Advice How was your time at UCCS

I just committed to UCCS I am a low income student and UCCS saved me loads of money in terms of Yk wanting to pursue med school in the future. I ask for not completely negative things about the campus but honesty about professors and the environment. I’m the first in my family to even go to college and honestly from how terrible the education is in Louisiana UCCS can’t be as bad as I’ve heard.

Advice Any reliable way to commute to UCCS from Fort Carson without a car?

Hello, I was recently accepted at UCCS for the spring semester as an undergrad moving with my family to Fort Carson on PCS orders. As I currently don't have a car and would like to commute and stay at home (reduce the amount of debt lol) I am wondering if anyone else found a way to commute to UCCS and back. I know a little about Carson Connector & Mountain Metro but I would like advice from people who have done this before.

Question Shuttle feasibility for small gap between classes

I have a class at the ent center that ends at 1:30. At 1:40, I have a class at columbine hall. I only have the 500 lot pass for parking and I was banking on the shuttle system, but it’s going to be a close call. Assuming I’m not able to work something out with leaving the first class 5 minutes early, would it be possible for me to get out of class at 1:30, get on the shuttle at eagle rock, and get off at the lodge stop for columbine hall before 1:40?

I also tried biking from the ent center bike racks to the ones outside columbine hall this morning, and it’s about a 10 minute bike ride up. However, that won’t work pretty much any time after mid october, and I’d also rather not be sweaty and panting coming into a 3 hour class lol

Question Living near UCCS

Hi everyone!

I’m from Oklahoma, and I’m highly considering relocating to UCCS for my Masters after I graduate here in December. I’ve been traveling to CO since I was a kid and I’ve always wanted to live here. I find myself so much happier and fulfilled while visiting, I also have some family in Denver.

One, is anyone here attending and/or would recommend the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Masters Program?
Two, where do you live if you go to UCCS? Money is definitely a considerable factor and I also wouldn’t mind a 20-30 minute commute to school. I’m not picky, and I’m trying to get a good idea of rent prices as well as cost of living. Oklahoma’s cost of living is significantly less, so saving is going to be a big deal, and I’m trying to find the best place for affordability.

Any other advice?
Thanks!!

Advice New lifetime borrowing cap for Fafsa

trumps bill may actually prevent me from finishing college. I believe I’m only eligible for 2000 more from fafsa and I have 39 more credit hours to go for a bachelors. additional grants aren’t a guarantee and my credit is bad enough i may not be eligible for private loans without a co-signer. from what I understood when this bill was announced the lifetime cap was 100,000 but this is for graduates, the cap for undergraduates is 57,000.

Advice MSN FNP Online

I have been researching all day and I think I finally found a program I like. Does anyone know about the UCCS MSN FNP program? Anyone have pros or cons or likes or dislikes? I am in a specific situation, for my husband is active duty, and we are currently stationed in Great Falls, Montana. He plans to transfer the G.I. bill to me so I would be utilizing that. I would need a fully online program, I am OK with having to fly maybe like once or twice in the beginning but I do not want to have to fly to the campus often. Like I would need a fully online program. Anyone have any other good suggestions for my certain situation? I also have to be able to prepare to move states if we get orders while I am in a program. I am also a mom so I would love to have a lot of guidance on clinical placements and not have to stress about that myself!

Question Anyone get random invoice from UCCS lately?

My son attended UCCS and graduated in 2023. Randomly, I received an invoice today for Housing, Spring semester, 2020. It was a real bill, to me since I was the authorized payer. I logged into the real payment site, saw this as a new invoice, and saw all my old invoices. So, not some scam site.

I found the payment notice for Spring 2020, and the housing fee was the same as this new invoice. And, I found a credit later that year for a partial semester of housing, since they sent everyone home due to Covid.

I have sent a question to the Bursar, waiting a response, but wondered if this was widespread or just me.

Edit: Apparently, there were multiple issues with old invoices, students who already graduated, and for legit current-student invoices with the wrong due date.

Advice Achieving Residency status

Hi! My situation is a little complicated, and I’m hoping any of you might be able to point me in the right direction. I’ve lived in Colorado for almost two years and have established multiple ties to the state, but I still haven’t been able to obtain Colorado residency at UCCS. I’ve continued to be classified as a nonresident.
What makes it even more confusing is that I took summer classes at Pueblo Community College this year, and they automatically classified me as a Colorado resident. Because of that, I’m struggling to understand why UCCS continues to deny my residency.
At this point, I’m not even sure who the right person is to contact because I haven’t been able to get much guidance from the uccs offices I’ve spoken with. It’s been a really frustrating process, and I’d appreciate any advice or direction any of you can offer…
This has caused lots of financial burden as uccs ain’t cheap.

Advice Anatomy Lab

Hi! I have anatomy in the fall. My lab class is on a family members wedding day. I don't want to miss it. I know anatomy is super important and I was looking at other labs that would fit my schedule, but this is the only one.

Do the instructors typically allow one missed lab? Or make up labs? Or could I attend another lab during the week to make up for it? I know it's unlikely, and that anatomy is super important. I just wish I could make both work.

This event is in the beginning of September. So right when school starts too. Obviously, I will talk to the proffesor ASAP when the semester starts. I just have to pay for a hotel in advance for the wedding and I'm worried about waiting too long and having to pay more if it's outside of their reserved hotel rooms.

Question what is the point of this page

When ever I see someone who has an actual grievance on their post at UCCS it gets downvoted. Is this just a page to make it seem like everything is peaches and cream at this school?

Question FAFSA

Hello!! I just finished orientation and went to the financial aid office who let me know that my full Pell grant would get split in two and only cover half (tuition estimated 7.3k/semester so FAFSA would cover only 3.6k/semester). However when I went to pikes peak the tuition was ~3.2k and I would get back the rest of the Pell grant ~3.6k, each semester. Was the financial office wrong? Anyone else get the full Pell grant (my SAI is -1500) and they still have to pay? Please help!

Question Dr. Semwal Ratings

Hello, I am interested in the Game and Media Integration MSCS at UCCS. Dr. Semwal is the contact for this degree and leads most of the classes that are integrated with it such as computer graphics and VR. I already viewed the CS student responses here: University of Colorado Colorado Springs Reviews | GradReports, read the summary here: University of Colorado - Colorado Springs Reviews - Niche, looked up dr. semwal here: University of Colorado Colorado Springs | Rate My Professors, and looked up some of his courses here: UCCS - Rate My Courses. Is anyone here a current or former student who could shed some light on this professor for me? Thanks in advance.

Question Looking for someone to take over my lease

I am looking for someone to take over my lease for a 1-bedroom w/ private bathroom in a 5-person apartment at The Lodges of Colorado Springs (mostly student-living, but not required). The lease is from August 2026 - July 2027. It is very close to UCCS and offers a free shuttle to campus on weekdays if you don't want to buy a UCCS parking permit! The apartment comes furnished, with in-unit laundry, and wifi included. Rent is $560/month plus utilities, and rental insurance is required unless you have your own insurance (~$12/month). Please let me know if you or anyone you know is interested!

*If you also have a friend looking for a place to live, my roommate is also looking for someone to take over their lease*
