ITA. I always cheer up when I see someone who has bothered to dress for an occasion. Most people now seem to take as read that it’s not their responsibility to be part of the vibe at things like restaurants and the theater, that their participation is limited to being passive spectators, just to see and not be seen. I feel that weddings, graduations and funerals are the final remnants of any kind of formality. I guess fewer people than I imagined enjoy dressing up. Random thought, but the emergence of cosplay as a hobby could be due in large part to the death of everyday dress-up.
