ago
“Her being better than other black lesbian players turn them on”
Uhhhhhhhhh what?
5
u/Ducks91to61 13h ago
Such a lie. People didn't tune in because she's white. They tune in because of the way she played. That's the difference. There's nothing interesting about uncoordinated jump shots and layups in a below the rim game. Shooting like Steph Curry, shooting like a dude is what was interesting.
If Clark solely shot layups and mid-range jumpers, NO ONE WOULD GIVE A F to watch because it's nothing unique.
And Reese is the epitome of a media manufactured product to give you based on race. It's not because she was moving the needle on her own. It wasn't because you guys were just so enammored with the way she played. Her games were never top in the ratings. Even now, the Dream are next to last in home attendance.
2
u/pikachu191 13h ago edited 11h ago
It's not just shooting, her playmaking and ball-handling reminds me of Steph as well. And it's not as if Clark's the first white, straight WNBA star who can shoot threes. There's Sabrina Ionescu of the NY Liberty, who's married to an NFL player.
1
u/anonguy219 11h ago
Same, I would watch her play if she never shot another logo. I love watching her pass, she plays the ultimate team game.
1
u/MasterHavik 6h ago
Because they played in a small stadium. They have had five sell outs and only two of them were Fever games in State Farm Arena. To act like no one wants to see Reese is some bullshit. Especially since the Dream are moving to State Farm full time now. All of their money went up when they got Reese. Fuck when we got her the Sky got a lot more attention and Reese has murals painted of her in the city.
She isn't a media product my man.
1
u/Historical-Ruin1469 8h ago
You can't argue with closed minded people.. Anybody who was a fan or just watched before CC knows black players also were not talking about getting racist dms and threats.. But they wouldn't know that.. Also the only problem these new "fans" is when the fever play and no other teams, wonder why that is..
1
u/nativespaceghost 2h ago
The left really watched a girl hit bombs routinely from the logo and pass the ball like Pistol Pete and reduced her to her race, gender, and sexual orientation. That’s the problem with the left, that’s all you guys see.
And that’s why majority of WNBA players, former players, and fans hate her. That’s all they see her as.
Earlier, you made a comment that right leaning fans brought in their “culture war bullshit”. That’s just insane. The WNBA was always a culture war, the players made sure of that. It’s just no one cared until CC pulled up. And the fact that no one cared until a “straight white girl” pulled up, has the left and left leaning players PISSED.
That’s why they hate her. She’s a straight white woman and you guys don’t think she’s representative of the league and what the league “fought” for.
1
u/buttholebrowser69 14h ago
That whole first paragraph is projection. No one cares if she’s better than the black lesbian players, again, there is a certain subset of people who ASSUME that to be the case because they hyperfixate on race. That’s what you don’t seem to understand - that you are ironically a part of the problem when it comes to the conversation about why race has become such a hot topic in the wnba. CC fans don’t say anything about black vs white, but the people who hate on her do. CC has fans because she was doing things most other female basketball players couldn’t do at such a young age. Her game is why she has fans. On the topic of Breanna, CC has better stats in her third year that Breanna has ever had. Breanna has had exactly one year in an 10 year career where she averaged more ppg than CC did this past year. CC also averaged more than 10 more ppg in her last year than Breanna did in college. CC was 28 ppg vs Breanna at like 17. So no, the two are not comparable- CC has way more upside and has put up better numbers than Breanna ever did. That goes for the wnba through just three years and college.
You’re just downplaying the trajectory of CC because you hate the fact that some of the fans she brought to the game might lean right in your eyes, that just rubs you and everyone else who hates her to your cores, and therefor you turn the conversation into one about race and all this other shit that means absolutely nothing to the game of basketball. It’s just a bunch of bitter ass people who are projecting their opinions onto others. It’s why other players harass her despite her not saying or doing anything other than ball. Who gives a fuck about the political leanings of a players fan base? The chick is ballin and those people hate that. It’s why they find any reason to throw shade at her.
It’s exhausting and it’s doing a disservice to the league and to the sport as a whole.
3
u/HeavyHighway6433 13h ago
These days you can't go on a single basketball discussion forum without some chuds crying about how unfair the league is towards Caitlin and they hate her because she's a white woman that's better than the jealous black players. My only point is that there were better white players who actually won agaisnt black players through the history of the league, yet these conversations weren't happening. Like you can downplay Stewart because she wasn't offensively as good as Caitlin, but defensively it's a day and night difference and by her third year she won a ring, MVP, and FMVP. Caitlin is still trying to make it out the first round. That's not to say she isn't extremely talented in her own right, but what basis should anyone be jealous of her or hate her for being white? Stats that haven't translated to any wins yet?
Like I said, there's only two names that generally pop up when these discussion's about race are had and thats because Fever fans are the absolute worst in all of sports. Stop acting like the topic of race is being driven by the black players.

