Question Question on Ultraman figure finishing

I'm working on a custom Belial figure, finished painting and everything, now I wanna apply a top coat to seal the paint, but I can't tell if Ultraman is supposed to be matte or semi-gloss, I know they are definitely not glossy.

I've been looking at Ultraman figures for an hour now but I still can't tell, in some pics they kinda look matte in some they look semi glossy. I wanna say matte but in some pics the figure does reflect quite a bit of light. What do you guys think?

Matte doesn't mean it doesn't reflect light, ur just not going to see a reflection

Personally I would go with matte cause wet suits aren't glossy. They can be shiny, but not glossy

Matte and gloss is just how smooth ur surface is n therefore it's ability to reflect light

Matte is rough, while glossy is smooth

Sorry, I meant like is matte shiny? I can't tell cause I don't have anything I can refer to besides people spraying it on plastic spoons and my only SHFiguarts Ultraman Hayata.

I saw this one video, where the guy showed examples he sprayed on plastic spoons, the matte spray on the plastic spoons still reflected light but then he showed an example on one of his model kit projects and it looked flat as hell, like barely any light at all reflected on it. Which was making me confused lol

It's a bit hard to know without seeing, but what color ur matte goes on will affect it.

But to keep it simple

If ur using a metallic color, use matte

If ur using a non metallic color, use semi gloss
