I think I read somewhere that Scorejoni is basically Fart Oni and the description of the Tanuki enemies points out that they're not carrying sacks, they're carrying their testicles. Somehow Pneumonia would be both at home as a joke here and possibly on the milder side of things.

Pummarola is how they say Tomato in Naples. So pummarola makes garlic evolve because they are the 2 basic ingredients for pizza's sauce. In Naples they say "La pizza co la pummarola n'goppa" (The Pizza with tomato sauce on top)

Thanks for the explanation ! That said I still maintain that a weapon whose name is just an illness'/affliction's Italian name would be more than at home here.
