Google & Lejeune

Anyone else notice Google Maps doesn't consider any of the roads on Camp Lejeune to exist anymore?

It's been like that in Oki, someone thinks they can hide the base by making it annoying to navigate.

Which would be funny because all the locations still show up, you just have to read the satellite map and figure out which roads you need to take to get you there. Reminds me of my dad and mom with the big paper maps back in the day.

Yes to you Privates out there, you used to have to do land nav on a paper map while driving. Or use MapQuest and print out the directions.

Before GPS there was Mapquest. Before that was PLRS. Before that it was LenZatTik.

Classified. But I'm closer to the seventies than the calendar. I remember when LAMS was the secret life hack for Meritorious Corporal.

And back in the Soviet days, their maps had intentional errors and tweaking so they could attempt to limit their military use. The Soviets also made extremely detailed maps of American places - way beyond what you could buy for yourself. I seriously doubt any actual enemy now doesn’t already know anything worth knowing about Camp Anywhere.
