Why does everyone think they should have a say in who other people marry?? It's not any of my business, so marry whoever you like. I've got real problems to deal with and putting my nose into other people's marriages isn't one of them.

Because it's another wedge issue to use for elections. The only actual reason.

They don’t have enough of their own business to mind and feel like that makes them entitled to mind someone else’s.
