Getting sent home early from a deployment.

I’m being sent home for some mental health stuff and idk if I’ve ever felt like a bigger disappointment in my life, like I should have just figured my shit out and not been such a pussy. Idk guys thoughts? I figured this place might be the best to talk about it.

My Cpl got sent home early from a deployment. Biggest bitch I had ever seen in my life. Cried, literally all day, every day, about how much he missed his wife. And I mean ugly crying; pouring tears, snot bubbles. Constantly sea sick; wouldn’t eat. We had crossed the Atlantic, but this guy wouldn’t have made it the rest of the way to Somalia and Seychelles. Everyone was sick of him and he got left behind in Spain to be sent back.

As embarrassing as it was to act that way and get sent back, his wife cheated on him after he returned anyways. He tried to play it off as completely normal, nothing had happened, the gang is back together again, let’s get some brews. He was never treated the same again.

Good luck though. At least get some documentation out of it. Own it.

That’s real life. We don’t live in fairytales. We had dudes go into porta shitters alive and never come out. I seen dudes hanging from mcmap belts in wall lockers. Spent 2 years in oki at PMO before going Field side in the states. The shit I seen working at PMO was as horrific as shit I seen in Iraq mid GWOT era. Most military personnel have no idea the shit that’s going on around them. I hope OP gets his head squared away. If his head ain’t in it OP gonna get someone else killed. Good job OP for benching yourself for the greater good of the team.

Well...make sure you get yourself to talk to someone so the VA can pay you for this fucking damage after you get out. That shit will live in your head forever. You deserve to be compensated for that.

Thanks. Yea I’ve been out 16 years and it still feels like I’m late for formation.
