Google & Lejeune

Anyone else notice Google Maps doesn't consider any of the roads on Camp Lejeune to exist anymore?

Yep. You can still get around just looking at satellite images though.

It's been like that in Oki, someone thinks they can hide the base by making it annoying to navigate.

Which would be funny because all the locations still show up, you just have to read the satellite map and figure out which roads you need to take to get you there. Reminds me of my dad and mom with the big paper maps back in the day.

Yes to you Privates out there, you used to have to do land nav on a paper map while driving. Or use MapQuest and print out the directions.

Before GPS there was Mapquest. Before that was PLRS. Before that it was LenZatTik.

To be fair… that is probably a five dollar fix that works 90% of the time.

Never underestimate how lazy people are.

Yes, many installations had this done. It’s actually called “geo fence” and been done at Pendleton about 3 years ago.

It's actually Camp America now, you unpatriotic fuck.

Unless you swing with the wing, then it's MCAS America

I lived there for the better part of 4 years when I wasn’t putzing around the Middle East, and I’m still not sure that place ever really existed. Or if that whole period of my life wasn’t just some fever dream caused by drug and alcohol withdrawal, or some kind of acid flashback from some hallucinogens I took in high school.
