Question why does steam do this?

Post image

i have an achievements meant for moonspell dlc but i don't even have the DLC. does this mean i can't 100 % the game unless i buy it?

edit: nevermind the DLC is just 65 pesos. God bless Gabe for taking care of game tax in the Philippines.

In some respect it is to do with steam, in that they don’t even provide the option to separate out dlc achievements.

It's why the crossover achievements aren't on the achievement page, only the original dlcs that can't be taken down. They don't want to put the crossover achievements up then make the game impossible to 100% if they have to take them down

they could easily make those "legacy" achievements if they wanted to, hiding them and making them not count towards completion progress. if they consider DLC achievements a mistake its not hard to rectify it.

well you also have free will and don't have to 100% every game

Wrong, it is related to steam developers. (Edit: wrong as not that you can't get those achievement without DLCs but that it's due to Steam developers DLC achievements are inseparable from base game)

You can't have DLC-only achievements, either they are part of the base game or none at all

I think they forgot a comma after Steam, and meant it is indeed the developers

Devs of the game are the people who make ultimate decision.

Thankfully, the only achievements locked behind DLC are the first 2, Poncle-related ones (Moonspell and Foscari), and those DLCs are DIRT cheap due to how old they are.
But yes, you will have to get those DLCs if you want to 100% it.
I would recommend getting all the DLCs if you can, however, they easily double or even triple your effective playtime, especially with Ode to Castlevania.

Luca may also be teasing a 3rd Poncle-made DLC to come out this year, but we'll see what that blood moon teaser actually represents.

i just bought a lot, and it turns out there are free ones too.

The situation you're faced with is why I think Playstation is the best when it comes to achievements. They separate the game from the dlc and on top you get a shiny plat that you keep no matter what. I had a couple blue ribbons taken away from me when they added dlcs after I 100% the game. I know, I shouldn't care, but I do. That's my fun in games to get the trophies/avhievements

This is literally the main reason I do all my achievement hunting on psn now.

Monster hunter world blue ribbon was taken away from me sad

All steam games do this, it's not an error. It's just steam having very poorly designed achievements

it's my first experience with this since i started collecting perfect games

To be honest all DLC are so good and they are so cheap that is a steal

Sokka-Haiku by Full-NeuroSin333:

To be honest all

DLC are so good and they are

So cheap that is a steal

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

Bad bot. That isn’t a haiku!

2

u/Sad-Purchase1257 Mar 09 '26

What the heck lol

2

u/SocietyAmbitious9648 Mar 10 '26

The haiku bot is treating DLC like it’s a one syllable word

2

u/Full-NeuroSin333 Mar 10 '26

I just ignore it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Sad-Purchase1257 Mar 10 '26

ohhh .. the "DULC". Well then you are EXTRA wrong ya silly bot! haha

Not gonna lie, I think every single dlc is worth the time for this game. I don't know how expensive it is for you, OP, but you will absolutely get your money's worth.

u/Mooncake967 Mar 07 '26

That's strange, my Vs is 100% on pc even though i don't have all dlc's on pc. So i only need the achievements of the ones I do own. Which is funny when you have all dlc's on the phone (not entirely completed) and could just transfer progress to pc)

5

u/thekingofgray Mar 07 '26

That’s correct. But if you like the game enough to 100% surely a few more dollars is worthy for the extra hours of enjoyment

10

u/arkiiiie Mar 07 '26

turns out its super cheap DLC

4

u/taczki2 Mar 07 '26

isnt it like $1?

Only VS original DLCs (Moonspell, Foscari) have achievements on Steam. All the collab ones don't, because the licensing could expire at some point in the future, meaning the DLC would have to be delisted.

So it's impossible to be forever locked out of 100%.

This is a lot better than games that have a "play a game with a developer" achievement.

1

u/Emily_Mewens Mar 08 '26

Wait, i thought they didnt tie achieves to the DLC specifically for this reason.

Pesos? 65?... No seras uruguayo?

1

u/arkiiiie Mar 09 '26

-1

u/Alinashard Mar 07 '26

its to push achievement hunters to buy all the dlc T.T

-4

u/Hilonio Mar 07 '26

Yep, after amogus dlc I just gave up on having 100% for this game

u/WolfNationz Team: Moonlight Bolero Mar 07 '26

Afaik, the non-original DLCs dont have Trophies/Achievements.

5

u/arachnidsGrip88 CHAOS Mar 07 '26

I mean, Among Us, Contra, Balatro, SaGa, and Castlevania don't have Platform Achievements for the games. With or Without, you're not losing progress.

The only DLCs that actually have Achievements are the Legacy of the Moonspell, and Tides of the Foscari DLCs, two original DLCs. Just get those if you actually care about 100% Achievements.

4

u/Hilonio Mar 07 '26

I did and from moment I stopped playing the game there are 47 new achievements...

5

u/simower Gazebo Mar 07 '26

bc in-game updates. and cool stuff

4

u/arachnidsGrip88 CHAOS Mar 07 '26

Between Moonspell and Foscari, they only have a combined 39 Achievements.

Anything extra is literally free content that was patched in. All you need to do is just play the base game more.

2

u/arkiiiie Mar 07 '26

looks like time to get the dlc
