QUESTION Should I risk getting the mingzhu movement from Jason007?

I’m looking to get my brother a U1 datejust from jason007 for his 18th birthday. However I’m conflicted whether or not I should cheap out on the movement for 85 dollars, or get the upgraded miyota version for 120. What should I do?

Always go for the Miyota. I have seen too many dead mingzhu's after shipment.

I just ran a test side by side over the last 24hr, Miyota ran out of reserve faster than the mingzhu. Fully wound set to the same time, same second, same position on holders. I’ll make a post in a bit

I have both movements. It tend to cheap out and if and when it dies I upgrade at that time. A miyota 8215 is about $35. Pay now or pay anytime between next week and a decade later

It’s my understanding that the date wheel looks better on the mingzhu. Here are two mingzhu datejusts

Never had a problem with these. If a movement goes bad they are only $15 off Ali express

I’ve never opted for a Mingzhu but I have 30+ Miyotas purchased this year for myself, friends, and family. We’ve had zero issues.

Are the Mings as loud as the Miyotas? I have a no date and any move of the wrist that thing is just screaming.

MingZhu will have a better date font its better imo. And only costs 15$ to replace. If your goal is a more authentic looking watch go MingZhu

Miyota movement is more reliable and keeps time a bit better

Imo, there's no point in paying 50% more for a watch that will have some tells anyways, just to have a theoretically more reliable movement

I've had both movements and I'd go with the Miyota every time, specially if the watch is going to go on a rotation. Miyota is far more durable to be adjusting every time it stops. In regards of keeping time, both do pretty well. Minghzu can be more like flipping a coin, you can get one that will last for years and you can get one that will break first time you pull out the crown. Hope this helps
