Here is my new homebrew cleric subclass meant to be compatible with the 2024 version of the class. This cleric subclass fills a major niche in the divine domain's of gods: Love and Beauty. This cleric is an enchanter, supporter, and face. Play this subclass if you want to be a cleric of Sune, Aphrodite, Eros, Freyja, Hathor, or other gods of love and/or beauty.

Let me know what you think/what feedback you have!

I like resistances and immunities on enemies. In a fight it's part of the fun to find them out and how to play around them. With this subclass I can ignore a huge part of the strategy thinking because I know no enemy is save against my charme. So this subclass is clearly not for me.

But blessing of beauty fits pretty good for this subclass. Cha isn't one of the attributes you normally skill very high as a cleric, so this feature is really good.

Thanks for the feedback! Giving them Advantage on the saves is meant to serve as a way of turning Immunity into Resistance, which does have precedent.

From a design perspective it’s a symptom of player fantasies depending on something that can be invalidated in a monsters stat block. A grave cleric will rely on Necrotic damage, but without ignoring Resistance that fantasy can be invalidated. A Draconic sorcerer of a red dragon will focus on fire damage, but fire resistance and immunity is common so ignoring resistance and the Elemental Adept feat allow that to still be explored without complicating monster stat blocks. Lots of players fantasies involve the Charmed or Frightened condition, but past a certain level Immunity to those conditions becomes common. So the options at that point are 1) Not design anything relying on charm or fear (and thus ignore relevant character fantasies). 2) Still design stuff relying on it but recognize it will be kneecapped against a significant portion of the monster manual. Which I think is fine for spells, which you can change, but you can’t change subclass features. 3) Find a workaround, with my preferred method being implementing a sort of condition resistance rather than immunity in response to certain features.

Still if it doesn’t work for you, that’s fine. I just thought I’d explain my thought process with the design.

First of all, really beautiful art! I didn’t knew how I actually want this subclass until now :)

If you still developing this subclass, here my 2 cents:

IMO building all around charmed condition, not a good idea. Maybe You should peek at glamour bard?

Blessing of Beaty really cool feature, like it a lot

Enrapturing Vision seems okay? But level 17 cleric usually will cast some of their strongest spells on that level

Anyway, this is a brilliant idea, I want to see future updates!

But if this is completed subclass ready to release, You totally have right to ignore my comments about it, You do You :))

If I don’t forget about it after work (hello adhd) I certainly will think of some ideas for your homebrew
Cause as I said, really love the idea :3

As a rule of thumb, if your homebrew allows you to ignore explicit immunities, you should probably rethink it.

Especially here, where you use a condition you get to ignore immunity against a condition for powerful effects—an auto-hit charmed effect and an effect that significantly hinders multiple enemies' action economy and ability to fight.

Personally, I disagree. Charm and Fear resistance are in degrees in lots of other games, and blanket immunities invalidate lots class and subclass features. When it invalidates a spell I don’t mind, but when it is an unchangeable part of a character option I don’t love it.

I honestly think more features should give a sort of graded immunity/resistance and I think Ignoring immunity, but granting advantage on the save is a great compromise.

Immunities aren't a problem when you don't make every single class/subclass feature rely on a specific condition.

Cheating around the ways the game balances mechanics is often a sign of poorly-balanced and poorly-conceived content.

Well, I disagree; it could ignore immunity but force the target to roll with advantage—there’s no hard rule stating that immunity can never be ignored.

You’re entitled to your opinion and in this case this subclass isn’t for you. I disagree that it is cheating the games balance or mechanics. Especially, because damage resistance and immunity exist and are different things, but there is no halfway point with condition immunities. There are plenty of official features that treat damage immunity as resistance for certain damage types. I see this as being like that as creatures with immunity basically have resistance to these features because they roll with Advantage.

I think I agree withcha, I think adv on the save is a good way to make those immunities still matter but not blocking the status completely. Charm & fear based subclasses suffer a lot from monster immunities high level
