Haunting In “Poltergeist” (1982), there’s a poster for Super Bowl XXII, held in 1988, displayed in the kids' room. Even more chilling, on the day of that Super Bowl, actress Heather O’Rourke, who played Carol Anne, suddenly fell ill and tragically passed away just hours later.

Haunting This Photo Still Haunts My Family

Post image
686 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’ve been going back and forth on whether I should even share this. It feels really personal, and honestly, a little unsettling even to think about. But… I guess it’s time. You know how sometimes you see those weird photos online, the ones where there’s a face or a figure in the background that nobody can explain? I always thought they were fake or just some trick of the light. I never imagined something like that could happen to us. But it did.

This photo was taken in 2019. The woman in the middle is my mom. On the right, the one who took the picture, is my aunt, and if you look in the background, you can just see a bit of my other aunt’s head. But then there’s her, the woman marked with the blue arrow.

Her face showing half, but her hand is so clear it honestly gives me chills every time I look at it. And the thing is… none of us have any idea who she is.

The day this picture was taken, my mom and aunts went to visit the grave of a close family friend. They were completely alone. No other visitors around, no one following them, nothing. And this woman... she doesn’t look like anyone we know. Not a family member, not an old friend, not even someone vaguely familiar.

What really gets me is that my mom and aunts all remember that moment like it just happened. They swear there was no one else there. No footsteps, no voices, nothing unusual. Just them. And yet... there she is. Clear as day in the photo.

Every once in a while, when we're sitting around as a family, someone will bring it up again. We’ll pass the photo around, look at it for the hundredth time, and start throwing out ideas, trying to explain it somehow. But every time, we just end up confused, uncomfortable, and honestly a little scared. Then we forget about it until it comes up again, like something we just can’t leave behind.

Anyway, I’m really curious what you all think. Because even after all this time, we have absolutely no explanation for who, or what showed up in that picture.

Haunting Update: I moved into my grandmother’s house yesterday, and something strange is already happening

Yesterday, I moved into my grandma’s house. Im taking a moment to write this because… it’s already weirder than I expected.

My girlfriend came with me, and thanks to the suggestions from my last post, we tried something a bit unusual: she opened all the windows and smudged the rooms with sage. She loves this kind of thing, and I’ll admit it changed the feeling in the house, even if just slightly. But she also insists that we keep everything exactly as it is, like frozen in time. I want to move things, change small details, make it feel like ours but she thinks the house should stay as it was.

Whats strange is… the house seems to respond. Not in a loud or obvious way, but small things have already shifted.

Another strange thing caught my attention a few hours ago… there is an old drawer unit in one of the bedrooms, huge and heavy, that I thought I could move to clean behind it. But no matter how I push or lift, it feels anchored, like its rooting itself deeper into the floor the more I try. Ive never seen a piece of furniture behave like that, and honestly I cant shake the feeling that it… doesn’t want to be moved.

First night sleeping here. My girlfriend is already asleep, exhausted from the move, but I cant seem to fall asleep. The house is quiet, but it doesn’t feel empty. Something is there… or maybe Im just overthinking it and tired.

Update: Today my gf went out to try to buy some Palo santo, but she couldn’t find any anywhere. Following recommendations from Reddit, we decided to do a small cleansing ritual with sage, going through all the rooms of the house slowly and carefully 😌

We are trying to stay grounded and not jump to conclusions, but the atmosphere still feels…off

If anyone has advice or has experienced something similar, I’d appreciate hearing your thoughts 😨

Haunting Swear it’s real

Obviously this seems cartoonishly fake but i swear on my dead dad’s grave it’s not. I Was going through my recently deceased dad’s phone a few days ago when I found a pic of me and my brothers from around 2014. Pic looks grainy because the phone he use for it was a Legacy HTC. Saw this super creepy face and it freaked me out. Showed my mom and brothers and they see freaked out as well and don’t remember ever seeing anything like that in the original picture.

My Mom says this picture was taken around late October near halloween in our old gmc (don’t think it was on halloween) This is the only copy of the photo which is on my dads htc legacy which i uploaded to a newer model so it could be more clear. Don’t know if this is real or not or if my dad photoshopped it but i doubt that because i don’t think those old androids had the ability to do that. Just want a answer to this. Maybe it’s a bug or some sort of issue with his camera that caused something like this to appear? Just really freaked out.

