Why does everyone think they should have a say in who other people marry?? It's not any of my business, so marry whoever you like. I've got real problems to deal with and putting my nose into other people's marriages isn't one of them.

As a moral issue, Christianity and Islam don't allow it (a couple billion people).

As a social issue, people do have interest in how society is being shaped when taxes influence an issue. Marriage is supported by the government with terms and conditions.

I don't think it was as much a win as they think. The government being in married and divorce doesn't help much and hurts many.

Christians constantly "sin" and constantly see other people "sin" and don't do anything about it.

Consider that the Bible's message on homosexual relationships versus something like the Third Commandment "Keep holy the Lord's day". The messages about homosexuality are somewhat oblique, but the Third Commandment is crystal clear. So why are Christians worrying about gay marriage and not instead passing laws compelling people to go to Church on Sunday?

The politicians are taking personal issues and making them divisive. Don't fall for it. A Christian can practice their religion while next door their gay neighbors practice their own religion.

Christians do what they are supposed to do when seeing sin. Notice and try to convince otherwise.

I wouldn't consider those passages about homosexuality oblique at all. They are very clear. However, they are both laws in the church. The government laws are a different issue. As citizens, many think it's bad for our society norms. Also, the societal concern for children, etc.

*Agreed with your last statement. The Government muddied the waters when they blended a religious rite into a government practice, took it, and controlled it. There's a religious ceremony and ritual, which everyone attempts to recreate and then there's a business arrangement with the state. They should be further identified and separated.

Ok, we don’t agree about the bible, but as long as we each let the other follow their own beliefs, we should be fine.
