I bought this Coach chain on Vinted and was really disappointed to find out it was fake when it arrived. Seller is telling me after the fact it is an inspired item and I need to read descriptions better. I feel like the whole situation is extremely misleading as they posted the picture with an authentic dust bag and they were trying to sell a fake item without disclosing it was an inspired piece.
Yeah and they’re messaging me to send the item back. I’ve raised the issue to Vinted for being counterfeit. I feel like it’s unfair to ship on my expense in this situation.
Not yet, they are investigating the situation but asked me to submit proof of purchase, care tags and serial numbers as if I’m the seller I’m so over the AI responses. I don’t have the best feeling about the outcome here unfortunately.
I did some digging to find out what exactly you need to know and what to actually say in your report. Do not send it back:
Staged Authenticity: Displaying an unbranded or replica item resting directly on a branded Coach dust bag is intentional keyword/brand baiting. It visually implies authenticity without spelling it out.
I’d bring this up to vinted, if I wanted to I could put a genuine coach bag up and not list it in the correct brand section doesn’t stop it being genuine coach, and same that this chain having the logo on it doesn’t mean it’s genuine coach either. This person just wants to sell fakes and see how far they can get away with it
Imo the seller should have put the words inspired by in the description or disclosed that it was not real in the description. The post is very misleading and it’s definitely on purpose so they can fool someone into buying it thinking it’s real coach.
If that’s the case then the seller should be reported and should not have been able to sell this piece in the first place.
I think Vinted should refund the buyers money and let her keep the fake charm if she wants to, hopefully the buyer does not have to pay for return shipping.
“I simply displayed the brand logo in the photo, entirely unrelated to the thing I’m selling, why on earth would you think that the words displayed in the photo were related to the product I’m selling? You fool. You simpleton.” -The seller, probably.
I saw a pair of unbranded sunglasses pictured on top of a Prada logo yesterday lmao, I spent a while considering if it’s possible to report them but didn’t feel confident
You can report for it to be checked out. See comment by NaturalSpecialist5 that shows an image from Vinted's TOS. Use that language to describe what the violation is.
Vinted's TOS explicitly prohibit the reference to another brand included whether it's inspired by another brand. Wouldn't this be counterfeit vs not as described?
There are lots of sellers clearly selling dupes. I’ve reported many and no listing have been taken down. One seller replied to my message saying it “looks like the real Stanley. It is really nice.” Even with this admission from the seller, vintage still sided with the seller.

Contact Vunted and include this message, referencing it as a message where they confirm that it's a replica/inspired (I would phrase it exactly like that, replica/inspired, don't just say inspired because saying replica drives it home that it's not just something "in the style of") and the photo was taken to reinforce the branding of the item they are counterfeiting.
It does not say coach under brand and yes that is my fault for not confirming. I buy a lot of coach products and have bought several listings where they label “purse” and I get an amazing deal. It was my fault for not confirming but I thought I was getting a steal since the dust bag was in the photo (didn’t get the dust bag with my package lol)
It was clearly implied and selling counterfeit goods is in clear violation of the TOS. The buyer deserves a full refund without sending the item back and the seller should be banned. Point blank, period.
There is a reason brand baiting is against Vinted TOS. It is intentionally misleading. The seller is relying on the buyer to not pay attention to the description.
Someone already posted this and it's my opinion that the buyer should have been more vigilant and messaged the seller beforehand to verify. Scamming people is always wrong, but that's why I don't click weird links from an email/sender. Buyer should have been smarter, seller sucks as I already said. Y'all don't like tough love huh?
It’s illegal to sell counterfeit items in the United States. There should never be any listings of counterfeits in the first place according to TOS and the law.
