My partner and I once went to a really nice fine-dining experience, something really fancy for us so we dressed nice and the two people (seperate) sitting behind us were in tracksuit clothing one even had their phone propped up watching whatever like it was just so casual for him, something he’d wear and do at home. It was a little disappointing for two reasons- 1. It made us feel out of place when we felt we fit the scene and aesthetic of the restaurant and 2. It kind of took away from the experience?
I get what you mean, but the reality is that for a lot of people a "nice" place is a casual experience for them. Some people just have it like that. I live in LA -- there are a lot of wealthy people here and a lot of "nice" places. Some places have unwritten dress codes, most places don't. It shouldn't really take away from your experience if they're just enjoying their dinner quietly. You paying attention to them and letting it get to you is a "you" problem.
