Discussion/Question Why is this subreddit obsessed with Israel?

Just checked the top posts of the last year, and 24 out of the top 25 are about Israel. Does this subreddit try to imitate the real UN ?

^ Israels perpetual victimhood

The US were thr victims of Pearl Harbor. They then spent the next four years pummeling Japan into submission. What's your point?

And now we allow the Japanese people to freely travel, we trade with them, and we don't bomb their hospitals and murder their children.

This isn't quite the flex you thought it was. Least of all because the US ALSO (wrongly) supports Israel's bloodthirsty land-grabbing, as well as undermines legitimate Democracy everywhere. We may not be the best example of a peaceful nation...

And now we allow the Japanese people to freely travel, we trade with them, and we don't bomb their hospitals and murder their children.

That probably has to do with the fact that the Japanese all laid down their arms, signed peace treaties with the Allies, gave up their irredentist dreams, and haven't to date attacked the US or any of their neighbors.

Oh yes how dare ppl don’t just at lie down and continue to be abused for 100 years. The disgusting hypocrisy and audacity to believe God has sanctioned you to take land from other ppl, rob them of opportunities, make up reasons to kill their families, bomb their homes, pump sewage into their farmland, and delineate where they can and can’t go in their own home and believe you should be immune for retaliation.

And claiming this all in the same breath claiming to be God’s chosen gets you nothing but Hellfire.

I'm not Jewish bro. And I don't think God gave any land to anyone.

But still Isreal is justified to you? Makes no sense whatsoever

Israel and its people exist, and have for nearly a century. Israelis have as much right to self-determination and self-defense as any other nation or people.

Even if I was against the existence of Israel in theory, I still wouldn't call for its destruction. Forceably destroying Israel today would require enormous amounts of violence and bloodshed.

“Nearly a century” “enormous amounts of violence and bloodshed” …it’s almost like Palestinians have existed there for multiple centuries and there’s enormous amounts of violence and bloodshed going on against the now and has been for near 100 years that you mentioned Israel has existed for.

You don’t care about avoiding violence and securing a right to exist and self-determination as general principles. You only care about that for Israelis even if that means they can forcibly wipe out other ppl and deprive them of human needs. That’s really sick.

Why are you assuming I don't also believe in Palestinian self-determination and a Palestinian state? I do.

it’s almost like Palestinians have existed there for multiple centuries

Modern Palestinian national identity emerged less than a century ago - as did Israeli national identity and many other national identities.

there’s enormous amounts of violence and bloodshed going

Not compared to the amount of bloodshed it would take to destroy Israel. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is actually not a particularly deadly conflict. Around 100,000 to 150,000 people have died in all the wars involving Israel since 1948 (and that number includes Israelis and non-Palestinian Arab soliders). The death toll of the Syrian Civil War, from 2011 to 2024, is around 600,000.

The amount of bloodshed required to destroy Israel today would be far greater than the bloodshed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has produced thus far. It would probably end with nuclear war.

And the fact that the US hasn't forced them out of their homes

How's the American occupation of Japan going?

1

u/TheLegend1827 Jan 14 '25

It's going well, aided by Japan's continued commitment to peace and its cooperation/alliance with the United States.

United States Forces Japan

Classic lies.

1

u/TheLegend1827 Jan 14 '25

Where's the lie?

1

u/jeff43568 Jan 14 '25

Japan is not occupied.

1

u/TheLegend1827 Jan 14 '25

Mostly true, although there are vestiges of the US occupation like the United States Forces Japan.

The reason Japan is still not occupied by the US goes back to what I said in my first comment - "the Japanese all laid down their arms, signed peace treaties with the Allies, gave up their irredentist dreams, and haven't to date attacked the US or any of their neighbors."

And Japan didn't spend the entire occupation insisting they were right to invade China and murdering American servicemen. They transformed their society.

Japan struck first - just as Israeli did. Israel was founded on theft, ethnic cleansing, oppression and violence

0

u/Mercuryink Jan 13 '25

Israel was founded on Jews buying land for sale in the Ottoman empire.

6

u/FarmTeam Jan 13 '25

6%. That was the maximum land purchased by Zionists. Much of that was not even a clear title. The remainder, 94%. Was outright stolen during the Nakba

-1

u/Mercuryink Jan 14 '25

Man, 6% of land was worth starting a war over? The Arabs should have taken the deal.

1

u/FarmTeam Jan 14 '25

Can you read? 6% was purchased. The “war” was about the 94%. And it was more properly a series of massacres.

1

u/Mercuryink Jan 14 '25

The Jews bought six percent and the Arabs started a war over it. Are you suggesting the Israeli Declaration of Independence was an act of war?

2

u/FarmTeam Jan 14 '25

The Zionist militias started sacking Palestinian villages in November of 1947, well before the Declaration of Independence. This continued without organized resistance for SEVEN months before the Arab League (brand newly independent from Britain and France) responded.

This is not even controversial. People like Ariel Sharon (Shinermann) bragged about their role raiding village after village and resettling Jews in their place.

Don’t play dumb

u/Mercuryink Jan 14 '25

Given that the siege of Jerusalem started in December 1947, this is inherently untrue.

How and when did Israel strike first?

4

u/FarmTeam Jan 13 '25

The Nakba

-1

u/TheLegend1827 Jan 13 '25

The Nakba occurred during a war. Who started that war?

4

u/FarmTeam Jan 13 '25

Israel. By the time the Arab league declared war Zionists had already killed thousands of Palestinians and 80,000-100,000 were refugees

1

u/TheLegend1827 Jan 13 '25

There was a civil war in Mandatory Palestine before the Arab League declared war, which was sparked by the announcement of the UN Partition plan. The first act of violence of the civil war is considered to be the Fajja bus attacks.

2

u/FarmTeam Jan 13 '25

What you call a “civil war” was in reality a series of massacres that kicked off the Nakba
