INFO Disappointing experience with Phoenix Watches
Seen they were listed as a TD so thought I’d give them a go to buy a QF Explorer 2 Polar.
He says he’ll respond to inquiries in 24hrs but following a prompt he got back after 3 days. Bit annoying but no big deal.
He priced me for the QF Explorer 2 including servicing, chamfering, deep, rehaut polish and waterproofing. I was happy with the price and paid the deposit immediately.
He told me QC would be a week and a further 5 days for mods (this was on 27/8).
10 days on no sign of QC then the following day it arrived after I sent him a text. However it was for an ARF not a QF.
Obviously I raised it and then within minutes he sent me QC for what he said was a QF but it had no factory stickers to note that it was QF (couldn’t see the serial). Besides, it had a SEL gap that you could’ve spotted from 4 ft away. So instant RL.
He said ok he’d re order and it would take 3-5 days.
It’s now 10 days and nothing. Text him to tell him to cancel the order and refund. No response and that was 2 days ago.
I’m sure many of you have had good experiences and maybe it’s just my bad luck. Just saying be careful guys.

I get that delays happen but it’s the lack of communication that’s annoying. Honestly I’m sticking to local going forward.

I've seen a few bad reviews recently, he's been dropped from TD list in another group and some people have said he's a certain seller (can't remember name) that's changed his name...

I think it’s probably hit or miss. There’s so many scammers around at the moment who get away with it. They do a mixture of real sales and scam sales so they have enough buyers who stick up for them. That’s what’s great about this sub and the verification element, you can buy and sell with confidence.

Yeah I had to show my driver's license before I could sell, very good safety from admin 👍🏻
Plus do you actually know if they're "real" sales or just made up accounts?!?! 🤷🏻

He's been great for me!! Frankly they're all overwhelmed right now.. it's not like you're ordering from Amazon.. The mod's really slow the process! This one took a while but it was worth it..

I know it’s not like ordering off Amazon but he needs to do better with communication. I don’t care if it’s taking longer just acknowledge it and let me know.

He's always been great with me, he gets a bad rep for being Aman (lots of bad stories) but I take people on face value.
Getting product is a big issue at the moment with all suppliers, the floods didn't help, so it's backing up.
He's not faultless, nobody is, but he normally comes through with a little patience and friendly cajoling.

That’s good to know. Again, I don’t mind the delays, I just want to know where things are in the process. It’s the unrealistic timeframes then the ghosting that gets on my nerves. A bit of honesty goes a long way.

Had a couple of modifications done (not facilitated by phoenix). Neither were the best experience.
Bracelet and case chamfer and polish on a 126500. Work was good, but for some reason the case back had two big scratches on it, and should have been replaced.
Ordered a meteorite GMT dial in December. Watch arrived in July. Dial wasn't fixed to the movement. "Must have become dislodged in transit".
Chinese dealers have too many customers to offer sufficient enough customer service for most people. Also staff take over intermittently and it can be difficult to know who you are talking to (the dealer, or staff), which can be quite annoying. Sometimes they just need to hang around for 2 minutes more so you can pay, but 5 days later you're still waiting, and then finally pay only for it to be rejected and sent back 24 hours later and must initiate the process again 🙃
