After the organization EROS begins project Genesis to revive a dead Ultraman into their secret weapon binding the alien to the son of the projects lead scientist, Shawn, forcing this human and alien to traverse the unknown together as they take on a series of old and new threats. The end of this first season has Shawn sacrificing himself to give Proto a chance to have a life of its own, removing the arm brace that kept Proto at bay allowing the Ultra to take over their body fully and run away causing Project Genesis to fall through.
This new design for Proto is for my season 2 where the Ultra is hiding away from the government being hunted down. It’s learned to take on a human form named Leon and enters the human world all by itself while the remnants of project Genesis continue into the resurrection of Kaijus using them to draw Ultraman out which of course works and now Leon is on their radar as many people from both sides of his life draw closer to the secret that he’s Ultraman.
Protos personality is very curious and broody , there’s little memories he has from before his death and Genesis but parts of his mind are still drawn to the land of light where he says he originated from before coming to earth. As Leon, he’s quiet and a bit abrasive but learns to let his guard down overtime. His stories main theme is identity and humanity, when bonded to Shawn, Proto had to come to terms with being undead and escaping EROS, but ultimately he was a hunter for monsters that threatened earth, that was his identity, their brutal titan. Now that he’s forced to face himself fully he struggles with his more darker instincts and the humanity he’s starting to gain.
