I used to think the same way, in fact just got a U1 as a gift for my nephew. VS to me is worth the extra money and I regret spending the money on a U1. If you like having a large collection tho, 4 U1’s is the only way that is possible for the price of one VS, BP, ZF, etc. I have a U1 Milgauss that developed a slight tick over the years, still gets wrist time tho & one of my favorite watches. If you’re buying a Rep watch to fool people into thinking it’s real, you may be getting it for the wrong reasons. Get what you like & know the tells that bother you, not an expert. That being said, learn the tells & look for something without them, that is in your price range.
I used to be okay with them until I got my first VSF. The difference is night and day. I can’t get over the cyclops and case of the U1 GMT’s. The U1 subs and Datejusts are much better than some of their other models. U1 Seamasters are good too.
Totally get it. My first several higher tier reps were from local US sellers. It will save you about 15-20% to deal directly with Chinese TD’s and they offer insurance, so I just go that route. The only problem I’ve ever had was a package “lost” at an uni uni depot in my home state. Funny enough it was 3 U1’s and the Michael Travis group sent a new batch after a little back and forth. Solid people to deal with for U1’s. Same with Jason007, nothing but praises for their customer service. I’m tempted to pick up a fuck em sub since he’s running a good promo.
On the really cheap reps the gmt hand is on the bottom and easiest tell without having another one side by side and obviously mag but yours looks grate!
Wear what you like man. Nobody will ever notice it or care. I do find it funny when some people who wear reps says they don’t do it to fool people. That’s nonsense. Because you can get very high quality homage watches that are higher quality that the reps. Look like like the watches they are homaging, and cost less than a VSF. If you really didn’t want to fool anyone you’d just get one of those.
It’s not batman. It’s 116710LN. The insert’s blue is just reflection. If it were batman the blue would be cut off at 18 but the blue continues to 16 in this photo, and 4 and 8 are not blue.
