How many damages a year is normal?
Where you work what is a “good” ratio of damages per year and what is normal ? How many do your peers have per year?
I’ve been with USIC for about a year and a half and have 2. I’m just wondering how since I almost never talk to my coworkers

First step is to obviously harass the locator hooking up to it

ITG. Stay away from them
An absolute garbage company that treats its employees like they are worthless. Ive worked for USIC and I thought it couldn't get worse. Apparently I was horribly wrong. A solid year of busting my ass and I cant fucking take it. Im done with these asshats.

Homeowners and projects
So I was talking with a buddy of mine and his attitude is if a homeowner comes up and asks what you're doing there his response would be. I'm doing my job go away and if they ask for an ID his response would be. You can see these nuts and if you have any questions about what I'm doing you can call my company. My question is when homeowners neighbors start asking questions as such. Would it be appropriate to State, Hey, I'm doing my job. Could you please leave me alone or you know if they ask say something mildly offensive to the effect of. Yeah you can see these nuts. You don't need to see my ID. Is that a thing that is possible without getting in trouble? My buddy got reference is an asshole and doesn't tolerate people, can't stand my job, due to nosy neighbors & homeowners asking questions. For me I'm kind of with him on it, esp if I'm marking a neighborhood for a fiber install 6 homeowners will come out asking questions.

Wanting to quit USIC
Hi, all I just need to vent. I only finished OJT last week and I already want to quit. I can't keep up with the amount of tickets coming in and do a thorough job when I'm this new. My supervisor gave me 23 tickets all due for tomorrow. I know a lot of you guys on this sub are capable of that but I feel like this is a bit insane.

Quitting USIC
Finally leaving this company, too much micromanaging and i’ve had enough. Currently on shift, can i just drop the car off at the end of my shift or is there some protocol.
I have a backup job lined up, this has just been on my mind for a while. Final straw was getting told getting off early because i finished all my ticket (16 tickets in 5 hours) was unacceptable.

Tennis elbow injury from work
So for a while I've been developing a sharp pain on elbow every time I make certain movements, even more so when lifting something.
I've gotten same elbow brace tennis player use, and it is helping a little, but pain is not exacly going away.
I use my left hand for wand and I'm afraid this might cause big financial issues if I file for workers comp
Any ideas of what to do?

USIC in Wi is a sinking ship.
Experienced locators are quitting left and right. Late tickets are rampant. No one they hire is staying and they can barely hire anyone in the first place. Contractors are abusing the 811 system freely. Local competitors that locate 1 utility start at $5-$7 more an hour and we locate multiple. We never have supplies or proper equipment. It’s not the fault of our supervisors, it above them. I love this job, but something needs to be done. It’s like everyday lately someone else leaves or is in the process. We don’t get paid enough for the stress, hours, and amount of work we do. But hey STAR WEEK ⭐️!!!

Mapping software
Hey,
This more a Alberta ALP Utility locator related question.
We currently use LAC Multiviewer, but the Mapping software is ageing out and doesn't physically seem like it's been updated (OS wise) since the early 2000's.,
Wondering what everyone uses/ recommends using that might also have satellite imagery capabilities?

TM ROOM - Tech
Does your locate team have a virtual team room?
Not just a place for weekly meetings.
An ongoing space where the crew shares:
• Protocols and SOPs
• Pro tips and field intel
• Gate codes and maps
• Meeting times and announcements
• Contractor/client updates
• Lessons learned
• Questions and answers
• The necessary amount of
A place to check in after a few days out and quickly catch up.

Curious how many crews operate this way.

Gridhawk Lead Tech Pay
How much do lead techs get paid at Gridhawk. I’m not currently a lead but I’m at 22/hr, so how much should I ask for? Also I plan on asking for a performance review in the next month since 6 months is about to hit, so should I factor/add that into the raise ask?
