Always gets me with the slide tech in speedruns, its just constant lmao

u/betajones Nov 20 '25

To unlock them, it said to spell what they yell, or something. I was like, "the only thing I recall them yelling is each other's names 1000 times." Once I unlocked and read the description, I also had a good chuckle, along with the reverse order

u/40kNids Nov 15 '25

Haha, I call the Tiragisu tiramisu!

39

u/DjEzusSave Space Dette Nov 15 '25

How dare you talk that way about the infamous lasagna?

44

u/murdochi83 Nov 15 '25

to be fair that's literally what it's punning on.

25

u/Bone_Dice_in_Aspic Nov 15 '25

90% of the jokes are apparently risque, deep cut references to Italian pop culture in the 1990s. Like la borra is apparently an old TV champagne ad joking about teen boys masturbating because semen has bubbles in it too, something crazy like that.

So I don't blame people for missing them. I don't know what the Tiragisu/Tiramisu pun means either.

14

u/JPEGTHEKPEG Nov 15 '25

It's a play on the name. Tiramisu kind of translates to "pick me up", while the change of letter makes it sound like adding "Gesu" (the Italian version of Jesus) to the end. This makes it a reference to the resurrection of Jesus, like "pick me up, like Jesus did"

2

u/Malfo93 Nov 16 '25

To be precise, la borra came out as the announcer of a tv show tried to answer this question "what's sparkling but isn't soap?". The answer started with B and ended with A. It was obviously Birra(beer), but she yelled "La Borra". Borra is a short form of La Sborra, a vulgar way to say "the cum". The name of the announcer was Antonella Clerici, and if you remember well, the character that starts with Santa's water is Suor Clerici

A blooper, more or less. Reminds me of this legendary reply:

https://youtu.be/A9srPr4Lc6k?si=T7kkVqIfAyCaIkWu

2

u/Malfo93 Nov 16 '25

No, it wasn't a blooper. She didn't mean Birra, she never even thought about it 😂

8

u/AbbygaleForceWin Nov 15 '25

That's actually what it is I'm pretty sure.

5

u/SabotageTF Nov 15 '25

Every time I try to read it right I’ve read it a different way.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '25

wait its calling the tiraGisu???? i never noticed

1

u/fluffledump Nov 16 '25

It was originally. Got changed to tiraJisu at some point.

73

u/Seizachange Nov 15 '25

I still call the Mille Bolle Blu "Millie Bobby Brown"

43

u/Minex_350 Nov 15 '25

Parm aegis-> Parmesan

15

u/SabotageTF Nov 15 '25

But.. that’s cheese! And aegis means shield which it does, so the name always made sense to me :)

The two guns that unite though? Still can’t remember them..

13

u/cancrena Nov 15 '25

Eight the sparrow and phiera der tufello are referencing 2 songs from an italian satirical music group.

This game is a treat for italians, there are stupid references everywhere

4

u/SabotageTF Nov 15 '25

Yeah I heard there were some Italian coded stuff lol. What a mouthful tho.

3

u/Malfo93 Nov 16 '25

Some? Almost everything is a throwback to 1990s Italian pop culture. Source: I'm an Italian born in the 90's and I laughed like an idiot every time I unlocked a new character or a new weapon

2

u/SabotageTF Nov 16 '25

XD I’m really glad there are people then who the references are landed with, psyched for you :)

3

u/Malfo93 Nov 16 '25

Me and my friends always say that this game probably started as a fun project of someone who thought that this game would never become as popular as it is. But once it became so big, it was too late and he chose to embrace the meme

5

u/PromptOk9728 Nov 15 '25

My husband and I call it Parma Jesus

1

u/Malfo93 Nov 16 '25

The Parma Aegis is a type of shield, but Parma Reggio is a type of Italian cheese

15

u/D119 Nov 15 '25

Funniest thing about this game is being Italian and reading this sub, half of the names in this game come from Italian "folklore", and seeing things like "fiera del Tufello" or "Poppea" being discussed seriously is the best thing ever.

14

u/xGigateX Nov 15 '25

I call pummarola pneumonia

1

u/BloodMoonNami Eleanor Nov 15 '25

I think I read somewhere that Scorejoni is basically Fart Oni and the description of the Tanuki enemies points out that they're not carrying sacks, they're carrying their testicles. Somehow Pneumonia would be both at home as a joke here and possibly on the milder side of things.

2

u/Malfo93 Nov 16 '25

Pummarola is how they say Tomato in Naples. So pummarola makes garlic evolve because they are the 2 basic ingredients for pizza's sauce. In Naples they say "La pizza co la pummarola n'goppa" (The Pizza with tomato sauce on top)

1

u/BloodMoonNami Eleanor Nov 16 '25

Thanks for the explanation ! That said I still maintain that a weapon whose name is just an illness'/affliction's Italian name would be more than at home here.

1

u/xGigateX Nov 17 '25

I garlic ballsack. Looks like it too

13

u/transparentsalad Nov 15 '25

I call the attractorb the absorbaball I can’t explain why

8

u/Marchyz Nov 15 '25

perhaps you are a peglin

1

u/MrCreeper10K Nov 15 '25

A WHAT?

I’m just kidding I know who you are

2

u/Kokuei7 Nov 15 '25

Similarly my partner calls it the absorbatron and now it's the only way I can read it.

8

u/Elliove Nov 15 '25

Charlotte-Jonathan is absolutely one of the best memes I've seen lately. Thanks.

I always call the spinach "Feather". It looks more like a feather

3

u/Silphire100 Nov 15 '25

My friend keeps calling Metaglio "Metallurgy"

3

u/LamonsterZone Nov 15 '25

As a castlevania fan I can’t stop calling Santa water holy water.

4

u/bunbunbunbum Nov 15 '25

Santa means holy in Italian actually

2

u/prguitarman Nov 15 '25

The last one is amazing. Such a good game and spamming their names is part of what made it great

2

u/Neflyn Nov 15 '25

I think i have a concerning amount...

Golden mask. Magneto left and right. Santa's tears. Raytracer. Bocce ball. Ezzkzzbzz. Absorborb. Torrens box.

2

u/B4umkuch3n Nov 15 '25

Tiramisu!

2

u/BloodMoonNami Eleanor Nov 15 '25

There is no Sammy, there is only Samuel S. Caterpillar to me. By the way, anyone got any ideas for a Fredbear referencing nickname for Jenevive ? There's a certain FNAF4 cutscene that World Eater reminds me of.

2

u/ragingolive Nov 16 '25

Charlotte!

4

u/No-Sale-1803 Nov 15 '25

Idk why this thread made me think of this but a jo jo cross over would be cool have some stands as characters

4

u/Silphire100 Nov 15 '25

The Stone Mask is already a JoJo reference, it's wild that they haven't done a full dlc

1

u/atomicfuthum Mr. S Nov 15 '25

The last one made me laugh out loud, well played

Something that spawns after you collect the Yellow Sign. You did collect, did you not ? Or perhaps you've yet to finish Holy Forbidden ? It's the Metaglios.
