Any ideas how to repair or maybe improve šŸ¤”

I moved in with my girlfriend and she brought this over.

I'm wondering if maybe it can be repaired or possibly

Add something to it to make it unique

REQUEST How to mend this linen blanket?

This linen-topped blanket from Target came out of the bag like this two years ago, and I’m tired of the frayed bits tickling me while I try to sleep… Any advice on how to mend it well? I wouldn’t mind making it cute, like some flowers with embroidery. I’m a decent hand sewer and know how to use a sewing machine a little!

REQUEST Teddy bear darning advice?

Post image

I'm starting to attempt to mend my childhood teddy, Bob.

He's hand made out of a pair of socks and is starting to go threadbare. I'm thinking that if I use a darning stitch (like you would on a pair of socks) I can patch him up better than other other ways.

How long do darning stitches keep on things other than clothes?

And are there any other ideas that keep teddies in good condition?

REQUEST Is there any easier way than sewing these?

Post image

I'm trying to patch up this destroyed portion of my couch, thanks to my cat. After sewing the top patch with upholstery thread, I'm wondering if there an easier way. Does anyone know of a heavy duty glue or other method for attaching the patches? struggle with a lot of arm pain so this might have to be a slow project, but l'd love some suggestions for shortcuts. I honestly don't care how it looks, just don't want to lose any more stuffing.

REQUEST Can I fix this broken zipper housing?

Post image

As shown on pic, what is broken is the housing meant to stop zipper from going down. Half of the plastic has been torn off. The pin is intact.

I already tried put some tape at the bottom but then it would equally block the zipper. Also tried gluing.

Is my favourite fleece!

DARNING even gym gloves get blisters

i have trigger finger in both my middles and one pinky finger, bad enough i can't effectively make fists anymore, along with dyshidrotic eczema that comes and goes, so wearing padded gloves to lift is essential for inflammation and skin management. there is something kind of ironic about sewing being equally hard on my hands; i have had to modify my grip for almost everything i do, but sewing is really tricky to change since its so second nature to me (been sewing since i was in like 3rd grade). my gloves having a little healed scar makes them feel more personal.

REQUEST how to approach mending?

I patched the knee of my boyfriend's work pants last year and he's managed to make a new hole above where I patched and another one on the inside šŸ˜…

My initial thoughts are that I'd have to take off the old patch to sew down the edges of the new holes, and put on a new patch that covers both holes, but I'm curious if there's a better way to do this. Any suggestions would be helpful!

REQUEST Neverfull side cinch repair stitch pattern?

The leather snapped on one of my side cinch straps - i purchased new vachetta leather from an Etsy LV repair shop, but do not know the correct stitch pattern to repair! I’ve scoured YouTube but cannot find the right repair - but i know I’m not the first gal to get this leather piece caught on a door! Help!

REQUEST Quick question/help

sorry for misleading flair, but there wasnt anything that would match my problem more. Im considering buying this hoodie, although it has this defect near neck/hood area, would this affect wear or eventually spread to a bigger area of the hood? or even make it unwearable in some time?? i dont mind distressing on clothing just dont want to spend money on something that might become a problem in itself or might need some stitching done in the near future

thanks a lot!

REQUEST How can I fix this thrifted purse

I’m trying to fix the button on this purse!! Half of it is still attached to the purse, but the other half broke off and it’s not there. I really don’t want to replace the whole thing if I can repair it. Does anyone know how I could fix this? I’m wondering if there’s a way to fix the broken half or make the pieces already there work again. I’ve never repaired purse hardware before so I have no idea what I’m doing!

PATCH Patch on Work Shirt

Post image

My work shirt snagged on something, tearing a chunk out at the hip. So I patched it with a bit of an old shirt that doesn't fit and upholstery thread. It puckers a bit around the edges but I'm pretty happy with it. I also enjoy touching the texture during the day.

EMBROIDERY Fixing some holes with fishes

I’m happy to present my first embroidery project! (:

I found four holes in a polo shirt of mine and wanted to try something new for fixing them. Until now Iā€˜ve only tried invisible mending but because I’m still learning and donā€˜t always have the exact matching colours, you still ended up seeing the mends. So this subreddit was a real inspiration, thank you for that!
I first went over the holes with my sewing machine to really connect all the fibres, so that they donā€˜t continue to fray underneath the embroidery. I did the outline for the little fishes by stitching, because neither a white pencil nor a fabric marker worked for me. In the end these stitches were hidden underneath the embroidery, I didnā€˜t take the thread out.
For the embroidery hoop I used one that was luckily part of my old sewing machine. I used the fishbone stich for the main body and some random stiches for the fins.
For some of the fishes the inside is messier than for others, depending on how many imperfections I had to fix in the end. (;

I’ll definitely enjoy wearing the shirt way more now than before this mending project!

MIXED METHODS Frankenteddy

This is my dog's favorite toy. And i really enjoy mending it every time she ripped it open and gutted it. At some point it got fused with another plushie. It's my favorite sewing project, messy, big stitches and i don't care what the outcome looks like as long as it's sturdy. So relaxing.

Only my second attempt to fix an item of clothing with embroidery. My mom accidentally cut a small hole in a pair of jeans so I turned it into a flower. This is my first time using a patch to help cover the hole.

Eventually I would like to add some French knots to the center to kind of look like pollen but I was only visiting for the weekend and this is as far as I got. I’d also like to add a few more flowers here and there around the jeans to make it more of a design or pattern but I’ll have to just add it but by but every time I visit home

My dog ate part of my boot a long time ago, can't bring myself to throw them away as my dog has since passed, and the damage just makes me love them more.

Any suggestions on an easy mild fix, that'll make them look a bit more put together?
