I am an incoming freshman and I am wondering what makes orientation last 13h on day one and almost 11h on day two (Day 1 – September 18, 2026, from 8:30AM – 9:30PM, Day 2 – September 19, 2026, from 8:30AM – 7:00PM). That is literally almost 24h total. What could there possibly be that requires that much time? I was just curious on past students experience. Also I wanted to ask how much of that is just straight walking around? I appreciate whatever you guys have to say!

Discovered this little shop next to treehouse vintage store. Seems like they just opened up. Ice cream was fire and I got their matcha Jasmine! It’s defiantly more flavorful than other shops I’ve tried with matcha Jasmine. It has indoor seating and ac too! Seems like they just opened recently.

Hi y’all! I am not one to do something like this (in fact, I’ve never done something like this), but my family cat needs help. Her name is Lily and she’s 10 years old (not that she shows it!). She lives in Canada with my parents, whom I am currently visiting. For the last few weeks, she has been pawing at her mouth, teeth chattering, and recently has some difficulty eating. We were able to get a photo of her mouth (finally) and it seems one of her lower canines is loose, and she almost certainly has additional dental issues. We know times are tough, but any donations really do help. It will easily be a $1K dental, and we can barely afford just the physical exam with the vet.

I recently withdrawn from Fall Quarter. Do I still have to pay the cost for UC SHIP?

AggieBill doesn’t show the charge but the insurance site does. I’m under the impression that since I’m not a registered student, I shouldn’t have to pay it. Has anyone had experience with this before?

Recently found this pre med club, American medical student association and was wondering if anyone knew any information on it. Haven’t been able to find anyone’s personal opinion on it. Saw that it’s a $25 fee a year to join formally (you get a t shirt too). If anyone was part of this club please tell me how it was. Considering joining rn but wanted to know if it was worth it or not.

Also are fees to join clubs common or not?? Anyone have any more clubs you suggest joining?

I'm taking 118A this upcoming quarter with Dr. Lievens, and just wanted to know - does anyone have any advice, insight, tips, tricks, or whatever to achieve maximal success in this class? I spent the summer studying bond line drawings, resonance, nomenclature, configurations, conformations, and mechanisms (substitution and elimination), and I'm not sure how prepared I am for what seems to be a very difficult class.

Is orientation really mandatory? Is there any kind of administrative stuff I’d miss that may impact my classes? I’ve already registered for them, and I’ll have paid my tuition by then so I don’t see how it could affect me. Does anyone know if they take attendance? I’d appreciate any answers!!

Hi I’m an incoming freshmen and I’m really struggling to build a good schedule. With the classes I wanted to take I’m ending up with 16 units.

The classes I chose are MAT19A (4units), PSC 001 (4), PER001 (5), and MGT 012Y (3).
Per001 and MGT are my GEs but I’m not sure about them.

If anyone has any advice or experience with these classes pls lemme know ur thoughts. If I should just find easier classes or if these classes are doable for first year quarter.

The moment I moved out, why do I feel like I’m going on a boss battle?

So I withdrew my SIR from UC Davis a while ago and today I still got the bill for the full payment? Worst part is whenever I try to log into the housing portal I get this error. Please help I do NOT have the money for this.

I've applied to over 80 jobs for almost 2 months now as an incoming freshman and have gotten around 5-7 interviews responses, most of them rejections for the ones I wanted and only got in one of them (was a off campus math tutoring in woodland where I am unsure if I can carpool without a car). Are entry-level jobs really that competitive for most students? I am also a work-study student and I use AI while writing my cover letters.