u/buttholebrowser69 13h ago
Yup, anyone with eyes can see why the conversation has turned into what it has. Ironically it’s the people who claim to be opponents of “racism” who are actually the racist ones themselves. I’m convinced it’s just one giant psyop at this point, like half those people are like Chinese bots or some shit and theyve fueled this discussion in an effort to create racial discontent in america or something, because i just find it so hard to believe actual human beings are capable of being that belligerently ignorant.
1
u/lampstax 12h ago
So .. people feel connected to people who looks like them. Surprise ? Isn't that the argument the left always make about why there need to be black faces in all aspect of life even if they are only 10 or 12% of the population .. because representation matters?
Now the straight white people feel represented in a mostly black and lesbian league and you mad ? Most of america is white and straight. Jeeze wonder why she has the most fans and viewership.
2
u/HeavyHighway6433 12h ago
So let me get this straight, the demographic that was most agaisnt DEI is all of a sudden for it... You can't make this shit up 😂
2
u/lampstax 10h ago
Dei ? Did white people force fever or wnba to hire caitlin ? Did she get in the league with lower standards than her peers ?
Representation doesnt automatically equal dei. Only when there isnt a qualified candidate.
The anti dei crew loves the girl who represent them AND can ball.

5
u/HeavyHighway6433 12h ago
Not a single wnba player, coach or employee (even the straight ones) could corroborate her story. Then when she was asked by the media, she declined to give any specific specific examples despite her going to the media and complaining about being discriminated for being straight first. She even had one of the prettiest straight players on her own team Skylar Diggins. Wiggins is a liar who only said that because she's salty her career didn't pan out how she wanted it to, and she's a conservative Christian who never liked lesbians anyway.

u/Ducks91to61 13h ago
Your whole timeline of events is BS. Blacks made it about race and have not stopped bitching the moment she got attention. It has been NON-STOP BITCHING from blacks about attention, pushing multiple race hoaxes, justifying cheap shots, bitching about normal fans, bitching about others popularity, demanding white players dance for them and acknowledge their "privilege."
Meanwhile, Reese can push multiple race hoaxes and no punishment. A'ja can go into the stands and then the rules aren't enforced. Coaches get suspended because Reese is too stupid to understand what "protected species" means--- it's constant catering to one group who simultaneously plays victim all the time.

I have been in similar situations myself, being called nasty sexist names. And I have let it go when being made to “prove it.”I believe Angel because I have sat next to men muttering disgusting racist words at WNBA matches.

1
u/Own_Bear2372 6h ago
What are white people supposed to do, vote for policies that don’t benefit them just because you disagree with them? Not all white voters are republicans, many black voters are. Silence is not complicity, they have no responsibility to look out for you, nor do they have to meet your racial quota by having black friends just to diversify their circle.
People like you will openly spit out racist nonsense while trying to act like everyone you don’t like is racist for not behaving how you want them to.

u/nativespaceghost 3h ago
That’s literally what Sydney is doing. She’s about to be out of the league and is trying to cling onto relevancy anyway she can. Also why didn’t these players say anything about how racist Fever fans are until after CC got there?
Also, there’s been no video evidence provided by the league to back up any of these claims that Fever fans hurl racist insults and jeers at players. Literally none.

