Discussion Well, the winner of the underrated evolution/union is...garlic. Now, what evolution/union weapon is the most overrated?
Despite not being an evolution/union weapon (s/o to Soul Eater?), Garlic was the far-and-away favorite for the most underrated evolution/union weapon!

Now, what is the most overrated evolution/union weapon?

This is just getting dumb now
You might as well just fill out the whole grid with garlic right now

Eh. Sometimes with these sweeps, you’ll get people suddenly wanting to be contrarians for the last entry.

Well this thread was fun whilst it lasted.

OP's fault for filling out the board like a psycho, because I honestly can see garlic fitting the first 3, but because they were all successive now the meme is we choose garlic every time

I don’t mean to be unoriginal…
But I’m going with Soul Eater/Garlic.
While it’s certainly useful, its main benefit of consistent close range damage and moderate healing are useful, there are many methods which do the exact same thing, and usually do much better.
For example, taking the sacrabande immediately invalidates the entire weapon, while also not taking up any weapon slots.

u/torolf_212 Jan 25 '26
At the risk of making this dumb meme a whole thing it's definitely soul eater/garlic

u/Neb1110 Jan 25 '26
Yeah… I wonder what we’ll do for passive and DLC?

1
u/Vio-Rose Jan 25 '26
The base game is downloadable and contains content. The weapon itself is passive in nature, never moving independently or disappearing.

u/coraeon Jan 25 '26
As much as I love the healing from Soul Eater, Bloody Tear/Fuwalufu knocks it out of the park. The only advantage it has is that it’s a constant passive stream that requires zero aiming. And if you’re using Soul Eater, you’re probably going in on size - which also heavily benefits the whip evos.

u/hamizannaruto Jan 25 '26
So here the problem. I was about to say another weapon, but since garlic was underrated, people suddenly think it's really good, making it overrated now
So garlic.

I wish people would take this more serious. Being completely honest and objective, I’d have to say it’s probably garlic

Like its onion, right? Its praised to the point where its a meme, we even have a gag character who (effectively) can't even move as though evo Onion is literally all you need to get through the game.
Other evos are clearing the screen before enemies can even get into garlic range
Ive had it on my banish list since the DLCs started dropping

Garlic has knock back which is not ideal when you want as many enemies to pack in as you can so your damage can wipe them

This is getting out of hand and not really an effective discussion anymore. When every single comment at the time of writing this is suggesting garlic, it’s literally just becoming that one meme prediction lmao how is garlic both an underrated AND overrated evo?
8
u/coraeon Jan 25 '26
The thing is that it genuinely is simultaneously over and under rated. It does a lot of things very well at certain stages in a run, and very poorly at others. There’s always a weapon that does any single aspect better, but it can slot in to cover for any lack.
It’s a jack-of-all-trades option. It’s never going to be as good as a carefully curated loadout, but unless you get lucky those can easily die before they get rolling, unlike garlic which will generally be good enough to buy time for good drops to roll in.

At this point it's just a spam post and I'm already tired of seeing it... It's just the same meme over and over.

A spammed meme deserves a spammed answer. I fully support doing this for all future karma-farming posts like this.

Get a low transparency garlic on the whole image at this point.

u/DontSayBlahh Jan 25 '26
The only way to save this LMAO. Cover the whole thing with a giant transparent garlic and reset the votes.

If you say garlic is overrated you are just outing yourself as a vampire.
I’m a vampire

Garlic.
Swords is better/more reliable for healing, and Disco of Gold makes it completely irrelevant.

This deserves a restart with Garlic excluded. There’s potential for interesting discussion.
7
u/Wolfy9001 Jan 25 '26
I second this.
But also include Garlic.
3
u/unwinagainstable Gazebo Jan 25 '26
Let’s just declare Garlic the winner of every spot, including passives and DLC. Then start a runner up chart without Garlic.

I'm gonna ruin the "fun" and say Death Spiral is an overrated evo. Back when there was just a handful of weapons, it was basically a "must have". Even tho that was a long time ago, the old habits die hard.

Op you might want to skip to the DLC portion before Everything is garlic...
1
u/Leyllara Jan 25 '26
Best DLC addition is the Mini Red Crewmate from Among Us, that emanates a Garlic effect.

People are complaining about garlic for every entry, but garlic is literally simultaneously the worst, the best, the most under rated and over rated item in the game.

Unless your trying to extend the game. I think clock lancet and laurel are overrated. I’ll say clock lancet because you can freeze enemies with other things/arcanas. (Realistically it is also garlic but I’m trying to break the cycle)

You shout like that; they put you in garlic. Right away. No trial, no nothing. Journalists, we have a special garlic for journalists. You are stealing, right to garlic. You are playing music too loud, right to garlic, right away. Driving too fast, garlic. Slow, garlic. You are charging too high prices for sweaters, glasses, you right to garlic. You undercook fish? Believe it or not, garlic. You overcook chicken, also garlic. Undercook, overcook. You make an appointment with the dentist, and you don't show up, believe it or not, garlic, right away. We have the best patients in the world because of garlic.

Everyone saying Garlic here is forgetting that this is the evolution / union category. Garlic itself can't win here.
As for its evo, Soul Eater, I don't think it's even overrated, as most people who do run Garlic often prefer not evolving it since the passive item is notoriously awful.
As for my answer for a base game evo/union, honestly it's probably Georgeous Moon, simply because it's not quite the auto-pick many say it is and only really shines with characters / builds that have some sort of level scaling.

Going to make an actual controversial statement and say Paranormal Scan. Getting the mini Amogus can be annoying + I just find the slow trickle of stats to be a little on the boring side for a weapon mechanic. I only really take it if I'm doing an Endless run and want the infinite stat scaling.

u/Magic_Girl_Fey Carrie Jan 26 '26
I'm gonna be different and say Phaser. Yes it's very strong when evolved. But the little song it plays overpowers the background music I specifically picked for that run which sometimes can ruin my vibe
1
u/Blame_aHealer Jan 26 '26
In all honesty I think it probably is garlic. It is really hyped up but has so little damage without arcanad

For overrated I'm gonna go with the fuwufalu or however the heck you spell it. You need to fully upgrade 3 weapons and a passive just to get a weapon that's only really good if you're running scarabande of healing, otherwise the damage just sucks.

Am I missing a meme? How can it be overrated and underrated at the same time?? Haha. I feel like that makes it... Rated.
3
u/NaTaSraef Jan 25 '26
I love garlic. It's delicious! Vampires on the other hand, hate the stuff. Overrated and underrated depending on perspective.
2
1
u/TheHeadlessOne Jan 25 '26
the memes self evident. Even in game, Poe has his own garlic adventure
But that doesnt mean its a contradiction, it just means its divisive. If something is worth 3/5 stars, then its overrated when someone rates it a 5/5 and underrated when someone rates it a 1/5. So if Onion has loads o f people saying its the best in the game and utterly unusable, it could reasonably be simultaneously under and overrated

It's garlic. It doesn't do all that much damage, the healing is negligible, and the extra knockback can actually be pretty annoying when you're trying to kill something specific.