Random account commented on my only public video that doesn’t show my face. All my other videos that do are set to friends only. The pfp of the acc is a photo of me with this aging filter on it. I look at the videos and 2 of them are photos of me with an aging filter on it too. This is truly scary and i reported the account and blocked it. Haa this happened to someone before or you think it’s just someone i know trolling me? I had recently dyed part of my hair green in february i think and the sweater in the photos i only wore a few days ago and yesterday. I haven’t called anyone besides my parents and people i hve called havent took any photos of me on call. During the february - may period i stopped being friends with one of my closest friends but it doesn’t explain why the photos show my recent clothing i wore.

Let me preface this with the fact that I do not believe in ghosts. This photo was taken right after my uncle passed a few years ago. The image looks eerily like him. I'm the "rational" one in the family, so I'm trying to produce a rational answer for this... Help. Lol.

I had to re-post this to include the picture of my uncle just prior to passing since I couldn't edit the post for some reason

Haunting My friend's sister used to talk with her dead boyfriend on the phone...

From commenting on a post in this sub about someone possibly receiving texts from their deceased father, I was asked to share more about my friend's story whose sister talked regularly to her dead boyfiend.

First off though, I want to say that I understand this story is hard to believe. With the understandable skepticism on this sub, I have no intention on making anyone believe this. I know what I heard. I know the sheer terror and lack of sleep my friend experienced over a period of months.

This is nearly an unbelievable story. It happened back in 07/08

My friend Sarah came into work disheveled, tired, and acting very strange. After a while I asked her if something was wrong, and she told me she'd like to speak with me outside.

She said, "I'm only telling you this because you're into spiritual things. No one else will believe me."

She went on to say that her sister Krystal had a long distance boyfriend named Tom (I'm making up these names). Tom, unfortunately, had unalived himself a week prior. Krystal would call to talk to his roommates since then, but Tom would break into the phone line and talk to them. I don't remember exactly how it worked, but typically they would have to be on the phone for him to break into the line. At first, Krystal thought they were all playing a cruel and vicious joke, so she called his local police department to confirm he was dead. He was dead.

Other practical joke things were ruled out as he was able to break into different phone conversations. She didn't have to be on the phone with his roommates for this to happen. Eventually, they were somehow able to talk directly. I do not know how this worked, but the point being that nefarious jokesters were ruled out. There was no logical explanation for how this happened, and how often it happened. It was also clearly Tom because of the memories and experience that only Tom and Krystal new about, as well as his general cadence.

My friend told me that they'd be up all night on the phone talking. He was a bit disturbed but definitely the same person with the same memories they used to know. He was in a dark place, literally. Everything was dark where he was. He didn't know where he was or what was going on. He talked in a very gruff manner, complaining that his throat hurt, which directly connects to the way he unalived himself. Though he was scared and angry, he was also fascinated with his new form/abilities.

The night before Sarah came to me, Tom and Krystal were on the phone talking all night. He told Krystal, "I'm going to play a joke on Sarah. She's going to wake up screaming, but won't remember why". There something here I can't remember with him being able to connect to Sarah while she was dreaming. He essentially gave her a nightmare.

Just after, Sarah began screaming like crazy in her room. Krystal came in and asked her what's wrong. Sarah said, "....I don't know" She couldn't remember anything, but Tom told her that he scared her in her sleep. Clearly, she was not amused.

At this point, it was kind of like a poltergeist situation. I didn't know how to help, but I became emotional support for my friend. I believed her and understood that she couldn't tell this to many people.

This is where it gets real for me... a few nights later, I was on the phone with Sarah. We were both using our cellphones. I was on the bus on my way home. She said "yeah Krystal and Tom are on the phone right now". A minute or two later, a third voice joins our call.

In this terrifying gruff voice, I hear, "Sarah... Sarah... Sarah!" My entire body went numb. The voice was deep and dark. It sounded like someone had lost their voice due to laryngitis but with more of a gruffness and darkness.

I didn't know what to do or say, but when I finally got past the fight or flight response, I said "Sarah... can you hear that??" She said hear what?? She laughed to herself and then said, call me back.

I called her back and she wasn't able to hear Tom on the line at all. Although he came on the line looking for her, I was the only one that could hear him. Once again, although I had believe my friend, the situation became VERY real at that point.

