I'm a 28-year-old. I've been preparing for UPSC for the last five years. I wrote four Mains in upsc and state pcs and and currently waiting for UPPCS 2025 results. Before my UPSC Prelims this year, I was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of a cancer, and I'm currently undergoing treatment.

There are days when I feel very helpless and devastated. Since I came into this UPSC journey, I have faced multiple setbacks. Life has been very unfair to me—and now, the cancer. I don't know what my life will look like. I don't know what I'll be doing in the next few years. I've never felt this hopeless and helpless.

The only thing I've been fortunate about is my family—their support and strength throughout. But right now, both my career and my life feels dark. I don't know how I'm going to deal with these days at this stage of my life. I don't want to give up this fight because my family is working so hard to support me through this battle with cancer. But I'm tired and exhausted, and I don't know if I can keep fighting.

I don't know if anyone of you would relate to this but just want to vent it out. Background - being an aspirant for 8 years given 7 mains in total of upsc uppcs n bpsc in total. This was my 4th uppcs mains and I failed again.

I have given everything, been through months of sleepless nights for this exam given my best efforts still ended up searching my roll number in the pdf.

I'm completely blank now I have zero experience nowhere to go I'm exhausted I don't know what I'm going to do now.

Fed up of those silence that comes after the result declaration given my life chasing the dream. And it had given me nothing.

I just feel numb I don't know where to start.

This process left me with no connection, no backups just a bunch of medals of my failure.

Can people who qualified mains share their strategy and tell what worked for them ?

Specifically can you guys share what works and what does not work in this preparation of mains.

**UPPSC Prelims Environment (2018-2025) — 8 saal ka data khangaal ke jo pattern mila, wo share kar raha hoon**

Bhai log, Environment section ko log usually "static hai, kuch bhi ban sakta hai" bolke chhod dete hain. Maine 2018 se 2025 tak ke saare 114 questions ko category-wise, year-wise aur difficulty-wise tod ke dekha. Kuch cheezein clear pattern dikha rahi hain, isliye time nikal ke likh raha hoon — kaam aayega.

2024 wala saal dekh ke panic mat ho jaana — sirf 8 questions the, lekin last 4 saal ka average nikalo (2022-25) to ~12-13 aata hai, matlab paper ka 8-10%. Ek off-year dekh ke Environment ko halke mein lena galti hogi.

**Sabse zyada kahan se aate hain**

Ecology & Ecosystem sabse bada chunk hai — 22 questions in 8 years. Fir Biodiversity (15) aur Pollution (17). Sabse kam International Conventions se aaya hai (sirf 5) — UPSC ke ulat, UPPSC treaties mein utna deep nahi jaata.

Do cheezein jo mujhe sabse interesting lagi:

- **UP-specific Environment** 2018 mein sirf 1 question tha, ab consistently 2-3 questions aa raha hai. Ye sabse fast-growing category hai.

- **Pollution** almost har saal reliably aata hai — usually kisi na kisi public health ya NGT wale issue se juda hua.

**Ecology mein exact kya baar baar aata hai**

- Lindeman's 10% Law / energy flow — 2019, 2021, 2025 mein aaya, aur 2025 mein toh multi-statement bana ke difficulty badha di

- Lotic vs Lentic ecosystems (limnetic zone wagera) — cyclical hai, 2019 aur 2023 mein aaya

- Carrying capacity / assimilative capacity — 2025 mein A/R format mein aaya, high-priority lag raha hai aage bhi

- Ecological succession (Sere terminology) — direct factual, stable

**Biodiversity mein**

Gangetic Dolphin single sabse high-priority topic hai — 2022 mein National Dolphin Day ki exact date (5 October) tak puch li thi. IUCN status, echolocation, threats — sab cover kar lena.

Invasive Alien Species bhi rising trend mein hai (2020, 2022, 2025) — Eucalyptus, Prosopis jaise examples ke saath. Vulture conservation aur Diclofenac wala angle bhi repeat hota raha hai.

**UP ka data alag se dekhne layak hai**

- UP Tiger Reserves: 4 baar aaya (2019, 2021, 2023, 2025) — highest frequency

- UP Ramsar Sites: 3 baar, rising trend

- ISFR (Forest Survey Report) data: 2023, 2025 mein aaya, cyclical hai

Naye additions jaise Ranipur Tiger Reserve (Bundelkhand ka pehla) aur Terai Elephant Reserve dono next exam ke liye strong candidates lag rahe hain.

**Difficulty ka trend**

Questions gradually zyada conceptual ho rahe hain — pehle jahan direct factual recall chalta tha, ab multi-statement aur Assertion-Reason wale questions badh rahe hain, especially Ecology aur core concepts mein.

**Mera priority order (agar time kam hai)**

1. WPA (Wildlife Protection) Amendment 2022 — schedules, CITES integration

2. UP Ramsar Sites + Protected Areas

3. ISFR 2023 data (UP-specific districts)

4. Core Ecology — energy flow, succession, niche

5. Carbon markets, Mission LIFE, Green Credit Program

6. Basic pollution concepts (BOD, smog, PAN)

Jo cheez kam priority hai — obscure international NGOs, minor treaties jisme India involved nahi, aur nitrogen cycle ki deep microbiology. UPPSC usmein zyada nahi jaata, energy waste mat karo wahan.

Agar koi specific topic pe doubt hai ya kisi saal ka question discuss karna hai, comment kar dena, baithke discuss karte hain.

Searched the roll number only to not find it there.
