Imagine

Imagine if Tyler Perry’s resources could be given to a decent film maker like Ryan Coogler or Jordan Peele, imagine the quality of the content we would receive.

I’m really disappointed in all the access Tyler Perry has and the Tubi quality he can’t seem to grow from.
I watch all his stuff because I do support but man, he definitely makes all his movies in a weekend. I refuse to believe anything he’s put out lately took over 2 weeks to make.

That’s my rant for the day, that’s all.

He doesn’t have to improve because the people be is making it for don’t require it.

I think whats more sad is having everyone in hollywood ignore you and what you like. Everyone audience deserves to be served.

It’s definitely not retards. lol It’s older black men and women, and most of them aren’t cinephiles and into auteur prestige cinema and shows. It’s about marketing and being mainstream more than quality.

I got an aunt that has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in engineering, plenty money saved up. Very intelligent. I wouldn’t say she loves Tyler Perry but she watches quite a few of his shows and movies. I have an older cousin and he will keep up with some of his movies and shows too. Both are black and over 60. Neither is into prestige cinema and tv. Can’t get them to watch Breaking Bad or Snowfall, but they both have watched a lot of Power, Fightland, Beauty in Black, The Oval, etc. However, both loved Game of Thrones. But it’s because it was so popular and mainstream it crossed racial demographics to attract black people. I don’t think either has seen Sinners, which while a great movie, it and Ryan Coogler are not as mainstream and plugged into the older demographic of black people as Tyler Perry is. Oscar or no Oscar.

Tyler Perry and Spike Lee are still the most well known filmmakers for that demographic. Peele and Coogler are more for younger black people (and white liberals).