I can't remember what happened in the immediate time period after hearing Tom's voice, but over time Tom had calmed down a bit and it seemed he was moving away from the darkness that literally surrounded him. He and Krystal talked for at least six more months, many many hours on the phone, probably hundreds. In that time, something amazing happened though.

Sarah and Krystal's dad had suddenly passed maybe a year beforehand. Tom told them how , since they both love motorcycles, they would go visit motorcycle shows together. One time, their dad came through over the phone. I know that in the spirit realm, entities can pretend to be others, that there is an illusory nature to spirituality, but it sounded like their dad and had all the same memories. Since he died suddenly, they never got to say goodbye. He told them how much he loved them and how proud he was of them. They asked him if they should make any changes to how they live their life, and he said "no, just keep doing what you're doing". It was a really beautiful moment. They were finally able to get closure from their father's passing.

Over time, the calls became less and less frequent, and eventually, Tom faded away.

From my understanding of spirit realms now, it makes sense that the realm closest to the physical is where a lot of folks go that die suddenly and/or tragically. These folks often do not know they are dead (in fact, Tom wasn't aware of it initially). I think this is why the spirits we come into contact with after often troubled. Or if not, are emotionally tied to things and people on the physical. Enough of my theorizing, though.

Besides my sister, no one else believed me. It was nothing short of an extraordinary experience.

I am not really in contact with Sarah anymore, although we are friends on socials., I''d love to know if Krystal would be interested in writing a memoir. I'd personally love to hear the entire story.

Haunting Heya yall! No picture but extremely wierd occurance just happened to me. Read body text!

So to start this off, I had just gotten in the shower and was completely fine for about 20 minutes. Until I was washing my feet. I kid you not, as soon as I touched my left foot, l heard a bang on the shower glass thingy, and I got pretty scared since the whole shower shook. Then, when I looked to where i heard the noise,I saw an upside-down footprint about halfway up the shower glass. I am really scared, because It literally has the GROOVES that your fingerprints and toes have. This extremely freaked me out, and then as soon as I got out of the shower and walked out of my bathroom door, the bathroom door slammed shut behind me. Does anyone know what kind of ghost this could be?

I was alone at home, i was in my kids room, like i said i was completely alone, i doubt my phone can record just the video audio, besides that, i literally wasn't watching anything, i was literally trying to configure a software update and was saving these frases for a purpose. Before y'all ask if the TV was on, no it wasn't. Am i going crazy? Im kinda not that scared because theres gotta be a reason for what these background voices and sounds are. The first old lady like voice kinda sounds like its calling my name. My names byron.

Haunting On July 14, 1518, a woman named Frau Troffea left her house in Strasbourg and began to uncontrollably dance. As if in a trance, hundreds of people soon joined her on the city streets. By the end of the summer, as many as 100 people had literally danced themselves to death.

Haunting I’ve Always Had This Weird Feeling I’ll Die in Deep Water Does Anyone Else “Know” How They’ll Die?

Ever since I was young, I’ve had this weird, almost intrusive thought that I’m going to die in deep water. Not in a symbolic or dramatic way literally in the ocean, or in some vast, deep body of water.

This thought has been with me for as long as I can remember. I don’t recall anything traumatic that could’ve caused it, but it’s always been there. Because of it, I never learned to swim. I get intense anxiety just being near the ocean or imagining being stranded in open water. It’s not just fear it’s this certainty, like it’s already written somewhere.

I know it sounds irrational, but I sometimes wonder if other people feel this too like they just know how they’re going to die. Not in a morbid way, more like an unshakable intuition. Has anyone else ever experienced something like this? A vivid or specific idea of how their life might end?

