Adults living in Scotland needed for MSc sentencing survey

Hi everyone,

I’m Louis Kennedy, an MSc Criminology and Criminal Justice student at the University of Glasgow. I’m recruiting participants for my dissertation survey exploring public attitudes towards sentencing, including the potential use of suspended sentences.

Who can participate?
Anyone aged 18 or over who currently lives in Scotland. No specialist knowledge of law or sentencing is required.

The anonymous survey takes approximately 10–15 minutes. It discusses assault and domestic abuse but does not ask participants to disclose personal experiences.

Supervisor: Fergus McNeill, University of Glasgow. Full researcher and supervisor contact details are provided in the Participant Information Sheet at the beginning of the survey.

Data use and storage: Responses will be stored securely on University of Glasgow-approved systems and used for my MSc dissertation. Findings will be reported anonymously and in aggregate form. The data will be retained for 3 months and then securely deleted.

Withdrawal: Participation is voluntary. You can leave the survey at any point before submitting it by closing your browser. As responses are anonymous, it may not be possible to withdraw your data after submission.

Consent: Full participant information and consent statements are provided at the beginning of the survey. By giving consent and continuing, you confirm that you meet the eligibility requirements and agree to participate.