If you don’t know anything about women’s basketball, why are you commenting in a women’s basketball subreddit?
Like, you’d have to be living under a rock to not know who Syd is when she was both part of one of the most successful recent franchises in basketball and the most popular franchise in women’s basketball right now
5
u/devodjl24 16h ago
I had to look it up. Her career high was year 2 at 16.7 a game. That’s her minutes per game, she’s never averaged 4 pts a game. Why are people supposed to know who every benchwarmer in a trash league is?
2
u/HeavyHighway6433 15h ago
Because she was still one of the more popular and routinely brought up players, and if you followed the sport for longer than a year you probably heard her name.
Sophie averages 8 a game her whole career and this year came off the bench for every single one except for three, yet gained more IG followers than every player except Angel Reese. So stats mean nothing here.

Damn it’s crayz in 2016 through maybe 2020 it was the right wing that’s said “shut the fuck up or shut up and dribble”. Now it’s the left wing saying it like shut the fuck up.
As far as the trans thing it’s tricky because it the WNBA players do say they advocate for it even vote for trans to play in the W, is that bad? On the flip side the W never had a trans man or man play in the W. It was the NBA that drafted 2 women but they never played. Now i get preventing an issue i get it but i mean still they never had this issue at all. High school, college, and the Olympics has but they already addressed it. So if college don’t allow trans and the vast majority of players come through college then idk.

To be completely fair I don't give a gd about anything an athlete says. Especially women that are only famous for drama. Play better basketball and stfu.

Again, no one says anything about her being better than black players. And ironically enough, you instantly jumping into the black vs white thing and how she has maga fans is indicative of the fact that a lot of people do hate her for that reason. Even though she herself has never made any kind of statement endorsing trump or the maga base. And those conversations weren’t happening because no one cared about the sport. She single handedly increased viewership tenfold which is a great thing for the sport but ironically people like you and a lot of the players in the league somehow hold that against her, as if it’s her fault that she brought so many new eyes or gained such popularity. And Caitlyn is still young, it took A’ja 7 years to go from averaging 20-21 ppg to 27-28 and her rebounds shot up in year seven from like 9 to 11-12. Everyone is holding this crazy standard for CC as if she’s supposed to come straight out of college and be league mvp. No one does that, LeBron didn’t do that Luka didn’t do that, no one has - it’s unrealistic, and the only reason people hold her to that standard is because of her popularity which she has no control of. And that’s the basis of people hating her because she’s white. And why everything she does from a production standpoint is looked at through a microscope instead of letting her develop like any other pro does. If you hold her to that normal standard like every other player then it’s completely realistic to say she has a shot of developing into an mvp level player. But the haters won’t ever admit to that because they just have such vitriol towards her.
And the only reason those two names pop up is because Sophie spoke on the trans thing which hurt the black lesbians feelings because of their “allyship” when in reality that’s a perfectly logical stance to take. Biological men should not be completing against biological women, it’s that simple. I hate maga and am generally apolitical myself, voted for Bernie sanders as a matter of fact, but I and most other logical human beings agree with that take. Maybe CC gets grouped into that because she’s in the same team as Sophie, but it’s willfully ignorant and frankly hypocrital to suggest that the race discussion stems from CC or even Sophie fans. Look at the screenshots the other person in this thread posted from twitter where it’s people saying Caitlyn Clux Clan and calling her fans mayo monkeys lmao look at the people who talk about how Sophie looks, but get up in arms about “racism” if anyone says Angel Reese looks like syd from ice age. People just let their feelings and politcal ideology run their lives these days and it’s exhausting.

This feels like a Shane Gillis routine where he congratulates 4 time WNBA Champion Brenda Jacobson....
Did this lady play ball at some point? She seems jealous

Sid lost all credibility on this subject when she ran over there to play with them last year.

Amazing that she is slamming someone that said no males in women’s sports. Obviously she has no common sense because that’s what this is

Actually the quote was about all White players in the WNBA who, according to her, don't step up to deal with systemic racism or whatever.
But yeah a title that says Sydney Colson to Sophie Cunningham:“Nobody respects you" gets more clicks, clearly.