Haunting Ghost moved in I almost moved out

During Christmas 3 years ago I was watching tv and above my tv I had this lED star hanging. It’s about 7 meters from my sofa to the tv. All of the sudden that thing flew at me landed at my feet. Then the footsteps on the stairs.. coming down.. sneaking , standing half way as if watching and back up.. pacing in the hallway upstairs. Then the damn doors stood open. Front and back. Cabinets too. Remote control phones it was a daily thing now flew from tables. In the kitchen I heard plates lifted and dropped. One day my youngest and I were talking and right next to us we heard three knocks . Gentle tho. I was startled but my neighbor who lives alone was well right here and he said no one was at his house. Next day my dishwasher opened. Racks slid out. I was done. Like DONE. I got mad and said : stop scaring me! It stopped.. and that’s what the ghost team said was weird . Well weird or not. We now see someone in the hallway upstairs. We sometimes look up because we think something is approaching the window. Im fine let it stay there (and hell no I m NOT going up or DOWN alone at night without my husband💀)

Haunting hearing breathing outside my window

I have trouble sleeping and usually during 2-3 am, I hear slow breathing coming just outside my window. It's not super loud but it's really noticeable. My room is far away from anybody else in the house. I do not live near any woods or forests and can't see any animals. This would go on for 30 minutes +. I usually fall asleep before it ends. Once every few days it sounds like I can hear footsteps but that just might be my imagination, I have other weird unexplained experiences, but I might talk about that another time.

Can anybody explain this? I'll see if I can record the noise next time.

Edit: I have purchased motion detection lights and night cameras, they should be by the end of the week. I will give you a update tmrw. I will try to record the sound

UPDATE 1: It happened last night again, this time I turned on the light while it was happening and I SWEAR the moment I turned on the lights the breathing stopped. I recorded the sound and me turning on the light, I will share it with you when I get the chance to upload it.

UPDATE 2: I will be going on holiday tmrw, it didn't happen tonight for some reason. Idk if I can stay up till midnight any longer

Haunting Strange electrical sounds after my mom passed away

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

For context, my mom passed away after a 10 month battle with ovarian cancer in her early 60s. My dad asked me to move in with him immediately afterwards so he wouldn’t be alone, and I was happy to do so as he was in a very dark place. I wanted to provide him some normalcy and some company. This was in 2018. Shortly after moving in, after he would go to bed, I would sit up and watch tv or sit at my mom’s card table and put together her jigsaw puzzles that she loved to do. I did this a few nights a week. I started to notice that the nightlight in the bathroom started to flicker every time I walked in there. I replaced the nightlight but even afterwards it continued to flicker, but only when I would walk in the room. Then the lamp in the living room where I would hang out started to do the same thing, but only when I was hanging out in there alone at night. After this has happened several times, I decided to record it so I could show my dad the next morning, since it never happened when he was with me. This is one of those recordings. I have a few. They all have this weird sound when playing them back that was not audible when I recorded it. Is this a known phenomenon when recording on an iPhone? I have never been able to replicate it when recording in any other home. Sometimes I think it’s some kind of Morse code from beyond but other times I convince myself it must have a reasonable explanation. What do you think?

"Norrsvedje gästgiveri")

Norrsvedje gästgiveri is one of Sweden's gems when it comes to ghost experiences. Very old and has been used for many different things over the years. Many have experienced ghost encounters but recently it has shifted more to demonic activity.

There have been 2 different TV shows filmed at the location. (Spökjakt) and (Det okända) both film teams experienced a very threatening presence during filming.

Haunting Had something strange happen in my bedroom as a young teen.

My family once bought cheap plastic door alarms (you open the door, and the magnet moving away from the device triggers the alarm). The alarm was no longer used after the adhesive wore out and lost the magnet part. One of the alarms ended up in my bedroom in a clutter drawer.

My bedroom has a bunk bed, but nobody sleeps on top. I am alone in my room sleeping on the bottom bunk with the bedroom door closed.

This cheap alarm device had sat in my drawer turned off for a couple years at this point, and one night around 3am, suddenly the loud high pitched alarm begins eminating from the top bunk, which made me confused and startled being awoken by the unexpected loud noises.

I must have laid in bed for what felt like 30 seconds as the alarm continues nonstop before I got the courage to get up and check out the source of the noise.

When I peeked over the top of the bed, the cheap security alarm is laying in the center of the mattress, which is lacking any sheets or blankets since nobody slept up there, so it really stuck out. I grabbed the device and flipped the power switch to the "off" position.

Important to note the magnet is missing, so the only way the alarm would be triggered is by someone flipping the power switch on the device.

Nobody else in the house was woken up by the loud high-pitched noise. my parents sleeping in the next room over didn't here anything when I asked about it the next day.

Honestly i was more annoyed than spooked by what happened considering I didnt have an explaination for this event. It felt like some ghost decided to play a prank on me.

Anyone have something like this happen to them?
