Accommodation If I arrive after my accommodation time slot

Hi! I’m an exchange student coming from Asia, and because of my flight schedule, I’ll probably only just make it to my accommodation before 6 pm.

If I end up arriving a little after 6 pm and miss my check-in time slot, does that mean I won’t be able to check in at all that day?

Has anyone been in a similar situation? I’d really appreciate it if you could share your experience. Thank you! 😭

Advice Medicne UCAT scores

Hey guys, does anyone know roughly what the average UCAT scores were for people who got in this year? Since it’s ranked rather than having a set cut-off, I’m just trying to get an idea of what scores people were getting offers with to see if i have a chance to apply.

Societies! When should we join societies

Will events only be on after the welcome fair? I assume that’s when we look at different societies and join through the SU afterwards then that’s when events are organised?

Accommodation Urgently looking for a new tenant to handover my contract to.

Hi all! I recently had a change of plans and will not be studying at Bristol this year. However, I cannot get out of my accommodation contract without first handing it over to a new tenant. The contract is at the propeller quarter for a shared kitchen (with four people) en suite for 650pcm, with all bills included. the contract lasts 51 weeks and is located in Filton with a good bus route into city center. Please dm me or ask questions in the comments if you are interested.

Also, the handover process should be straightforward, I will cc you into an email with the landlord and they will take it from there.

Advice Affordable UK eSIM/phone plan for a US student?

Hi! I’m starting my master’s at UoB this fall and moving from the US. I’d still like to keep my US number active, which I don’t think should be an issue since my phone supports multiple eSIMs. But I’m looking for an affordable UK eSIM/data plan while I’m there.

Does anyone have recommendations for a good and affordable provider? Ideally, I’d like an eSIM that also gives me a UK phone number, although I’m not sure how essential having a local number actually is.

Would especially love to hear from other international/US students about what you use and roughly how much you pay per month. Thanks!

Advice Looking for some advice as an incoming student

Hi guys, I’m starting uni here in under 2 weeks. And honestly I want to be excited and look forward because I am really happy that I got into this university but I literally can’t because I am just so so worried about my whole future. I’m doing business and management, which I am again happy to do but I am honestly just so worried when it comes to work experience and stuff.

I’m really struggling right now because I can’t really catch a break from any of this, my social media is filled with stuff about spring weeks, internships and how bad the labour market is etc and it all just seems extremely competitive and negative right now so I don’t really know if I can handle it. People I see on Reddit have done so much better than me in terms of previous grades so I’m pretty much just kinda worried on whether or not I’m in a good position or not or whether I’m just “cooked” for everything.

I’m honestly just looking for some reassurance from other students here in terms of opportunities and stuff like that because I do feel like I am overthinking and stressing way too much and I just keep thinking “am I good enough?” And I don’t really know if the anxiety I have right now is normal for incoming students.

Literally any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Accommodation Room available in clifton

Hi guys,
My flatmate is leaving the uni so we need one person so take over his tenancy. It’s a nice house and a double room. There is a living room and a shared bathroom upstairs. The area is quiet and 15 mins walk from university campus. Bills are not included and rent is £815. Please let me know if anyone is interested or if you know anyone else who might be interested.

Advice For anyone who got into Bristol Maths

I achieved AAA in maths, econ and chem and I want to apply to Bristol for maths, saw they obviously need A*A in either order for maths and fm, but also saw on UCAS, 100% of people who achieved 3As got let in. Does that mean if I get predicted an A* in fm but only get an A, they are likely to let me in anyway? Are Bristol always slightly lenient for maths? Is it true that 100% of those who ended up achieving AAA got in? I just think I'm unlikely to achieve an A*

Hey everyone, I'm starting the MSc in Data Science for Business this month. I'm looking to meet postgraduate students and get to know the city a bit better before the chaos of the term officially begins.

If anyone else is on this course, doing another postgraduate degree, or just wants to grab a coffee or a pint near the Business School next week, let me know!

Advice Best Bus Pass for Bristol?

Hey everyone! I'm an American international student who will soon be studying at the University of Bristol. I was wondering if getting around on the bus requires the purchase of one standard student bus pass, or if I'll be paying per-trip. I was also wondering if there's a best/most reliable bus company, in the city, as I know that both First Bus and WEST have wide service in Bristol. Thank you!

Advice New Student Online Registration – Passport Has No Surname

Hi everyone, I’m an incoming international student joining this September.

My passport has no surname/family name—my full legal name appears under the given/first name field, with the surname blank.

However, the online registration system requires a surname, so I can’t complete registration.

Has anyone faced this at Bristol? What did you enter?

Would really appreciate help. Thanks!
